there were posts here re ios14 battery drain
watchos7: battery drain, S3 reboots ...
MacOS Mojave security update causing high CPU usage

I must have been lucky as I didn't experience any of that. I was actually expecting a lot more bugs but was pleasantly surprised.

I was concerned that this charger would scuff cases and the iphone. I’ll wait to see how it fairs over time with others before buying this charger. Also, 15w isn’t great charging speed.

Why the exposed metal ring on the charger? It won't just be leather, glass backs and silicone cases will suffer as well. Cover the metal ring with soft plastic or silicone

this is what I don’t understand either. I’ve been using it with the 12 pro for a few hours now and every time I can hear the metal on glass contact, either when it snaps into place with a clack, or slides into place with basically a grind

for wireless it actually is ...
With current battery technology, if you go much higher than 15W, you will impact battery longevity ...

yes, for wireless, it is. I should have elaborated. I still prefer my higher watt wired chargers. If Apple plans to go portless in the near future, I hope that wireless charges advance in power and speed.

I just love all the silly comments saying it's a rushed product. Premium leather seating in $100,000 cars still cracks from just sitting on them. You have to constantly spend money to condition them to prevent damage from NORMAL USE. Just because it's Apple that this forum is crying foul because of the MagSafe imprint on a case that cost only $50USD+ and it can happen on any case material. Just shameful.

I really don't think this is defendable. The phone was only launched today and there are marks on cases. I doubt your $100,000 car seats would crack the same day you sat in them! And how exactly are you supposed to condition an iPhone case without falling foul to this issue other than not to use MagSafe?

Wasn’t going to order an Apple case, but think I’ll just cancel my MagSafe order while I can.

This is the amazing part. All those who ordered these and continue to. Then these obvious reviews come out just reaffirming what many are saying on here how dumb this MagSafe system is.

So you want a clumsy oversized watch charger for your phone that’s much slower vs plugging in? It’s fast charging man leave us alone. It’s the future leave us alone. The cases snap on magnetically man, didn’t you see it? I can’t wait. They defended this nonstop. Now they’re all returning it and blaming Apple for their own stupidity. It’s bizarre.

So MagSafe wallets are useless, MagSafe charger needs one of the new 20w chargers for best performance, MagSafe charges at half the speed as hardwired, and now MagSafe damages your $50 Apple case.

What an absolute disaster.

This is how you know mobile phones are plateauing. Forcing new features because otherwise 10% speed boost and 5% better camera is all it would be. Oh and 5 gee.

Reminds me of the black marks on Apple Pencil when it switched to mag. My 11in Pro 2nd Gen had marks on a brand new pencil literally days into use.

Not that I care but still...

Are you sure about that? Because the iPhone 12 leather cases won't be available for purchase until November 6th. I just want to be sure you're referring to the leather case, not the silicone case in the picture, because the leather case is what the forum is discussing.

To the second part of your post, obviously you've never owned anything leather in your life. Leather shows creases from the first day of use no matter how great the quality is. It's a natural part of leather. At least Apple spoke up about it before release of their leather cases. They didn't have to because it's expected that people understand how leather wears.

Actually the most important advancement (for me) in wireless is efficiency, at currently 80-85%, that’s just not good at all...

Because I obviously haven't owned anything leather in my life, very adult response!

I’m sorry, but isn’t that a photo of a synthetic case? I’m not an expert at identifying cases, but I don’t remember the leather cases I’ve had having that plastic rim around the camera.

Anyway, I’m guessing over time it could leave a mark on any case unless you make sure to wipe the charger and case every time. Dirt... accumulates.

Looks like a first world problem I can easily solve by placing a piece of scotch tape over the aluminium part of the charger. We can call it Apple iTape and sell 1" strips for $99.

Creasing is not cracking. Don't shift the goalposts. MagSafe for iPhones is a subpar product, not only because it leaves marks on the first day on multiple cases (not just leather) but because it's borderline useless to charge anything except the latest models of iPhones.

You're better off with any standard fast wireless charger.

It’s not surprising, the leather cases have always been prone to ageing through wear and tear but Apple should have figured out a way to mitigate it properly or perhaps drop the leather cases in favour of a material that wouldn’t damage with MagSafe.

They already have cases made of other materials. And not everyone with a leather case will use MagSafe anyway.

Wasn't planning to use one anyway, but now between it damaging the cases and being three times as slow as using the Lightning Cable, I am definitely going to give it a pass.

Agreed. It’s a cool idea and I can get around the slower charging speed, but I’m good without the ring on my case. Hopefully the phone/watch charging combo thing will give the benefit without messing up accessories.

Yeah, it was cool in theory, but I don’t need a charger that damages my cases, potentially my iPhone, and charges slower than the lightning cable and charging bricks that I have. Plus I already have a wireless charger, so I’m good.
