It seems like the iPhones this year just have more and more shortcomings the more that is released about them. I wonder what's been going down in Apple HQ this year regarding the iPhones.

Not really. Every year there's that vocal minority that finds something to complain about. So far we have:
  • Smaller battery in a phone with a larger display and faster processor doesn't last as long
  • Faster cellular chip uses 20% more battery
  • Wireless charging via a 15-watt charger isn't as fast as a hardwire 20-watt charger
  • There is no difference between an iPhone 12 Pro and an 11 Pro other than 5G
The article "iPhone 12 Screen Breaks When Dropped On Concrete" should be published momentarily.

So spend $50 plus on an Apple leather case only to have it ruined. That is really too bad about MagSafe, I was really looking forward to it and the MagSafe Wallet too.

This is very unlike Apple. Bummer!

Random car maker: "We are now selling a new super fast charging device for your electric car. Unfortunately you have to crash into it each time."

it feels like the .eft isn't talking to the right ... this, all the bugs in new OSs this year makes me wonder if this is a sign that Covid is impacting Apple at another level - they are a very office based culture and now they have been working remotely for the better part of the year. This does have an impact on communication (at least initially) and takes time to get used to. It can be done, but as I said, their history and culture is office baed and it takes time to adjust to a new working model ...

Didn’t they test it? Why sell something that will damage another accessory that it’s supposed to be used with? Ridiculous engineering and product design. Fire the whole department!

(Reminds of something I discovered a few days ago when I got my SS AWS6 - the Milanese loop scratches the charging puck that comes with the watch).

I actually thought iOS 14 was pretty stable even in beta. Certainly better than iOS 13.

Glad I don’t care about this accessory. I charge my phone with a 29W USB-C charger. Works like a champ.

Wasn't planning to use one anyway, but now between it damaging the cases and being three times as slow as using the Lightning Cable, I am definitely going to give it a pass.

Yup. I want the Mini (old school iPhone holdout here) and I wanted to order a case before arrival but was going to hold out to see what's compatible with MagSafe, in case. This kills any interest in it.

And people still wonder why AirPower flopped.

Let's face it, Apple tried to shoehorn MagSafe to iPhones. It belongs on Macs, but they seemingly decided that it was past its expiry date when transitioning to USB-C (makes me glad I still have a 2014 MBPr with no butterfly keyboard fiasco and MagSafe to boot).

I will be getting the 12 Pro Max and using it with a fast charger that doesn't require magnets, just like previous generations. I have no idea why Apple thought MagSafe was suddenly all the rage on a phone. It's not like you'll drop it when it's charging, unlike a Mac where you might trip over the cable.

Did they mean existing leather cases or the new unreleased ones? 😂 yeah the whole thing is ridiculous, but have you seen what the clear case looks like? I think they do find the circles sexy

Zuckerberg: Do you respect wood Timmy?

Tim: Of course I respect wood.

Zuckerberg: Well I found some rings on the coffee table last night. Those rings wouldn't be from your wireless charger would they?

Tim: Get the F outta my house Zuckerberg!

Remember when Apple used to care about things like attention to detail and aesthetics? At this point I am just amazed so many people are willing to drink the kool aid.
Don’t be surprised. Everybody is an individual with their own thoughts and priorities. MR posters generally do not align with the masses.

edit: by attention to detail...are you referring to "you're holding it wrong?"

watchos7: battery drain, S3 reboots ...
MacOS Mojave security update causing high CPU usage

I said it before: iphone 12 is a generation worth skipping ...

XS max is still good enough

2021 might be the next good iphone year

Yep. Anker wireless works great too. Cheap and effective. No marks!
Have you tested your Anker wireless charger with an iPhone 12 yet? Do you get near 7.5W charging or just the pathetic 1W?

That’s disappointing... I wonder if that’s what caused the delay? This in combination with the slower charging speeds will be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
