I just hope the Apple Watch 2 comes with the option to purchase without a band. That could significantly reduce the expense of upgrading every year or two or three. I'm sure the metal bands will last at least 3-5 years before Apple changes the design.

How about Apple just make "one watch" and when you are buying it, you pick the features you want?
you select the type of casing, glass/saphire, band, screen size, etc...

The watch then feels very custom to each individual and has a more granular spectrum of price points.

Umm yes, absolutely! I have to change the battery in my watch every five years or so. I only take it off to have a bath, and that's not often because I normally shower. I'll accept one week on the AW.

The charger has been hit so bad with the ugly stick, at least give wireless charging.

What about monitoring sleep patterns? That would actually be a useful feature and leave no time to charge.

Lol good luck with that.

I don't know if you're complaining about some iPhone model from years ago, but I am unaware of a single person these days who has a problem with the iPhone6 battery life. I generally have around 75% battery at the end of a day. Even a day spent doing a LOT of reading on the phone I will still have around 20% by the end of the day.

no, i'm talking about the 4,7" iphone 6, its battery life is worse than 5s's. when i'm using my macbook most of the time iphone's battery obviously last 'till the end of the day, but on days i only use the iphone it just can't.

I love my Apple Watch, not only because of what it does, but what it doesn't do. It doesn't have facilities to surf the internet, to watch films, to FaceTime people, because it's just not a great experience.

I can see why a camera may be useful for apps like Snapchat, but seriously, who wants to take a FaceTime call on their watch? Hold your arm up to face-level for 30 seconds and see how it feels, and now imagine talking to someone for minutes like that. Madness.

Hope it offers improvements in other areas as well, as if the main selling point is a camera I for one won't be upgrading.

The idea of taking even a facetime audio call on my watch seems off. Maybe just to say "hey let me call you back in a minute when I find my phone." Otherwise, taking any call on the watch seems weird and silly. The camera is also seems strange. I am not talking to anyone on facetime with my watch. And trying to take any picture with a watch seems like a non-starter. I would vote for adding GPS though.

My thought is that we keep the watch focused on what it can do well and let each other form factor of the phone, tablet, laptop, and computer focus on their strengths. Trying to do everything the ipad or iphone can do on the watch will not make for a good experience IMO.

For sleep metrics, which is something that comes as standard on most health smart watches yes.

Do you always sleep alone?
Sleeping with watch on your wrist is going to end up scratching your loved ones' faces.

Also fitness trackers do that, not all smart watches.
I would guess that most normal people don't wear their watch to sleep, smart or not.

You can't just figure out how well you slept by how tired you feel in the morning? Is thousands of years of sleeping experience now worthless because there's a device you think accurately measures it?

Your Watch will do everything it did the day you bought it. More, actually, with software updates.

A product isn't "obsolete" until it stops working. Everyone who bought a first gen obviously had enough use for it without FaceTime and other rumored features for the second gen.

And nobody is forced to upgrade every year either. "Apple should wait 2-3 years." Why? If you don't want to buy a new one every year then...don't. Plenty of people only buy a new iPhone every other release. I'd bet most people keep their iPad even longer before upgrading.

Makes me giggle I must admit, when I think back to quite a few on these very forums stating that they think Apple would not update the watch for at least 5 years if not more.

How disillusion some people are.
Apple makes it's money from hardware sales, and how better to sell more hardware than to offer newer versions.

So many people warned you NOT to buy the 1st gen.

Myself, I'll happily get one, but only when it';s an independent device.

What crappy battery Life?
Do u expect to wear the watch while sleeping?
1. Some people do in fact wear watches while they're sleeping. Smart watches can even offer several benefits while sleeping, like sleep monitoring silent wake up.
2. A Lithium battery's total capacity declines with age. So if it can barely make it through the day when you first buy it, then in a year or two it's not even going to manage that.
3. If you go traveling, that's yet another thing you're going to have to keep charged on the way.

So, you're comparing the phone to the macbook battery? seems legit. My phone lasts all day with typical phone use, unless I'm playing a game for hours. My watch has yet to have less than %50 on it when I put it on the charger at night.

Obviously the satisfaction index is pretty high, 'cause Apple is not dumb, the iphone has a lot of other great characteristics and its poor battery life when compared to every other phone in the market is not enough do demerit its other merits, so people are satisfied, but would be much more if it had a decent battery life.

well, if decent battery is all you're arguing for, it DOES have a decent battery. the iPhone 5S and 5C iterations were low for apple standards, but for regular standards was more than 'decent', it helped retain millions of apple customers and helped millions of people looking to buy a great smartphone.

if you're paying attention to your settings (auto brightness off, background app refresh 'curation', wifi location feature off, etc), you shouldn't be having a problem unless you're a power user. which i only find acceptable if its for work. if it's personal use, get off your phone! i kid, i kid.. but imo, too many people throw up their hands and blame apple for the lemon they got (and should simply return), or they use their phone too much. in which case, buy another phone that suits your power needs i suppose.

Fine-tuned incremental hardware upgrades. Planned obsolescence. Have to wait to 3rd generation to get what you should have gotten on the 1st generation. Same pattern for all Apple products. Just be ready with the $$$.

How many hours of deep sleep did you get last night? Can your body print off a report for your doctor? Like I have to for my tinnitus?

No offence meant btw, its a useful feature for a lot of people.

Don't you know how to read? i'm telling you that when i'm using my macbook (and because of this i'm not using my iphone) then my iphone battery can last till the end of the day (because most of the time i was using the macbook, not the iphone!!!)

Well guess what.
There's not a single smart watch that will satisfy you.

I want my iPhone to cook my meals, book my reservations, do my laundry and never need to be charged.
My wishes have nothing to do with reality and neither do yours.

Hello Apple,

yes I am ok with the battery run time on my first gen Apple Watch. My wish list still stands:
- 72 hour before re-charging
- watch face always on
- don't make it ugly with a face time camera

Well guess what.
There's not a single smart watch that will satisfy you.

Actually there is a smart watch that satisfies me quite well for the most part. It's listed in my signature.
