I ordered the 45mm midnight aluminium with abyss blue woven loop. Delivery on 23rd October. Could have gone and picked it up sooner but decided I couldn’t be bothered.

I have decided to go with the Stainless Steel model. Honestly the $300 extra is worth not having the worry about the screen scratching. I also decided to go with Graphite this year.
I usually get the SS model as well but, decided that the increase in price over last year was not worth it to me. I went with aluminum instead. I will probably upgrade next year anyway so, decided to save some money.

I went 45mm Starlight Aluminum (I’m a guy) which is way out of my norm but I *know* I’ll be buying the Series 8 next year (I anticipate a big sensor / battery update year, and perhaps the mystery flat watch I think was meant for this year shows up) so I figured if I was going to do something different this would be the year (probably only have the watch 11 months).

Previously I have had stainless steel for a year, but then 4 years of Space Black Stainless and a year of Space Gray… so pretty much just the black “monolith” watches and I wanted something that had a noticeable lighter colored frame around the screen. Maybe I’ll hate it lol….

Hoping the series 8 is the redesign many of us wanted, I ordered a 41mm Nike GPS+cellular Starlight. May return it for graphite to match my 13 pro or titanium when availability increases.

I would seriously recommend the extra spend. I always have gotten the SS model as it, and the sapphire display are simply unscratchable. I work in a machine shop and have NEVER taken mine off. Meanwhile my wife always bought the aluminum and every year they are scratched to crap by the time we want to get new ones. Mine sell every year for $500+ on FB, so I spend about $200-$250 per year for the upgraded device. Last year my wife finally sprung for the SS...she now agrees, never going back.

My only concern with this is that this year it looks like Apple has REMOVED the DLC coating from the SS (probably just like the colors, to force people to go one model up) and it is now ONLY on the Titanium black.... so I am thinking SS will get scratched to hell now....

Stainless and titanium appear to have identical tech specs. No mention of DLC coating.

Titanium SB is advertised with the coating (DLC). The others aren’t. But it wouldn’t be the first time Apple just misses to write that detail down. Time will tell.

If this is just an omission, it needs to be fixed FAST or there are going to be a ton of returns. DLC on the SS is the difference between a mint looking SS in a year or looking like the back of one of the original iPods in a week. It's THAT significant....

Does anyone know if the Titanium Apple Watch 7 comes with the color matched sport band in addition to whatever other band you choose when ordering? I don't see any mention of this on Apple's website. I really like the color of the light grey sport band that came with the natural titanium models in the past.
If you scroll down on the "buy" page of the Titanium watch, "What's in the Box" shows the color matched Sport Band is included.

If I am not mistaken, Apple accidentally omitted the DLC option on the SS a few years ago during orders and once enough people complained, they added it back to the tech sheet. I am guessing it is another oversight by Apple.

The steel models were the same price this year as last. I’m confused.

All that prep and I decided to change my choice the next day

Cancelled the graphite SS and wanted to order the SB Ti with this combo it won't let me even order it lol.

I guess no watch for me any time soon. Hopefully by end of year

Ordered green aluminum with standard green loop (through verizon so i had no choice - would have gotten the leather otherwise or the darker green loop). was reconsidering and getting the SS but will likely upgrade again in a year or two so will save my money and possibly go back to SS and sapphire then. absolutely love the green as it's very dark in person from what I saw at the store, just beautiful) and I have had a SS model (series 2) for 5 years and want to try out aluminum for the weight and different appearance. that will also help me decide what to do in a year or two when i get something i plan to use longer.
