Cmon apple guys, please update asap the apple store in italy, i need, NEED, a new imac 27".... :D:D

They've done it for years. Spec updates do not need events, what would they show off? T\.

They don't ? What about the New Macbook Air with Haswell ? They showed this off a few weeks after intel released the chip in July.

Specs are still specs. Doesn't matter how small,, They could have slipped this in along side the "rumored" Macbook Pro updates next month..

Their timing is always problematic. We just upgraded our college labs to the "new" iMacs in August. Mainly, we needed better graphics chips (from our original 128 mb iMacs). I wish Apple had a summer upgrade cycle so that we could get the newer machines for the start of the semester. The iMacs we purchased have 512 mb. Now 1 gb seems to be standard, along with 8 gb of RAM. By the time we can afford to upgrade the labs again, we'll probably once again end up behind the curve....

Edit: Whoa! Finally a 1 tb SSD option -- for an additional $1000.

Timing is probably deigned to clear out inventory to institutions like yours.

Think of it this way—you'd have been out-of-date within 6 months anyway. That seems like a drop in the bucket compared with how long you'll keep these things.

Don't think that'll happen, Apple has been moving products away from discrete graphics not towards them.

I think that's a pretty simplistic statement. They put discrete graphics in devices when it makes sense. Pro models, and/or products that have the space inside them to fit discrete graphics get them. Integrated graphics usually happen when the form factor and/or price of the product can't support discrete.

The MBA is an example. Given it's popularity with professional users, and the issues around the original Intel graphics I can guarantee Apple would have put discrete in there at least as an option if they could have figured out a way to reliably cram them in.

Its not live on the UK store. Well its live but no pricing or buy button.

Good job Apple. Now let's just get the Macbook Pro updated and I'll be happy. I'm also going ot be interested to see if Apple does have a separate event for the r/MBP. We know the iPad will have it's own event, most likely in time for the holiday shopping season, is my guess. But I'm still curious about the timing.

Still desperately wating for Mac Mini Haswell update. Better graphics would be nice. I'd love to see some AMD or NVidia accelerated graphics in the Mac Mini, but even HD 5000 would be an improvement. :)

They should had an announcement, a month ago. I love my iDevices, but maybe they should pay more attention to their legacy products.

Would you buy one with a Retina Display for 2x the cost?
Probably.

Perhaps you should buy some glasses so you can stop sitting 9 inches away from your desktop computers. For those of us that sit up straight in our chairs the iMac screens look amazing.

The bottom line is, while an eventual retina-iMac will look great, if that's your criteria you're going to be computer-less for at least 2 or 3 more years. Is that really the best way to live your life?
No one said the iMac screen looked bad. Just that a retina one would look better. There was nothing wrong with my 1680 x 1050 Macbook Pro screen, but my 2880 x 1800 one looks a hell of a lot better.

It always amazes me when people act like they don't want technology to improve.

The Fusion Drive option is $50 less which is good and the SSD options are a tad different. This basically lines up with what I expected in the update.

The one question I have is the 780M the same specs as other 780Ms or did Apple get a slightly faster version?

I didn't say they were moving away just out of principle, but because it makes sense for most products (we agree on this).

Does anyone else think that if they are putting in "decent" mobile dGPUs in the iMac (consumer mac) that this may bode well for the rMPB to get a dGPU as well? I can't fathom Apple selling a 2K plus machine with just Iris Pro when their base iMac has Iris Pro. Thoughts?

Don't need glasses according to my eye doctor I have perfect eye sight and won't be computer less I have a iMac that works perfectly fine just won't be upgrading anytime soon until they come out with a Retina Display iMac....
