Speaking of developers and Apps for AVP -- this is quite an indictment and really indicative of the overall support problem plaguing this platform.

These are both software devs btw 👇

Imagine they did not update the iPhone for two years and, when they did, they only did a chip upgrade. That (along with an absurd price) is what they did with the AVP. It never stood a chance.

Let’s go!

So will the band itself be for sale separately?

The M5 should add a nice performance boost, but right now I don't feel the AVP is really hurting in terms of performance with the M2.

Honestly the platform desperately needed more power. It's absurd that it never got M3 and M4.

I am happier for the millions who will benefit from this tech in 5 gens time......
And I'll celebrate that when it's relevant, and attainable, to the masses. Right now it's nothing more than a gimmick made for those with a bit too much expendable income to blow $3500 on a cool toy. It's not an actual product imo. It's a proof of concept. A tech demo/beta test really. And a ****ing EXPENSIVE one at that...

More power = more applications (which now were heavily restrained) = more userbase.
Obviously the price is also an issue, but it'll get sorted out somehow.

It certainly will...

(product cancellation/pivot to glasses instead is where my money is)

No one is developing applications. ITs best use case is watching movies, and there isn't even a netflix app. I think many large scale devlopers are not suddenly going to be jumping on the AVP bandwagon just because there's a M5 now.

The price is a huge deterrent to acceptance, the other huge deterrent is what problem is it solving? What can the AVP do, that a MBP or iPad cannot?

If you break it down the Vision Pro is about the cost of the first VR headset that came from Oculus. If memory serves me it was about $999 CDN but you needed a pretty beefy computer to run VR. Might be a bit cheaper but is in that price range still. Difference of course is a PC itself is far more versatile in what you can do with it, you don't only have to use VR with it and many people already had the powerful PC so the upfront cost was nowhere near as bad.

Yeah, and I can understand why they would not want to develop for a device that so few are going to use, when on the other side they have affordable really good wireless VR headsets. Apple really needs BigScreen VR, it is a fantastic way to watch movies with friends or on your own. Lots of different settings and they look great. With what Apple VR has now even if it was affordable I am not so sure I would buy it over a Quest 3.
