I'm holding out for iTunes 6.5.1 when they release HD 720P movies available for download.

Apple must be paying for bandwidth through their teeth. App updates, TV and music video downloads, music downloads, music previews, web site visits... my god. I should have bought stock in Akamai.

WOW, that was fast. Maybe a little too fast.
I hope Apple is not just rushing all this code, before it is
actually tested for bugs...

They've got really, really big teeth. And lots of them. Imagine if they still had to deal with stuff like this by sending out floppies!

Am I the only one that was disappointed when they changed the look of iTunes, that it now longer matched any other programs in iLife? I know it's being a little picky, but I'm like that I guess.
And when are more TV shows going to come out for iTunes?

This is what the update to 6 should have been (12 MB), not some dinky little 150KB update as it was! You have to wonder what slapdash code they put in that first small update...

To come out so quickly, it seems like 6.0.1 must address a fairly critical bug in 6.0.

I guess I'm just curious, but does anyone know what the bug was?

Did anyone have a specific issue with 6.0 that downloading 6.0.1 fixed?

Maybe someone who knows what they're doing could look at the 6.0.1 download and do a bit of analysis to see what changed and what could have been exploited or whatever before?

That's how they figure out Microsoft patches isn't it?

Can you tell I have no haxor skills..I have no idea :p

One of the bugs this fixes is that when the player was in mini mode, some users couldn't use the forward and reverse scrub buttons, because they wouldn't stay depressed.

One of those users was me, so I am hugely thankful this fix came out so quick.

I was happy to see iTunes version 6.0

They fixed that very annoying bug where iTunes 5.0.1 would update my iPod with any song that I had listened to or even merely touched in iTunes since the last iPod update.

Thank you Apple for iTunes 6.0 :D

Now I'm going to explore update 6.0.1

I think Apple is doing a GREAT job with iTunes.

5 brought a completely new look, along with a couple other fairly big changes, and 6 brought video. If anything, they do seem a bit close together, but both implemented big changes.

It makes sense to me as it might be easier for Apple to revamp for future versions by seperating the releases like bookmarks. This enables a more simplified way for them to vertically doucument the major changes for re-implementation (with enhancements) of features they plan to continue developing for the future.

IMO: The next major version (7) will again see an all new interface to match the *NEW* look of the Apple/Intell alliance.

Anyone else having a problem where they lose their wireless access after installing 6.0.1?

Mum called to say that she'd downloaded it and couldn't get online. Mine was downloading at this point and the same thing happened. Quitting Safari and restarting brought it all back but was a little odd...

Interesting, Applespider. Nope, no problems here, Airport Express network, 10.4.2 with the rest of the updates.

The passage concerning the purchased music makes me think that this is just some anti-piracy update...
I suspect that you are correct. In fact, I believe that the main reason for the jump in version numbers from 5.x to 6.x was for DRM and new security for purchasing online. iTunes has been supporting video playback since 4.7.x or earlier and most of the other changes in going from iTunes 5.x to 6.x appear to have happened on the server side at Apple and not in the iTunes client that runs on your computer.

And I wonder why Apple finds it necessary to make you Agree to legal terms before downloading the update, and then you have to do it again when you first start the updated program. Seemed redundant and a tad annoying.
Sometimes a network administer will download the package. And then each user computer gets installed. So each computer would need to abide by the terms.

That annoyed me. I'm glad to hear that they fixed it :)

I noticed that Software Update is doing something a bit different. After iTunes update download was complete and installed, it automatically checked for more updates before ending. I don't recall it doing that before.
It's been doing that for a long time, but I forget if it started with Panther or Tiger.

Switching videos from album art area view to fullscreen is much faster now - there used to be like a 5 second delay that drove me nuts. Now it's something like 2 seconds, lol. I still wish iTunes had an option to open videos externally in Quicktime instead - until iTunes is as responsive as Quicktime with videos, and offers the amazing fullscreen controller, I'm not really a fan of it's video playing.
Also: why doesn't iTunes let you edit the video kind to "TV Show" or set the Season, Episode #, etc. like the videos bought off of the iTMS. It's very anti-piracy.
