For all the things Apple has "fumbled" on, they have also been extremely successful at others (Watch Series 3, Airpods, iPhone X, etc).

Interesting. Two of the three products you mention—the watch and airpods—are accessories. They supplement another product. In fact, the iPhone was considered an accessory when it was conceived.

Collectively, these bestselling products demonstrate Apple's evolution from a tool maker to a toy maker. Apple used to emphasize how its products enabled creativity but Jobs overestimated the motivations and aptitudes of the general population. When the iPod attracted pedestrians to its stores, Apple eventually realized those customers only wanted to be entertained. With minority interest for its legacy products, Apple is losing its own motivation and vision for making the tools that create the content.

:apple: Pride Band in Space Grey please... Do ya hear me Tim? :p

I would so dig a Pride nylon loop.

Unless I missed something from a prior post from another member, I believe you mean “42 mm.”

You can do it in either size, last I checked. Which, admittedly, was a while ago, but you can.

Do people actually collect these things? Like, "Gee, wiz! I wish I had bought that version of the yellow sport band before it went to complete my yellow collection of watch bands!"...

Nothing but white looks good with my ceramic watch.

Those of us with SS and aluminum find a good many that look nice with our watches, yes. And, I totally wish I'd bought the purple one before it was discontinued.
[doublepost=1526671485][/doublepost]Woo! There's a good sale at Best Buy. :)

As I sit here, trying to render of complex 3D scene, calculating how many hours and days it will take on out of date hardware, I am glad to know Apple is concentrating on this.

Apple as usual has its priorities straight.

If I were Apple's CEO I would make it mandatory to unlock the new Mac Pro and a future Mac Mini with an Apple Watch. Just out of spite.

As long as all these bands will fit the new watch, I'll buy the new watch. If they do not fit, I guess I'm holding out.

I'm guessing they will fit, though. Maybe not the generation AFTER this next one, but the band system is good, so why change it? I think they do brisk band sales.

Drama queens. :D

The pride ones sold like crazy last year. I have one, but I still wear it some. I had the original one, that I bought off eBay (the one that was for employees only), but I felt bad hanging on to it, so I sold it for double what I paid for it. Score!

You can buy a 32mm link band and add as many links as you want.
At £449 I can only assume you are well heeled or an Apple employee/shareholder!

This happens every season. The violet and pink fuschia bands last Fall season were extremely popular and remained rare and out of stock.

The people who get triggered don't even buy extra bands, and just say "expensive!" because they don't have the money to have a collection. Savage, but that is the truth.

I wonder how many bands they sell given that you can buy third party ones at a fraction of the price and there is no technology there, is just a band.
I bought 3 bands from Amazon spending less money than the price of a single original band and they're good.

No, they suck. The material doesn't last putting an expensive watch at-risk, and gathers dust.

They are technically accessories, though I am sure they get more attention and R&D than most companies "products". Calling them accessories and dismissing the amount of innovation that goes into them is kind of sad. Nobody else has been able to release a product like Airpods, even a few years later.

The shortage of Spring Collection bands could foreshadow Apple's plans to unveil a new Summer Collection of bands, perhaps at WWDC in June

Oh, please yes. The last thing I want to see at WWDC is info on the new OSes and silly software tools. It's all about the bands. I sure hope they don't waste any precious time during the keynote on hardware and software, watch bands are what matters.

You can buy a good quality third-party Apple Watch band on Amazon for the same as the sales tax on the equivalent Apple band. I don't know what Apple is thinking here. I can only assume that their chief designer is chauffered to work in a solid gold Bentley every day, and thinks everyone lives like that.

Sport Loop and Woven Nylon bands are awesome. I have four of each.
Sports loop is decent for me. But woven nylon band is amazing. I now almost always wear my blue woven nylon band and leave my pink sand sports loop behind despite the color mismatch.

Reality distortion field you know. When you are in, you don’t wanna get out.

Not worry, instead of a new Mac Mini or Mac Pro we'll just get new bands.

Not a relevant comparison for the sake of discussion, even though it appears you’re disgruntled over other things with Apple. But to just entertain your post, it takes significantly less time, money and labor to manufacture a Nylon sport band than it does a Mac Mini or Mac Pro.

Apple gets more irrelevant by the day. How about a F#####g computer Tim?????

Wouldn’t the -Apple Watch- actually be the opposite, being that actually it _is_ relevant compared to how it has dominated the smart watch sector. Again another frivolous comment someone conflating a computer complaint in a Apple watch article.

Who said that? It's blatantly obvious that they're either not putting the proper resources towards developing Macs or they just don't care about the Mac anymore. Just because the people developing bands aren't the same as the ones working on the Mac doesn't mean that Apple shouldn't put more emphasis on the Mac.

>Just released iMac Pro
>New Mac Pro being developed

Those are some weird signs that they don’t care about the Mac or aren’t putting enough resources into it.

Agreed. They should come out with a pro desktop. Maybe one with an amazing screen attached and Xeon processors. If only such a pro version of an iMac had been released.

We are talking about Apple correct? The Worlds most valuable company. Buying companies left and right, while continuing to grow bigger and bigger. What's a couple of new computers thrown in?

I came for the comments... I wasn't disappointment.

Seriously though, sure Apple updates the Watch Bands regularly but they're a pretty easy thing to update.

Everyone would complain if they didn't update them. It's easy and add's new life to a product, and these will still fit ALL apple watches models.

I still regret not finding a 42mm Flash Sport Band. I hoped to find a third party equivalent but to no avail.

It's more evidence that Apple's cred as a tech company is evolving into one of a fashion company.

Makes perfect sense why they hired Angela Ahrendts. Mark my words, she'll be the next CEO.

and she'll introduce bluetooth enabled LED diamond earrings and necklaces that can change color with your phone. Sorta like Phillips HUE

Really wish these went on sale sometime. The sport band that ships with the watch is miserable, and I'd love a sport loop for exercising and a standard nylon band for daily use but $100 for a pair is tough to swallow.
