Well I should've guessed that someone with such class and style would have no problem recognizing sarcasm.
My apologies.

I have a personal trainer. No I don't do marathons. That's for chicks.

There are people in the civilized world who don't believe in predetermined gender stereotypes anymore, not that running is quite a female dominated sport yet. I'm quite happy with running and swimming. You should try it too, you might enjoy it? Your personal trainer probably has you doing some leg work right? Leads to explosive sprints and speed work. You would probably scratch up a pretty decent run time with some additional training!

Excellent post edit btw.

I think this is a mistake. What about those people who spent $10K on the first generation Apple Watch? They get obsolete just like that? Apple Watch 2 should come out in 2018. People are still finding about its existence. At the end, it's just a watch, not a smartphone which we need to be buying every now and then.
People who dropped $10k on the Apple Watch should have known the device would be replaced within two years at the most. It's a piece of tech, not a Swiss masterpiece.

Oh so you were talking about Pebble.
Isn't there a pebble forum you can visit?
Maybe not enough activity because it's a niche product eh?
Last time I checked pebble is desperately trying to raise money, so it will be interesting if your super awesome watch maker even survived beyond 2016.

There is a reason why Pebble never became a mainstream product but I guess you will never understand.
If Apple took half the features of Pebble products, add smashings of Garmin features with a sprinkle of fitbit I would be extremely happy to buy the Apple watch.

Scratch that, just a 2 day battery life would have me make do and forgo my fenix 3.

This is why, in spite of being tempted to buy one since announcement, it´s gonna be worth it, just like it was with the ipad 2.

Good choice btw, was close but opted for the Garmin Fenix 3.

enjoy your Garmin. with some luck, you might even find a nice Garmin forum with millions of forum members from civilized parts of the world

you must be new to apple products.

apple does not usually compete on gimmicky "features."

I prefer the sapphire model myself as seen in the centre:

Of course I prefer the Apple watch looks, I even like the fact its square. I love Apple products so why would I not be on this forum. I want to comment on the future of the product line because I want to eventually buy one and replace my Garmin. The only thing holding me back is the battery.

I don't see why for 2 pages we've needed to argue? I'm not a fandroid or Apple hater, just a customer who would like something changed in my honest and humble opinion which could lead to me switching.

Yeah, my first reaction as well. A watch is even less of a yearly upgrade device as compared to an iPad. People can't be happy about this.

There is actually a difference between a yearly upgrade cycle for a consumer and a yearly upgrade cycle for a product. Most people don't buy a new computer every year. They get one when their machine is due for replacement (though some small subset of users does buy every release and sell their old machine this is not the norm). And same thing is true for iPads, iPhones, and a watch too. You don't have to buy the newest one. When you are in the market or feel yours doesn't do what it should, replace it.

Can you imagine selling your car every year and getting a new one because they released a new model. That's absurd.

based on the pics of most smartwatch selfies from early adopters, hairy trolls and dwarves and ogres are among the industry's most faithful demographics...

but look at that beautiful timepiece! it has a 49 day battery life with its colorful monochromatic 30-by-30 px screen!

I may buy it now. Besides the CPU bump hopefully these new features don't interest me.

My Black Stainless Steel will hold me over just fine until this second gen comes out. :D

Of course Apple is going to do a yearly update on the watch. People seem to be forgetting Apple is in the business of making money, not to justify your own insecurities about having a product that will be outdated. If you are an early adopter, they are happy because that helps them build the business and they get your money. They are a tech company and the only way to survive is to constantly improve their products and entice new customers to buy the products.

okay let's be realistic.
if you need a garmin watch to track your activities and sleeping patterns, you're a part of an extreme niche demographic, which apple has no interest in.
It's very unlikely that apple watch will ever have the sensors or the design necessary to satisfy your needs for a very very long time.

It's just unrealistic to expect those features from apple. surely you must know this?

Something the Apple watch could easily squash out of existence if they just squeezed an extra day out of the battery for the Apple watch 2. I would happily use a separate watch for my swimming metrics.

No arguments there, I agree it is unrealistic for them to build swimming metrics into the apple watch at the moment.

I know full well I won't get the exact level of data and metrics from the Apple watch, (that is what the apps are for!) from the very beginning all I've asked is for an improvement from the battery situtation which could lead to apps measuring sleep etc.

There needs to be a GPS chip inside the watch to enable it to be used as a fitness monitor without the need to be tethered by Bluetooth to an iPhone. That's the most glaring change they need to make.
Amen to that. That's the biggest thing I'm missing from the current iWatch. I mean, there's plenty to improve but the GPS is a big thing in my book.

Eventually they will get there. Don't worry, they will improve battery life with each release and possibly software updates. For now, you get what you get. Either its for you or its not.
