Can you elaborate? Are you using a separate sensor or have Apple activated the oxygen sensor supposedly build in...
It could be similar to Fitbit's implementation and they don't have an oxygen sensor
[doublepost=1496844474][/doublepost]great! thanks. The HR app seems useful now!

just curious, how regular are the readings compared to os3?

If I play music on my phone, the watch automatically brings up now playing so you can change volume, songs, play/pause from the watch instead of the phone. Now how do I get it to do this for my iPad as well lol

So the camera work during the keynote was disappointing, they jump to a different view when the slide was displayed showing the complete list of changes for watch OS4. So does anyone know where we can get a copy of the keynote slides? Or is there a change list available somewhere?
[doublepost=1496826507][/doublepost]Now that maps are available in Apple Health after a run, can you use an app like RunGap to export your run or cycle to strava with full map capabilities? I would prefer to use the activity app on my watch to record an activity but need a way of exporting
My guess is that RunGap would need to add this into their app to support this. This would be huge, however.

I could have sworn I read or heard that WatchOS 4 would have context aware complications - so complications that would change based on location. Can anyone confirm that this is a coming feature and if it has been implemented yet?

I'll confirm some of this.. I have WatchOS 4 on my Series 2 Apple Watch.. went to Target last night. Went to checkout, it pulled my cartwheel app up on the siri watch face. I do not have that setup as part of anything other than having the app on my watch/phone. So I would assume the locations section of awareness is now being implemented. It was both freaky and amazing.. i'm still a bit shocked it knew what to do.

[doublepost=1496868160][/doublepost]It won't, watch is companioned to phone, not iPad

I don't have any special equipment but my Apple Watch. Just noticed after my run that it also logged the VO2 max. It probably uses the standard formula, like Fitbit does.

Can you check the source of the data logged to the VO2 max?

Mine doesn’t show up. Do you have to turn an option on for this?

Nope. I haven't done anything special. What type of workouts did you try it with?

It says my Apple Watch. Nothing else in the list:

No, they don't run at the same time. You can start a new workout while doing a first workout, which essentially stops the first workout and begins a new one. When you are finished it has them listed individually. It's a simply way to add an additional workout without having to stop one, save it, then start a new one. I used it last night for HIIT and then biking. Really slick.
Since you workout, how is the battery life? I workout and I remember using betas and after a workout it drained the battery stupid fast. I'd appreciate the feedback.

Also what sources do you have for apps? I wonder if an app open the option for you? (Under health, sources)

Thanks

I don’t use any third party health/workout apps except Sleep++

Not who you asked, but battery life is terrible. Ended up having to charge it at 7 PM after putting the watch on at 10AM. Worked out from 5-6 PM and ended up with a 6% battery.

But this is just the first beta, so it's fine.

so it's possible it could be using the oxygen sensor or use the data from the watch to calculate it

pretty cool either way :)

I would not be surprised if Apple is using Firstbeat, like Garmin do to calculate VO2 Max. This metric is calculated pretty accurately using a combination of GPS (pace) and heart rate, plus a bunch of sophisticated algorithms. I read somewhere that Firstbeat is accurate to within 90-95% of a proper medical assessment and it learns to improve this overtime.

I've been wearing a Garmin Fenix 5s, and this uses Firstbeat for the backend and it'll be interesting to see how closely Apple correlate with Garmin. I notice that active calories between the two companies are pretty similar when I run (which is why I think Apple may be using Firstbeat as well).

So Music is pretty messed up it seems? I use my watch all the time as a remote for my phone. I'll Ask Siri to play an album or playlist, skip songs or navigate through my music to choose something to play on the phone and I'm in other rooms around the house or the office. Is most of this broken on 4?

Then you’re in for a treat. Anytime I play music on my iPhone, the now playing app automatically pops up on the watch so you can control music playback. I wish this would happen for my iPad lol
