Do you need iOS 10 to install watchOS 3 or will current do? Do you install profile to watch : iPhone or both please ?

Yes you do need iOS installed on the iPhone before you can even see the watchOS 3.0, even if you installed the beta profile on the watch.

And yes, you need to install the watchOS beta profile on the watch.

If I understood you guys correctly we don't have the honeycomb screen anymore?
But how are we supposed to start apps that are not in the dock? Any beta user can answer this?

Nope.

No changes to the Workout app as far as I can see.

This is new, for instance.

I'm disappointed in one thing:

I didn't get off my duff and write the app idea I had, which was to make a timer app with quickly-accessible favorite time intervals. Apple beat me to it with the new version of their Timer.

Say, for example, the things I time most regularly are the laundry washer and dryer, and they always run the same duration (29-minute wash, 45-minute dry). Because they're used by others in my apartment building, I don't want to leave my stuff in the laundry room to occupy the machines, and I like to leave my phone behind which means I lose access to Siri. I want to start my timer with as few as two taps instead of, "tap-scroll carefully... no, not 59 minutes, no not 35... carefully... ok, 45 minutes..-tap Start."

Apple's adding this very feature to the stock Timer app. Dang it. I gotta learn to write code faster. ;)

A few third party apps are still slow to load, but the basic apps like weather, activity, calendar, etc. all load way faster and are more responsive. A few of the third party apps I use are notably faster as well. Animations seem smoother in general. This is what I would have expected on day one, but it took them a whole year to get the software to a decent state.
As long as the app is in your dock (you can have up to 10), you have almost instant access (just swiping to get there) to apps that are already running and experience no delay in using them. Imagine all the apps in your dock in Mac OS X running on your Mac. You click an app and it's there. That's what it's like,

Just curious, how does one activate Digital Touch now?
It's right there instead of 'Reply'. You select what you want to reply with. It's no longer limited to users with a watch. It's there for any iMessage thread. It's great. But do not overlook scribble. It's perfect.

Honeycomb still there. But the idea here is that it's something you barely see since you're using apps on your dock.

Any new workouts in the workout app?
If you are wheelchair user, you can turn on wheelchair mode (on your iPhone -> Watch -> Health). This enables two wheelchair workouts - walking and running speed.

Not a new workout but the workout app remembers your last workout and it's settings (distance/calories/open) and gives this as a first option. For example Outdoor walk with Open goal. Choosing that starts said workout immediately.

It also now displays more information during the workout. Too lazy for screenshot, but you see name of workout, current time, time passed, distance traveled, speed and heart rate.

Some of new faces that show on your phone.
[doublepost=1465859699][/doublepost]I like that I can disable screen shots... no more random pictures taken :) Love the new activity chronograph watch face. You can also set more settings for the wake screen beyond just return to watch face after 15 seconds or 70 seconds.
[doublepost=1465860763][/doublepost]I put Carrot weather in the dock and it instantly comes up with the current temp without refreshing. That was a nice find... definitely put items in the dock that you want faster access but it seems to be best when you have a complication for the item. There are some quirks when you can add complications on the watch but you don't have those choices available when you configure your complication from the Apple Watch App on your iPhone. It is nice that you can setup your watch face from the App on your iPhone.

I'm really digging the new Activity faces. What are the color/complication options on those faces?

Also, in the keynote they quickly said there would be enhancements to current watch faces, such as complications on the Photo face. That's the only reason I haven't used the Photo face much. What else has changed for the current faces?

They both have the normal range of colors but not the multicolor one that Modular has. Digital Activity face's colors are very light. So instead of the normal "strong" orange/red/... you just have slightly tinted whites. In the Analog one the ring is the color you choose, while complications are white and the activity rings are their usual colors. In the Digital one, the time is the color you choose, the rest is like in the Analog one.

They both have all the complications available (and there are now more complications, like Workout, Music, Heart rate). They both have 3 slots (2 small ones and 1 big) + the chronograph Analog also shows date.

How do you label workouts "like Pilates and Boxing"? Is this on the watch in the workout app and/or in the iOS activity watch after you complete the workout? And can you filter these new workouts in the iOS Activity app in the Workouts tab like the system workouts?

Still no option/setting to wear the watch on the INSIDE of the wrist? Can't be hard to implement!?

I like that when you have a workout, it shows on your rings with the label of the workout taken from the app you used.

I added a workout from Fitness Builder and launched the workout other app and the graph shows the Fitness Builder

And you finally get a frequent location notification when you get in your car. At one point, this was in watchOS2 but as a text inside the Maps glance instead but was removed in later releases of OS2. Im glad it's finally back. I don't have to check my iPhone anymore:

In ref to post 1068 above, I am picking it up pretty quickly. I love this thing!!
I have been on a weight loss quest since January and have lost 52lbs so far. My tracking app on the iPhone drops its data almost every other work out, but this watch is doing a great job of keeping up and reporting with me doing nothing after the initial setup.
In the past, a watch was too much trouble to wear, but now my Apple watch is a part of me. First thing I do in the morning is strap it on (I just bought a Milanese Loop) and I just leave my phone plugged in on my nightstand. I don't need it :)
Wow, congrats! Glad you're enjoying it!

I can't decide if it's appropriate to add Scribble. It's not really a "little thing"

For beta 1, I'm adding all features whether it's little or not. For future betas, I'll limit it to little things only. I think this will be clearer so users can quickly glance at the new things introduced and then drill down to what future betas changed or introduced.

Is "Now Playing" now a part of control center?
No, it's an app that only resides in the Dock. It's not in the "app honeycomb". It's basically identical to what the Music app's "Now Playing" view is. It just doesn't have the rest of the Music app.

Thanks for the reply.

That is fine, as long as I can easily get to the controls for all the audio on my iPhone. Are there any other Dock only apps?
