If you already purchased from iTunes in HD it should eventually upgrade on its own. In situations where you might have bought a SD or HD version or obtained a code for same when higher resolutions were available, hiding your purchase wouldn’t work, you’d have to get rid of the purchase by gifting it to someone else. After that, you can repurchase from iTunes in whatever resolution you want.I tried to hide the movies in question then repurchase them now that they are available in 4K and it wouldn't let me. They just reverted to the HD even though they should 4K for sale.
Guess we just have to wait.

You mentioned trying to hide a purchase, not getting rid of it by gifting... unless that's what you meant to say? Hidden purchases are still owned by you and can be unhidden whenever you want. Gift a purchase to someone else and it's gone for good.....thanks? I think that’s exactly what I just pointed out...

Sorry, my mistake in looking at this more closely, it's not something I've had to do in a long time. What I actually should have said is that the only way I know of to get around already having a lower resolution version of a movie in iTunes, that is not upgradable for whatever reason, is to gift it. Not to someone else, however, but to yourself. How do you gift a movie away? Only option I see is to be charged when sending a gift to someone.

Find the movie in question in iTunes, hit 'share,' and then 'gift,' and then gift it to yourself using the same email address that you use for iTunes. This will effectively allow you to repurchase the movie and get the 4K version. But, yes, you will be charged for the purchase. Sorry for the confusion!
If you purchased your HD Disney movies directly through iTunes, there is really no need to do anything, they will eventually be converted to 4K.
Movies I have added to iTunes via codes from Movies Anywhere aren't eligible for 4K upgrade nor can Apple just delete the movies from my account so I can repurchase them.
Gifting will work. I've done it before with Movies Anywhere titles. But, yeah, it ain't free. You're paying whatever iTunes' current full price happens to be.I may give your idea a shot and see what happens. At worst I'll be out 20 bucks...

Correct. And hiding a movie, what you originally tired to do, won't do the trick.

I just got off the phone with Apple Support. The 4K upgrade is eligible for Disney movies that are linked to outside sources (like Movies Anywhere). If you have an iPhone, open the Apple TV app, in the upper right corner of the "Watch Now" tab, select your profile, sign out and then sign back in. This fixed the issue for me.
On Mac? I’m currently on phone with them and they are telling me the opposite.
You should be able to sign in and out of Apple TV on your Mac.
How can they put out Lion King in 4K? I am pretty sure it was not shot in 4K.
Also, I wonder if someone will complain that he does not want the 4K version and wants the 1080P one. Maybe their device does not play 4k?
Exact same hereMine are no in the 4k list but when I got to the movie and play it, then its in 4K dolby vision
Most of my purchases were digital codes redeemed in iTunes or movies anywhere when I purchased a Blu-ray or DVD. So far none of them are showing up as 4K but the audio has been upgraded on almost all of them.
