(1) It's not faster. It's the same as before. By the time the next update releases, everyone will be complaining about how slow this one is, and then will rejoice over another imaginary "speed boost" in the interface.

Just because you weren't having problems, it doesn't mean other people weren't. UI speed problems since 2.0 are well documented on Macrumors and on other sites. It was affecting many people including myself. My :apple:TV was nearly unuseable. I actually went back to live (antenna feed, static prone) tv for the past month bcuz I was so frustrated with my :apple:TV.
That's all fixed now. The UI flows smoothly like it should.

(3) You still cannot clear downloads from your tv. This is the biggest oversight yet. Why? Because when you encounter a download error, it leaves the partially downloaded file in your tv. Even if you download it from your computer when the tv continues to get download errors, it doesn't clear the episode off the tv. This happened to me, and I wound up having to reset the box and resync 100+ GB of content.

Are you talking about this?

It's fixed.

One minor annoyance that I've found with 2.0.1 is that Podcasts downloaded on your :apple:TV now involuntarily sync back to your computer.

I'd rather that gigabytes of podcast downloads not sync back to my MacBook Pro and its meager remaining HDD space.

2.0 didn't do that and I was glad.

There should be an option to turn this on/off according to your needs.

The update did NOT fix my problem:

My Podcast section doesn't update with new episodes until I manually click "Sync Apple TV" in iTunes. This is really annoying! I have to go upstairs and click "Sync" just to be able to watch new episodes. I have tried everything to fix this but nothing has helped. Ugggh. Does anyone know of a fix?

Definitely quicker and snappier menus which is great.

Hopefully it will fix the problem with the HDMI switching and the random hanging.

Didn't see this mentioned yet:
The first thing I noticed after it installed and restarted, was that the first time iTunes synced (sanc?) with the TV, the podcasts that I had downloaded using the TV were copied back to the iMac.

network dropping constantly now...

I've had not one single problem or complaint since purchasing in January...

Now, after this update my :apple:TV is constantly losing it's connection to my AEBS. Factory reset and re-applying the update, still have the problem.

I had been running N-only in 5Ghz mode. I'm doing a second factory restore as we speak and have switched to 2.4Ghz and a dedicated channel to see if it solves it... fingers crossed.

Getting some of the above issues:

- Scrolling through "genres" is slow as molasses. And that is slow!

- It loses the network connection, only since this update, forcing a re-entry of the network password. It's running "802.11N - 5ghz" only mode. I made an adjustment to the multicast rate. If it happens again, I'll try to disable the wide network setting.

I am seeing the same WLAN drop-outs. In the middle of streaming a movie, it will say it's no longer connected to the network and things will stop. Seems like entering into network settings menu without doing any changes and clicking around in the menus for a while will bring the network back on and I can continue without actually having to select WLAN and enter WLAN password again.

This did not happen with v2.0, and I am seeing it all the time since upgrading to 2.0.1. Sucks...

How did you do this?

I heard you can run a separate N network for your N stuff, and keep your old G network for older stuff.

gkarris, I'm all N on my network now actually since my MacBook is the N spec'd one, I'm running the Airport Extreme, and I bought a Linksys N Expresscard for my gf's Dell Laptop. It is the only Expresscard that I could find that supports the 5Ghz spec. Now from what I understand you are right, but I've never done it. I believe I've seen it here on the forums. If I run across it I'll let you know.

No... I'm talking about purchased content. I got a download error on one of the episodes of Chuck when I bought the season using my tv. I was able to download the full episode on my Mac, but it kept the partial download (greyed out) in the list of episodes. There was no way to watch it, and no way to get rid of it, thus the reset.

Flickr Issues Anyone?

Has anyone had issues with getting logged into their Flickr account on the :apple:tv? My Flickr account was automatically created when Yahoo bought Flickr and then anyone who was creating albums within their Yahoo account was migrated to Flickr. Now when I try to use my Flickr login ID or my yahoo email address it says that it cannot find the account.

Got It!

Forget it. I think I figured it out.

Genres / Network issue

Does anyone else find the Genres menu completely unusable? It takes me approx 20 seconds to get into the menu and then it takes 20-25 seconds to move between EACH item within the Genres menu. I have approx 400 movies broken into 6 genres and this is simply not usable!

Additionally, I've lost my network connection twice today and had to retype my N network password each time.

Yes, same problem here. That probably means 2.02 next Tue. Or the Tue after that. Etc.

This sux

I don't like 2.01.
Trying to download Balls of Fury in HD. Getting the "ready to play in 37 minutes" BS. For every other movie rental, I have been able to play within just a couple of minutes. Really blows the mood having to wait. I could run down to Blockbuster and get this same movie in less time than this download is taking. And it isn't my network....just checked download speeds...5mbit over wifi on my MacBook.

I am really bummed out with this update. I want my 2.0 back.

Doesn't this contradict Steve's statement about being able to watch a movie within a few seconds/minutes - or whatever he said.

Sorry folks, just grumpy tonight.

Update: Took 50 minutes and 35% downloaded before it was ready to (or it let me) watch. A real bummer. I feel for the folks who are having to wait 13 hours, or two days. My post title still stands.

I'm seeing the same thing, constant dropouts. Is there an easy way to back to 2.0 ?

Same here: Wifi dropping every 30 mins and molasses-slow download. Saturday night ruined.

Guess Steve wasn't kidding when he said :apple:TV was a 'hobby' :):(

I wasn't having any network issues until 2.0.1. Post #44 in this thread had a fix which I tried and it worked. I have an APE running N only at 5Ghz. After I switched off 'Use Wide Channels' the drops stopped. So, I'm still getting to run N only at 5Ghz. 2.0.1 fixed my stuttering problem I had during the first 19 minutes of video streaming too.

I've tried to post to the discussion threads on Apple's site, but for some reason or other I can't create an id to log in over there. If someone could post there with this fix, temporary as it may be, I'd appreciate it.

I went out tonight an about another Apple TV now that the stuttering is gone.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't hold the menu button down and get the "sleep/standby" anymore. I use to hold it down about 5 seconds and the little white light went out. Won't do that anymore.

Anyone else...?
