I dont get all the whining...Apple Watch 1 - its a good watch, how is adding a few other pieces of tech outdating it? it either works for your needs or not.. minimal specs vs max specs doesnt mean its obsolete.

and in regards to a camera, how is it any more worse than holding a phone or an iPad during factime calls? wah wah wah

This is what I've been truly waiting for! Just look at the first iPhone or first iPad, they are terrible by todays standards especially in terms of form factor and performance.
Right and "Today's Standards" in tech products will look laughable when compared to next year's standards. When first iPhone and first iPad came out they were amazing and head and shoulders above the rest. You really can't compare today to how it was in the past.

Hilarious news, there's no way a new model comes out in 2016 when they are just now putting the first one in stores. A 2nd will be announced next year but won't see release until 2017 just before summer. This device is a 2 year cycle at best. And the features listed are more then obvious, anyone can make those claims.

I guess we'll just have to disagree about the type of person actually buying the Edition. I know my suspicions are different than the norm, but it's because I grew up in a country where showing off wealth superficially is more commonplace than the simple fact of rich people owning expensive things.

sure, fair enough, i won't argue the point any further, i literally would just like to see a credible link between apple's intended market for the Edition and who's buying it, what their income is, etc.. would be interesting. i don't have much anecdotal evidence one way or the other, i'm just aware of the recent decades of articles proclaiming 'america sees record number of millionaires climbing still' and 'luxury high-end markets booming amid financial recession' etc, etc.

ninja edit: not that the apple watch is infallibly America-centric ;)

I love my Apple Watch, not only because of what it does, but what it doesn't do. It doesn't have facilities to surf the internet, to watch films, to FaceTime people, because it's just not a great experience.

I can see why a camera may be useful for apps like Snapchat, but seriously, who wants to take a FaceTime call on their watch? Hold your arm up to face-level for 30 seconds and see how it feels, and now imagine talking to someone for minutes like that. Madness.

Not saying this is how YOU feel but seriously, this is the typical "I wanna make myself feel better about my purchase" post. ;)

So where are the medical/health monitor features? Oh yeah, that was last year's jive, we're on the platinum, palladium, lookit-dat-cam jive for this season of consumin' wit da fools.

Hmmm, yearly refreshes.... For a watch... Ugh Apple!
Exactly, so for the people that weren't interested in THIS version should wait a few years for Apple to make the version they will be interested in....because Apple should only think of the existing iWatch customers and hold off upgrading to keep them happy. Lordy.

Apple has conducted market research and determined that, despite early concerns, most customers are satisfied with their Apple Watch's battery life

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If Apple did this research to the iPhone they would find that 99% of iPhone users (regular sized iphones, not the iphablet) are NOT satisfied with iphone's battery life, including myself (how can i6's baterry last less than 5S's?, which is already pretty bad), and they would have to significantly improve it...BUT, since they do everything for the sake of design and try to shave every milimeter possible, they would never do that for increasing battery life.

A new Wi-Fi chip inside the Apple Watch 2 will expand the wrist-worn device's iPhone-free Wi-Fi capabilities for basic tasks, possibly including text messaging, emailing and up-to-date weather data. The new wireless chipset will also enable Find my Watch for tracking a lost, stolen or misplaced Apple Watch using Wi-Fi router triangulation technology as opposed to GPS.

This doesn't sound right. The chip in the Apple Watch is a BCM4334 (http://www.chipworks.com/about-chip...ple-watch-launch-confirms-wifi-and-nfc-inside) this is the same chip found inside an iPhone 5 or 5S and is used by many other smartphones. It would appear this chipset would be more than capable of performing these tasks if necessary! Based on this I think this whole rumour is one that someone has plucked out of their arse.

Whilst I think there will be a version 2 (who doesn't) I'm not sure it will be delivered in the timeframe in this rumour. Quoting from "sources" within the original article also makes me suspicious. Pure speculation and a few guesses but backed up by incorrect ideas and junk theory.

After using my Apple Watch twice for phone calls, using it for FaceTime seems to be an ergo-nightmare.

I have a feeling it will be used for nefarious purposes, which will probably only increase sales.

sorry for being out of the loop but like what?

Yeah, and suck up a large portion of the battery.the WiFi triangulation, if it's there, will fix most of that problem.

Eventually, when the newer GPS chips that are coming out in the next two years or so, are out, then adding GPS won't be a problem. This is like when LTE first came out, and Apple didn't have it. The first Android phone that did, either by HTC or LG, I forget, had just a 2.5 hour battery life when it was on all the time, even if you weren't using it. People were saying that iPhone users were too lazy to "manage" their phones, and that was why we didn't have it. What nonsense! When the new chips came out, we all got it, and the issue died. The same will happen with the watch.

It doesn't change what I wrote. For the Apple Watch to actually be useful, rather than a niche, it needs to be able to be untethered from the iPhone when out of the house. Wifi triangulation is fine but it's a poor choice. If Apple wants to continue to tout the product as being sport centric, at least in a large part, then it needs to have a GPS inside. Until then, it's not a sport device.

Well, I needed a decent looking (ie not plastic or cheap ass looking fossil) watch to complete my ensemble since I trashed my movado, and all the extra stuff it did was a bonus. I don't need a new watch now, so I don't see buying the gen 1 as a loss any way I look at it.

You sure about that? We're talking about Apple Watch. It's not something one would show off to others or enjoy for any period of time, unlike a mansion, yacht, jewelry, etc. It has zero redeeming qualities. I'd expect high-end clients to buy high-end stuff. Just not Apple Watches.

A client order a modified gold plated 5c despite it being a inferior phone to the 6 & 6+. It's not the question of the concierge company to ask, only to make sure the 20% commission is paid to the relevant people and guarantee the work.

These are people who one minute want a new Bentley and the next only a £200 pair of Nike trainers.
Also the apple watches have been popular as gifts for family, friends and teenagers.

Most are footballers (soccer + WAGs), boxers, etc.

I don't believe these are the people buying the Edition watch.

These are the people sharing photos of theirs on social media.
Sure, some celebs might have gotten them for free but certainly no freebies for Tuhaos in China.

Well, there's their problem. They surveyed existing customers on battery life, of course early adopters would be happy that's the type of people they are.

I'll never buy one until they fix the gawd damn crappy battery life, just like the rest of the normal world.

yay time to save for a new one.

and yes i have been very pleased with the entire watch battery and all with the exception of app load time but it looks like that will be addresses soon
