If you own a Series 7, then Series 8 is a complete joke. Same watch.

I have never been as let down on a watch upgrade as this year. Apple was clearly aiming to sell the ULTRA.
The Ultra has fallen from the fugly tree and despite the size doesn’t have a display that is much bigger.
45mm
396 x 484 pixels
1,143 sq mm display area

49mm
410 x 502 pixels
1,164 sq mm display area

I guess they need more competition to up their game and for the most part they have little on the smart watch side of things.

I was all on board w/ 8 because of the temp sensor, but it's only used for tracking menstrual cycles... (which is great for women, but I don't benefit :p).
Yeah, it seems odd that Apple could only find a use that benefited at most only 50% of their customers. Considering that a referb Graphite SS 45mm is now $550, I find it super hard to justify the extra $200.

‘Persons of menstruation,’ please

… is there really no other purpose for the sensor??
I think they can use it for sleep tracking as well but who knows.

Many are correct. S7 and S8 is a small upgrade. Oh well, many will still upgrade anyway.

The crash alert will be useful for my wife who doesn't have an apple watch. Other than that I am not sure if it is worth the upgrade.

You right about that there will be many who will upgrade from the S7 to S8 trying to justify the upgrade 😂😂

Yeah, well, at least temptation is out the window for me. $ saved :D

Very poor Apple. Worst revision yet. At least they could have bumped the battery life as it is essentially the same watch, but I guess that would have stolen some thunder from the Ultra.
Yeah it was terrible it’s basically the same as series 7, if they at least said now series 8 has the double brightness I would of brought it but nope it’s just the series 7

I don’t it would have, the ultra has the same screen size as 45mm so most people wouldn’t get the ultra for a bigger screen, so they could if made the brightness better for series 8 at least, it isn’t even worth an upgrade

So glad I pulled the trigger on a cheap 7 on Prime day and didn't wait for the 8. They are so similar that they may as well just have skipped the 8 this year.

Should I upgrade from an SS S6? I don't know which one to go with tbh. Doesn't seem worth it, but the upgrade itch is in for me, to go with my iPhone 14 Pro lol.

If the only differences in S7 vs S8 are:
  • Temp sensor (for women)
  • 20% faster (big whoop)
  • Crash alert
S7 is looking great!!
The S8 is actually not faster than the S7. The S8 marketing on the Watch SE is 20% than the last model which used the S5 chip (from the Series 4 and Series 5). The Series 6 was 20% faster and the Series 6, 7, and 8 is using essentially the same chip

Was looking forward to upgrading from 3 to 8 for a while, but them taking away the blue color and not providing as much of an updated, lead me to just order a brand new 7 from Walmart for $329
