40 MHz and a faster front side bus. Maybe you should take a look at the benchmarks of the older 2.33 GHz MacBook Pro Vs. the newer 2.2 GHz one.![]()
Yes, we are all a LOT happier that a render takes now 5h57min instead of 6h4min.

even if im blatantly not gonna declare it...
If I was to pay the UK VAT, does that mean I wouldn't have to pay any Tax when buying a MB in the shop in PA (USA!)?
I just called 1-800-myapple to ask about the pricing discrepancy between US and Canada.
...
Could all good Canadians on this forum do me a favour and call them up?
Thanks!
For those outside of US and compare your prices to the US prices.
There is a price difference not because Apple likes to do it that way, it's because of higher import taxes from your government. Apple is based OUTSIDE your country, thus will pay a higher import tax than companies based IN your country.
Maybe you should consider high performance computing then.Yes, we are all a LOT happier that a render takes now 5h57min instead of 6h4min.
No. You pay sales tax (~8%) and then at customs the UK VAT.
why are the first 30-40 comments so mind numbingly useless?!
every comment is either:
- there not being aluminum case mods
- yawn for the boring update
- some stupid shout for joy by some idiot that's been holding out for the *next* update cycle before he buys.
how about some real comments, how about what the performance comparison is between x3100 and gma 950?! how about battery performance difference? how about resolutions, x264 native decoders, etc?
So this leaves me with a question: will the old mac memory still be usable in this one? I mean they got a new chipset so I assume a new motherboard is in there. What about the memory? Does it stay the same?
Just saw the update. Combo drive? No bigger HDD? F*CK YOU APPLE GO TO HELL!! That's it, I'm not taking this ****, I'm going Dell.
This is just unacceptable. Un- ****ing -believable.
Well Customs duty is free only for values $20 canadian or less.
Customs duty of Canada. Last checked it was around 5 to 15%.

If you go Apple, and especially Macbooks (i'm not talking Mac Pros here...), don't look for performance, look for glamour and stability.
Compare to Dell at the same price, and then assess your comments. And compare to Sony at the same price as well.
Will this new chipset let me use iMovie and iDVD to make movies with my crappy non-HD digital camcorder with those little digital tapes and firewire hookup?
These small updates are welcome, but why don't some of you ask for 1x1Gb instead of 2x512Mb and better speaker quality?
That would be a lot better than this small update and I don't see anyone asking for it...
Honestly though, it's not just Dell. It's very hard to find Combo drives in consumer oriented laptops these days from any manufacturer. Even a budget $450 Walmart laptop has a DVD burner. Burning DVDs is definitely not a premium feature.
