Upgraded both my apple tvs. Fast forwarding / rewinding seems much improved - even streamed versions are responding immediately rather than pausing before moving through the show/movie. Very cool.

please!!!

I would love if this fixed the HDMI switching problem, I (and a lot of others) are having when you don't use :apple:TV for a few days.

Yep, I can confirm. The UI is snappier. Loading Thumbnails for HD Podcasts doesn't freeze the UI for several seconds anymore. Sweet.

That was definitely a critical bug. :apple:TV 2.0 was nowhere ready for retail. Anybody buying one for the first time would think they just got ripped off big time.

I hope it fixes a slew of bugs:

Long loading time for HD video thumbnails FIXED
Dead end when a podcast is discontinued. No way to remove that podcast FIXED :D
• Spontaneous restarts with some Sharp Aquos TVs connected via HDMI

Anyway, I'm not even waiting for early adopter reviews of the update. 2.0 is so buggy, it can't get any worse really..

Downloading now...

UPDATE:
Found that some serious bugs had been fixed. The UI is definitely back on par with version 1.0 which was fast. There is still a noticeable loading time for HD video thumbnails, but it doesn't stay stuck there for a long time (sometimes minutes) like before.

Favorites in Podcasts is now super fast. All the thumbnails load quickly and browsing through the them responds immediately to the remote.

My :apple:TV is finally useable again! :D

HD Movie Rental is slooooooow

Before the 2.0.1 update I could rent an HD movie and begin watching it within 2 minutes or so (whenever it reached about 2% downloaded).

After the 2.0.1 update I noticed that apple has added a prompt that tells the user when the movie will be ready to view. Well, it said 1 hour for the first 10 minutes despite the fact that 4-5% of the movie had already downloaded. My wife and I just watched regular TV for about 25 minutes then checked back and noticed it was ready to watch.

Weird. Not sure why apple would break a feature that wasn't broken. It worked great before. Click rent for an HD movie, wait about 2 minutes and presto, it would be ready to watch. Now it appears to take MUCH longer. Not sure why.

Did the parental control restriction always work on your movies being streamed from iTunes. I set mine up as sync and then uncheck all content so nothing actually syncs.

Please confirm anyone. I tried selecting R rated movie and it asked for passcode.

EDIT: The screen also appears to be brighter, but may just be me.

Yes, parental controls were applied to streamed content as well as synched content before (and after) the update.

Navigating between the new genres feature for my movies seems to be a bit sluggish. Anyone else notice this?

Looks like they've added Genres for your movies. That should make a lot of people happy.....

How can you see that? When I go to my movies it just displays them all in one big list. Do I need to set something special?

There were some dv movies that I encoded for AppleTV using elgato's Turbo H.264 that wouldn't play (although they played fine on my computer using iTunes). I never did figure out what the problem was specifically, but after installing the update, they play fine now. Thanks Apple!

I may never have noticed before...

but while in a podcast, or other non-chaptered video, clicking once on fast forward on the remote advances the video 30 seconds instead of to the end. Is this new, or was it always around and i'm losing it?

Wifi problems

Since I updated I have had some major problems with the Wifi of the Apple TV. For the first time since I bought it almost six months ago I had to reconnect to my router and reenter my password.

I have now had to do this three times.

Hopefully this is fixed soon, any one else is having any problems?

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I've had to reconnect twice already, both times while part way through a television show.

I updated and started having disconnection problems. I have an Airport Extreme and this helped:

Airport Utility -> Manual Setup -> Wireless -> Wireless Options -> Uncheck 'Use wide channels'

This should slow down the connection a little but it did help.

I know! I am so tired of seeing this...

It's interesting how I've become so "cringy" -- for lack of a better word -- when using :apple:TV.
Every button I press, I'm afraid my :apple:TV will either slow down while rendering a thumbnail or it will reboot for no good reason or the device won't respond to pressing the remote buttons until after a few presses.

Now that everything is fixed, the cringing is still there. Hopefully I can get over that sensation.

Did someone delete my post from before? (I don't see it)

Anyway, I hope that with this update my tv stops losing its network connection...

AMEN!!! That is the one problem I have had with my Apple TV. I have to reconnect it to my WIFI all the time and it is annoying :( Other than that I LOVE it, just get more movies up Apple, I need more selection!

P.S. What is up with the Apple TV flashing screens of static and random colors and restarting like 10 times whenever it updates??? Are other people getting that too?

getting the album art seems quicker now. I stream everything, so :apple:TV has to cache the album art and Movie covers. I guess there is some logic for updating the cache and you often see a placeholder for a short time while it loads the artwork - now seems to do that quicker (ie you dont see the placeholder)

Secondly, animations (like the flipping album cover when a song is playing) seem to be smoother 2.0 introduced a small stutter
