Well this is disappointing. I'm not interested in the mouse, but I wanted a USB-C Keyboard with Touch ID. However, I don't need a Numeric Keypad. Seems like the Numeric Keypad-less option is gone without a refresh. Good way to up-sale customers by $50. Also, still no backlight?

It was 5 years ago the 11 year old Magic Mouse sensor and wireless stack were already testing poorly on Rtings, and it looks like no change from that with 5 years more passage of time, argh

Even after Marques clowned on Tim Apple on the Magic Mouse ergonomics lol

I have exactly this mouse and I'll tell you one thing: every time I charge it and start using it while it's charging I remember how much this cable is annoying and inconvenient. I try to charge it when I'm not using it or I charge it briefly and unplug it.

I had the MM for a few months and it's funny how the charging problem is exaggerated in the mainstream. I gave up on the MM because it was uncomfortable to hold the mouse, among other things because of its edges. The second issue was the polling rate which was too low and not really suitable for working with graphics. Turning the mouse over for a few hours every few weeks was one of the lowest priorities for returning it.
I don’t use my mouse every day as it’s primarily for use in my office with my desktop or when I sit down there to do some work with multiple devices (another great feature of the MX Master—easy switching between multiple devices without having to pair/un-pair but that’s ANOTHER convenience issue Apple can’t bother to add that has existed in other devices for years) and more than once it’s been very low on battery or dead. Not having to wait for it to charge, even if only for 10-15 minutes is a great convenience and didn’t require some radical design to be able to accommodate a charging cable while in use.

Is it the end of the world? No, of course not but it’s definitely a convenience issue. Kinda like Apple’s stupid Apple Pencil 1 charging solution. Did it work? Yes. What is good design? No. Same applies here.

But my rant really doesn’t affect me because outside of the stupid charging design, it’s really a pretty mediocre mouse functionally with terrible ergonomics and I wouldn’t use this design even if I could charge it while using it.

WTAF????

“Yes, that means the Magic Mouse's charging port remains located on the bottom of the mouse, as confirmed in Apple's video for the new iMac.”

And the "new" narrow Magic Keyboard is still missing the upside down T configuration for the arrow keys. Instead still having the ****** full height left and right arrow keys 😒

Is 30 Oct the first delivery date for all these accessories (kb/tp/mouse)? Article doesn't say.

THANK YOU! This was just not showing up on the website for me at all. Is there a version without Touch ID like there used to be?

Edit: Found it!

Exactly as you wrote. I wrote the same thing but some people twisted my words trying to make me an Apple apologist. It is an inconvenience, but in my opinion, a small one that is extremely exaggerated and is one of the last problems of this mouse that would make you not buy it. Bad ergonomics, and bad precision, the only thing that is cool about MM is the touchpad and gestures.

All I needed was a new Magic Keyboard and Mouse that supported multi device. This is disappointing to say the least.
Same and made the switch years ago rather than wait on Apple. Take a look at these options. Combo is cheaper than Apple’s counterparts, have better typing feel/key travel, backlighting and multi-device support. Only feature you sacrifice is TouchID.

Ah, they updated the article after I had already opened it then. This is what I was seeing in Apple News. Thank you so much for clarifying!

Is a stupid keyboard still $200? The price of some laptops? Still can't use the mouse while charging? Innovation now is painting your device different colors? Been wanting to buy an iMac since 2018 but haven't because of the lack of innovation and the removal of their 27" iMac.

Keep penny pinching on your products, and so will I Apple.

I was hoping for a Magic Keyboard Pro for that added (missing) key-travel despite having plenty of room for it. Was also hoping for a black version without a number pad. And, how Apple hasn't made a wireless charging Magic Mouse with a wireless charging pad/dock is beyond me.

Come on Apple. You're not gonna do a significant redesign in nearly a decade and this is what you're still charging? Just absurd!

Would have considered buying a better keyboard, but that's disappointing to hear zero changes. Looks like they have even removed the lightning keyboards from the refurbished store so you can't pick up a cheaper lightning Touch ID keyboard :(. If this was any other company, they'd be getting destroyed for such a lack of innovation in keyboards and mice after so many years.

Of course he’s serious. Just about every other rechargeable wireless mouse has this capability. The Logitech MX Master series, one of the most popular, for example:

I have an MX Master for my PC.

I would rather be caught naked in the park than use it while it is charging.

Nobody does it. PC users are even more fanatic about hiding cables than Mac designers. They literally buy cable ties and stuff to hide every cable.
