It’s not surprising, the leather cases have always been prone to ageing through wear and tear but Apple should have figured out a way to mitigate it properly or perhaps drop the leather cases in favour of a material that wouldn’t damage with MagSafe.

Apple Warns MagSafe Charger Can Leave Circular Imprints on Leather Cases

Isn't leather just skin?

EDIT: YES

The circular mouse all over again. I usually refrain from seeing the negative of Apple's design, but this one is an obviously dumb design. Magnets apply force, which creates added pressure beyond gravity. Combine that with a "ring" design and you're going to have a mark. Seems so obvious that I'd expect them to design around this problem.

If people are discovering this on the first day of use, how bad will it get over time? With a leather case, I assume the surface could be brushed a bit to minimize the wear. But that wouldn't work with silicone.

This whole system seems like folly to me. Like...wired wireless. It’s not even safe. Strikes me as a try-hard idea that was thought up just to bring back the MagSafe name. I can see potential utility for car accessories, but that’s about it. Otherwise it just seems a classic example of a solution looking for a problem. Happy to be proven wrong, but I currently have no intention of buying the puck charger. Not Apple’s finest hour.

seems like a not-all-the-way-thought-through product to me ...
Since I only use leather cases - definitely thanks, but not thanks for me ...

My 11 pro is 100% after a year using the Samsung leather wireless charger lol. that will be next ruins battery haha.

I wish they would just release the leather case I charge by cable anyway and am gonna be so scared using it naked until it comes

This is a poorly executed design if one of your brand new, heavily promoted products has a negative material impact on another product that it was designed for.

Are we not supposed to use the MagSafe charger on the soon to be released leather case?

I decided I am going to stick with my Mophie Qi charger or plug the phone in each night, instead of MagSafe.
Just ordered a ravpower 45w usb c adapter and an aukey usbc to lightning cable

until someone comes out with a silicone, detachable corded black magsafe charger

3ft non detachable cable should be illegal

It just seems to me that MagSafe was rushed out, who in the world would want a circular imprint on the outside of your brand new leather case? I wish so much that Apple would make an iPhone without the magnets. We are now stuck with magnets in all new iPhones they make every year for the next 5-6 yrs.

We also don’t know yet long term how these magnets will affect the batteries. If we start hearing about people’s batteries exploding with MagSafe or magnets it will be bad news.
