still no Retina Display so still won't be getting one :-(

Perhaps you should buy some glasses so you can stop sitting 9 inches away from your desktop computers. For those of us that sit up straight in our chairs the iMac screens look amazing.

The bottom line is, while an eventual retina-iMac will look great, if that's your criteria you're going to be computer-less for at least 2 or 3 more years. Is that really the best way to live your life?

No 3 TB Fusion option on the 21 inch iMac? Ugh.

And the 1 TB Fusion should be standard...

nobody noticed the 27inch 'high end' model comes with nvidia 775m by default??? and 4gb 780m?

woah...

it's gonna be a gaming monster =]

im wondering why it's not overclocked mx models like the previous 680mx.

Performance wise its more like a decent laptop. Wouldn't call it a 'gaming' monster.

macbook pros next

Me too, I was half way to my credit card before I read 'iMac' and flopped down in a crumpled heap on the floor. My MBP fritzed up a couple of weeks ago and I'd really like to hold off until the next refresh, get the power efficiency of the Haswells (which I was 5 weeks to early to get on my Macbook Air!).

Their timing is always problematic. We just upgraded our college labs to the "new" iMacs in August. Mainly, we needed better graphics chips (from our original 128 mb iMacs). I wish Apple had a summer upgrade cycle so that we could get the newer machines for the start of the semester.

Holiday shopping season is 1000 times more important than the start of a "semester."

neat...

so this is how Apple are doing this now ?? No more events ..... I like surprises.

I wish Apple had a summer upgrade cycle so that we could get the newer machines for the start of the semester. The iMacs we purchased have 512 mb. Now 1 gb seems to be standard, along with 8 gb of RAM. By the time we can afford to upgrade the labs again, we'll probably once again end up behind the curve....
People like you is precisely why changes aren't introduced until after school starts. Apple thanks you for depleting old stock.

They've done it for years. Spec updates do not need events, what would they show off? The Mac Pro only ever got an introduction in 2006 then mention that they would update it earlier this year.

Would you buy one with a Retina Display for 2x the cost?

Even that would be a bargain. I'm amazed by the people out there who think that you could get a retina display on a screen this size for just a few hundred dollars more.

I've no doubt that Apple will be releasing a 4k monitor to go with the new Pro. We'll see then what the true cost of these displays are.
