Here’s what I did on my new iPad mini.

Restored from back-up
Let everything load and update, but didn’t touch Apple Music
Used Software Update to update to 15.0

And that’s it. Everything seems to be working normally, including Apple Music.

Well there's always some major bugs on day 1.

My 13 Pro has been delivered, by the time I get it out the box in a week or so, I am sure Apple will have issued a .1 patch, in addition to the update that is already available.
Yeah I also love to get phones on launch day and let them sit in the box for weeks over a minor bug

I don't have the time to set it up until I have a day off late next week. Meanwhile my 12 Pro needs to remain available until then. I couldn't care less about that bug that won't affect me.

Silly question can I do transfer to transfer After doing the new set up>update>erase on the new update ? As restoring back up doesn’t sync my passwords .

This is a total non-issue when using Finder to set up your new iPhone from your old one.

If you back up your old iPhone via Finder, connect your iPhone 13 (Pro) and choose to restore from that backup, then Finder will automatically download and install the new version of iOS 15 first, before it moves on to start the restore process.

You can still do a restore from backup. You need to setup as new, do software update, erases all contents, setup and restore from backup. This isn't all that bad. The nice thing is at least we have a heads up on this.
will our backup have the same update so it can be used? they have to be on the same version right?

So annoying. I am tempted to set the new phone up as a new iPhone but will that carry over my health data and will it lost my activity records with my Apple Watch? What’s the best way to get this data to a new iPhone?
If you are doing a Finder/iTunes backup, the backup must be encrypted to restore health data. However if you have your health data synced with iCloud then it should get added back when iCloud is synced.

to set up phone as new. Just do the don’t transfer over apps and dataright? Just log into iCloud and then do all the settings and download apps yourself if you want.

or is logging into icloud considered “back up”.

Excactly how i did it too and also didn't have any problems.

Yeah you all shouldn't have to set up as new, update and then wipe the device. Just restore your back up and do the software update.

So, get to home screen, do little update, restore from backup. It‘s not perfect, but I fail to see why some are making this out to be a bigger deal than it is. I‘m far more annoyed by some of the changes in iOS 15 than that.

Tried doing the transfer as per the article and I've just been met with 'Setting up Your Apple ID' and a spinning wheel for well over an hour. I'd love to give you my impressions of the phone but so far I've seen that and nothing else. The wheel spins at 120Hz though!

My normal procedure with a new device anyway, nice to get a heads up though.

I did do not transfer apps or data and just logged into my iCloud and I am now updating the app.

Just to be correct. this only occurs with clicking iCloud back up.. nothing to do with migration tool or logging into your iCloud account after clicking no transfer or apps or data?

if someone can quote me.

I will assume that since I do not use Apple music, it should not be an issue. I will just retire from a backup done at that point, then do any updates. I know that as has always been the case I will have to put my music back on from iTunes.
