Funny - I was wondering if it was related to that - as I use my watch for a lot of swimming workouts, and something wacky always seems to happen (workout paused, random app open, etc).
Yup. I often lock the screen for a workout even though I don't swim. I usually locked my Garmin 410's touch-sensitive bezel, too.

Haven't seen this anywhere: I just restarted my watch and when it booted back up it had reset to the default list of watch faces. Had to manually delete them all and re-add the few I wanted. Not a huge deal for me but a bit annoying. Will report it. Anyone else experience this? It also happened to me when I updated to Beta 2 but I passed that off as an update bug.

Also, does the "My Faces" section in the Watch.app on the iPhone work for anyone else? It doesn't seem to stay in sync for me at all and making changes there doesn't do anything. Also, trying to edit a face in the app doesn't include third-party complications. Working on writing all of this up for bug reports but just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same or different.

Finally, I'm planning to submit it as a feature request but wouldn't it be nice if we could reorder watch faces on the watch like we can do with apps in the watchOS 3 Dock? (Hopefully I'm not just missing a way that this is possible.)

Happened to me on beta 1 and on beta 2 yesterday. A reboot by holding both buttons down remedied it for me.

You can already rearrange your faces. No need to send feedback on that.

Watch app on iPhone. Tap edit on the right where your added watch faces are. Grab the right side handle and drag it (see screenshots, pay attention to the X-Large face.)

Yeah, I'm aware of that. 1) I'm saying that I would like to be able to do it on the Apple Watch itself rather than relying on the phone to do so. That you can't do yet, unless I'm missing something. I think that's easily a feature that could be implemented and should exist. 2) At least for me, the Watch.app doesn't fully work yet. When I rearrange the faces in the app on my phone it does nothing to update it on my watch. Already reported that issue to Apple.

For #1) It seems much easier to do all that from the larger iPhone screen. But I suppose that's just my preference. The watch isn't really meant to be holding up for long periods of time, fiddling with things.

For #2) It updates instantly on my watch when I make a change or rearrange the faces from the iPhone Watch app. Perhaps some rebooting or re-pairing is needed to fix yours?

GEEK COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.

After updating to Watch OS 3 and iOS 10 beta, reboot your phone after upgrading your Watch to iOS 3.

The Watch app did not show the purple "Dock" item until after rebooting, which meant I was tediously deleting then re-adding items to the Dock to get them in order, all the while wishing you could do it from the app.

Reboot the phone because the iOS app needs to refresh to show new features now that the Watch has been upgraded to iOS3.

Also right now the communication is buggy as hell - to be expected - and what Faces show up in My Faces are often very different to what is on your Watch.

Updating from Beta 1 to Beta 2, all of my Watch faces were wiped and replaced with sample ones BUT my customised ones were still showing in the My Watch App. Reboot twice of both devices did not fix, but the following did force a sync:
  • Add a new watch face on Watch. (make a change)
  • Immediately edit My Faces on the phone app, reorder one face. (make a change)
  • Reboot both Watch and phone.
  • Watch boots with last sample face in first position, but now with all your faces back, but to the right of them.
  • Change watch face to one of your old ones, reboot.
  • Back to all old faces, and in sync.
To avoid all that - moral is to screenshot your favorite faces should you need to recreate or reorder them. And now you can in the app, much faster than on the Watch.

This (when finished) is sooo much better than before. I am loving this upgrade.

EDIT: Well no sooner than I post then My Watch has lost all My Faces, and none of the above works anymore, so doing a re-pairing!

Battery has been the same. Hard to gauge in less than 24 hours for direct comparison but it hasn't been worse. Doesn't seem better which was slight less than OS2. 10-20% less. Activity watch face is still slow to load on a wrist raise.
Seems also the activity circles aren't refreshing at every wrist raise

hi I'm experiencing the same watch face lack of syncing
can you enlarge the map in the workout on iPhone now?

Is Activity in your dock? My circles update no problem.

Hard reset (press both buttons until it restarts). Fixed the issue for me, hasn't happened since.

I'm digging the new beta... so far (knock wood) no issues for me.

....and the rodents started talking! Both the Mr. and the Mrs. :)

Now if I could just stop this thing from telling me to stand up and breathe.... been doing that all by myself for a few years now, don't need the help! :p

So after a couple of days of use, how's everyone's battery holding up? I'm currently on 2.2.1 and My battery normally is between 40-50% charge at the end of an 18 hour day. Is this possible with beta 2?

More or less, yes. Depends on the watch face, number of complications, complications and apps in your Dock.

Had mine on for around 3 hours now. Received 15+ notifications, have 5 apps in the dock and have used two of them (which were already up to date when I got there btw) and I'm at 93% battery so I'd say yes.

We seem to be unable to understand that everyone's battery life will be different.

Not really, just trying to get the general consensus regarding battery life. This is a forum where people come to get the opinions and experiences of other users/developers.
Your comments are both unhelpful and rude!

For some reason on watch OS3 Beta 2, my battery is draining really bad. Beta 1 was not so bad.

Battery life has improved for me substantially in beta 2. Previously I would end up at 15% by 5PM. Terrible. Yesterday, with around the same usage, was 15% by 10PM, which to me, is acceptable, but worse than watchOS 2 standards, where I would end up with 40% even at midnight.

Okay, quick question guys...
When the official public release comes out for WatchOS 3 in September, how do we update from the Dev Beta to the Public? Is it just going to pop up in Software Update on the app, or how did it work last year?

Cheers!

I couldn't last a day...more like a few hours for me on OS 3 beta 2. I unpaired/re-paired and still did not help

And mine is not. Huh, different experiences for different users...

Plus, you've asked the same question two days in a row (see attached). What is the answer you're looking for, since several people answered you yesterday?

As I said, I'm looking for a general consensus.
I asked yesterday for people's initial thoughts and again today after a day's use to get a general consensus of battery performance!
What is your problem?
Again, this is a forum where people come to share there experience and discuss the beta.
If you have a problem with that maybe you should try going elsewhere as you obviously don't understand what the point of this forum or website is!!

Can't help you if you can't understand
Thanks for the tip.

I re-paired which:
  • Fixed watch face problem. (so far)
  • Needed me to manually install about half my apps back to the watch.
  • Things seem snappier now

Yeah, I'm sure the few people who have mentioned this issue have done similar. I was determined to find an alternative to starting from scratch.

Well since people seem to be sharing battery life, I'll throw mine out there too. Right now it's about 9PM where I am and I put my watch on at about... Let's say 6:50AM or so. I have 7 apps in my dock and have been doing some light usage. Checked the weather a few times, used the now playing controls once or twice, and otherwise just used it as a time piece as normal. And right now I just hit 59%. So not too bad. I still think that overall battery seems to drain a little bit faster than before but what with keeping apps frozen in the background that's to be expected. And if I can get to 9PM with over half the battery left, I'm good with that easily!

I will say that on Beta 1 doing an hour workout in the morning drained probably about 20% so that's a hard hit. Haven't tested workout tracking yet on Beta 2, hopefully it isn't as rough.

So there you go, hopefully that's a good sign! At least a couple of us seem to be getting pretty good battery life so hopefully we can look forward to that being what we should see at the final.
