Not exactly. Basically, there would be a XCloud app that acts like a portal to all the other apps. When you go to download one, it uses the App Store to complete the download process. Then it links to the XCloud subscription service. So you can either leave them as icons on your home screen, or just have the XCloud app as a launcher For XCloud titles

And Apple then wants 30% of each cloud streaming game? Now Apple wants 30% of Halo?

So Apple might be willing to adjust its App Store policies to be more reasonable if I work with them instead of breaching contract and then making a huge circus out of a lawsuit???

Never would have guessed...
I know this article briefly mentions Epic, but aren’t you conflating two separate issues. Xcloud wasn’t breaching terms. Apple twisted its policy to remove Xcloud and now has rewritten the terms to be even harder to circumvent. And making it unfair when compared to other streaming apps.

That is a separate issue when compared to Epics breach

But downloading a game. That’s the point of the service. If we aren’t downloading the game, how is that games developer supposed to provide the App Store updates to their game? That’s a major flaw in their terms. They want each individual game’s developer to submit the updates to them... updates that are made on Xcloud’s servers as we aren’t downloading the game to our device.

I am pretty sure that if Microsoft attempts that, Apple will revoke RDP's notarization.

To be frank, Citrix Workspace is already providing that experience – running apps remotely and have an "App Launcher" that launches remote apps. Granted, it's not games – but nothing prevents an organization to provide an xCloud-like experience via Citrix.

Microsoft saying what causes a bad experience on mobile. Lmbo!!!!!!!! They tried so hard at mobile and dialed miserably. 😂😂

What’s next, all movies on Netflix, disney plus, etc, need to be submitted to itunes Too? Same for all songs streaming on pandora, Spotify, and Amazon music?
Don't be rediculous. You don't interact with a Netflix movie... you just watch.

Without pressure from all directions, they simply won't.

This is already allowed in the current policy. Apps from the same developer account can call on each other and pass information via API or via server calls.

MS wants to give users the experience of "one-stop-shop" - a gaming OS inside of iOS.

Apple doesn’t want another platform inside it’s platform.

They are right to not want that, and within their rights to prevent it if they want to do so.

Can I run Google Stadia on Xbox?
Can I run Xcloud on Playstation?
Can I run Steam on Switch?

If you want to stream games, work within Apple’s rules and use something like shadow.tech

I just want to comment on Microsoft's take on the subject.

Listen, Microsoft is not bad mouthing anybody here ...

They are just saying that they have a vision for delivering the service to users and that Apple's rules (or terms) weren't compatible (before) with the way they want users to experience the service and that the new rules (or terms) aren't really expressed in a way that changes anything to allow Microsoft's vision of the service (XCloud) on iOS.

But again ... In my opinion, I do not think Microsoft said anything bad in their comment.

I hope Microsoft releases it as the remote access tool part of it instead. That would be a nice minimum offering. They can still work this one out in the meantime

Ahe I guessed they did use automated tests, I just assumed the automated tests deep dived the entire code or something. I guess its pretty effective though since you don’t hear about much dodgy crap slipping through onto the App Store vs Google Play.

Maybe that's because android allows you to generally extracts APKs (at least on rooter phones) which researchers can then analyze. There is no equivalent ability to do this on iphones.

I doubt that Google is any worse than apple in their automated testing.

What are you talking about? Its a freaking video stream of a video game. lol. What else is there to say ? Plain and simple, it seems Apple has a lot of idiots making bad policies.

Are you telling me that the experience as a human being is the same if you play a streaming game and watching a streaming movie?

Do you think that watching a lot of still pictures is the same experience as watching a movie? After all a movie is just still pictures shown in rapid succession.

Basically, most intelligent human beings are able to determine when they are looking at pictures, watching a movie or playing a game. You seem to think that humans will not be able to distinguish between a streaming game and a streaming movie.

I recently switched from Android to IOS for security and privacy. That was worth more to me than my the fact (to me) that Android is superior in most other ways to IOS. I had forgotten had stifling the walled garden is. So, thanks Apple for reminding me to never purchases another Apple product again.

No offence, but you are to blame for your choice. You said you’d forgotten. If you’d remembered and/or researched, you wouldn’t have made the purchase. It’s not Apple’s fault, it’s yours.

So you cannot play Solitaire using a Citrix client? I highly doubt this ;) Point is Apple wants to control the content and Apple wants to avoid competition with Apple Arcade. Next year every website will need an approval from Apple to be viewed with Safari.

And Apple tries to make its anti competitive behavior less obvious. Fail ...

Stop defending Apple in this. They’re very wrong here. And it’s hurting the brand.
