I am honestly so excited for all the reviews and first impressions of the Vision Pro. Only a few months to go!

I think in the end it will come down to comfort, I’ve got the PSVR 2 which is really great but honestly you do get sick of being in there, plus does get quite a bit sweaty after a while…

I don't think the LIDAR is accurate enough for such high-detail objects like glasses. That's probably why the Vision Pro face scanner also isn’t able to capture them adequately.
That's a good point. Perhaps Apple could let glasses companies supply 3D models of their glasses catalog for people to use. That way users could pick the frame that they have.

Probably not your intention but that comes through as an ableist comment. I have worn glasses since the age of 4 and most people I know have never seen me without glasses. I would not imagine an avatar of me without glasses. It's part of my appearance. Just like my nose, hair etc.
Only an overly sensitive fool would interpret what I said as “ableist”. I have worn glasses for most of my life as well, but my identity is not tied to something I wear on my head that helps with my vision.

Users will likely be able to find something that is close to their own frames, but there may not be an exact match available. It is not yet clear if color options will be available, but it seems like a level of customization that Apple would offer.
If not now, later.

I'm in favour of them shipping an incomplete v1 so we can get on with this, and custom glasses seem an entirely cuttable feature (and I need glasses, to be clear).

Given that 79% of Americans wear eye correction of some sort:

"Vision Correction: 204.1 million U.S. adults (79 percent) use a form of vision correction— including eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses, reading glasses, and contact lenses."

I feel Apple and all other VR/AR headset makers should be required to have adjustable lenses in their headsets as standard, so that people do not have to mess with trying to wear glasses inside the devises or be forced to purchace additional corrective lenses.

Think about how when you use many other optical devices you turn dials to focus them to your eyes, this should apply to these headsets also.

Now you’re being sensitivist.

😎

That didn't seem too egregious until I remembered how expensive this device is

This is an outrage !
How dare Apple invent a brand new technology to instantly scan one’s face to create personal avatars for the new headsets they also just invented and then force us to chose glasses manually from numerous options like we are living back in 2022!

Companies like Warby Parker should have a glasses app in the App Store where you can buy their virtual frames.
