HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If Apple did this research to the iPhone they would find that 99% of iPhone users (regular sized iphones, not the iphablet) are NOT satisfied with iphone's battery life, including myself (how can i6's baterry last less than 5S's?, which is already pretty bad), and they would have to significantly improve it...BUT, since they do everything for the sake of design and try to shave every milimeter possible, they would never do that for increasing battery life.

i do love how when someone has an issue with something personally, the number of others who feel similarly rockets up to 99% in most cases.
i'd find anything close to merely a third still being somewhat questionable. http://appleinsider.com/articles/13...-win-in-jd-power-customer-satisfaction-survey

Retina MacBook has 480p FaceTime camera, the 2 in Apple Watch 2 is for its 240p FaceTime camera.

Well, there's their problem. They surveyed existing customers on battery life, of course early adopters would be happy that's the type of people they are.

I'll never buy one until they fix the gawd damn crappy battery life, just like the rest of the normal world.

What crappy battery Life?
Do u expect to wear the watch while sleeping?

If I still don't see the point in smart watches, I guess adding a camera won't change anything (actually, I think the idea is a little ridiculous, but hey, it's entertaining).

I think this is a mistake. What about those people who spent $10K on the first generation Apple Watch? They get obsolete just like that? Apple Watch 2 should come out in 2018. People are still finding about its existence. At the end, it's just a watch, not a smartphone which we need to be buying every now and then.
Apple would get left in the dust by the competition if it waited years to upgrade it watch. You know that Samsung is going to be updating MULTIPLE models per year to try to expand their watches' capabilities.

And no, a device doesn't go obsolete just because a new one came out. "Obsolete" is a word I'm tired of people using all the time, same thing with 'innovation'. Bleh, totally lost its meaning for me.

And you don't need to worry about the people buying the 10k apple watches - their life will go on

Looks like folks who waited for Gen 2 of the Apple Watch made the right decision.

Yeah, I knew gen 2 would've added a handful of new features. I will most likely buy gen 2 if the battery life improved or is at the very least maintained with the extra functionality.

GPS would be a great addition too!

Bad news for the early adopters.
And some of us aren't made of money.

I'm not made of money. Some people who wait for a second generation product seem to think we're "guinea pigs", or that it's "bad news" for early adopters. There's no bad news for us. We have a great fun product today, and if choose to upgrade in a year, we'll also have a great product then also.

Without being made of money, some people opt to sell their iPad and iPhone most years. They can get a surprisingly high price for selling it, which does help offset the price of a new product.

Not at all. That's EXACTLY what being an early adopter means. Plus we get to enjoy it for a year till next release instead of sitting and waiting...
And then those early second gen adopters will be sorry they didnt wait for third gen, those suckers.

Maybe everyone should wait for gen 3 since it's certain to be better than 2. ;)

In the meantime I'll be loving my gen 1 watch for as long as I wish, upgrading if I feel like it when a new one is released.

Meh, I'm fine not having a camera. The only thing mentioned in the article that appeals to me is the assurance I can track my watch if I lose it by accident or crime. Based on past experience, I think that timeline will slip to 2017. When I DO want to upgrade to a new watch, I'm sure I'll be able to get a good price on eBay to help fund the new one.

Actually, the definition of obsolete means to be replaced by something new or newer.

I prefer to use OoS (Out of support). Meaning Apple will no longer support the device with firmware/software updates and there is no more hardware replacement (warranty or out of warranty) options available.

Despite gaining several new features, the Apple Watch 2 will likely have similar battery life as the original model. The report claims that Apple has conducted market research and determined that, despite early concerns, most customers are satisfied with their Apple Watch's battery life, allowing Apple engineers to focus their efforts on other areas besides battery improvements.

Well it looks like I will never be buying an Apple Watch.

Why would Apple stop innovating? If you spent $10K on an Apple Watch gen 1, so what? If you have the money to blow, go ahead and do it again on gen 2 - or get a cheaper edition for gen 2 - or keep gen 1, there's nothing forcing you to update.

As for looking for a price point between $1K and $10K, I think Apple is looking in the wrong spot. How about a price point under $350? Until they either get some killer apps or lower the barrier to entry, I don't think it's going to sell in quantities comparable to the iPhone or iPad.

Obviously the satisfaction index is pretty high, 'cause Apple is not dumb, the iphone has a lot of other great characteristics and its poor battery life when compared to every other phone in the market is not enough do demerit its other merits, so people are satisfied, but would be much more if it had a decent battery life.

Umm yes, absolutely! I have to change the battery in my watch every five years or so. I only take it off to have a bath, and that's not often because I normally shower. I'll accept one week on the AW.

The charger has been hit so bad with the ugly stick, at least give wireless charging.

What about monitoring sleep patterns? That would actually be a useful feature and leave no time to charge.

I call BS...

1. WatchOS2 is in beta now and will be most likely complete by end of summer (September). To say Apple would take 6+ months to develop an already released dev beta is stretching it. 2016 is six months off and Apple will sure not be releasing any new watch in January nor hold WatchOS2 till mid 2016. If the article said WatchOS "3" i'd believe it a bit more.
LOL, if you think Apple would pass up the opportunity of upgrading their watch and putting it out there before Xmas then you may want to take Marketing 101.

I don't know if you're complaining about some iPhone model from years ago, but I am unaware of a single person these days who has a problem with the iPhone6 battery life. I generally have around 75% battery at the end of a day. Even a day spent doing a LOT of reading on the phone I will still have around 20% by the end of the day.
