idk about you guys but i got my eye on that $17,000 option...gonna sell both my cars and take out a loan, gotta have that sorta gold looking case to show off to my friends.

Go look at the UK prices, I can almost buy an iPhone for the price of 42mm Aluminium one, add a decent band in and it's getting silly

Apple's really lost it this time.

Take a look at the Edition ones, the extra you pay for a gold buckle won't just buy you an iPhone, it'll buy you a pretty high spec MacPro too!

"The highest-priced Apple Watch Edition is the 42mm 18-karat Yellow Gold version with a Midnight Blue Classic Buckle that also includes gold accents."

That one is actually only $15,000. The most expensive ones for some reason are the smaller 38mm, 18-karat yellow gold with the Bright Red Modern Buckle or the 38mm Rose gold with rose gray Modern Buckle, both priced at $17,000.

Huh?

Obviously Apple Really needs the money
It's not enough they gouge you on the difference between the Aluminium and Steel cases, but want to gouge you more for the bands

I'm sorry Apple, but you're not getting my business this time

Having looked at the prices of the bands alone, I wonder how they can justify the prices as you can spend more on a nice band than the watch itself

It seems you've never purchased a high-end, designer watch.

I find the pricing of the watch as well as the bands as excessive. I'm very curious to see how the first round of sales go, I just can't see them hitting Apple's aggressive targets.

On second thought, the Black Classic Buckle is the same as the Milanese... I'd probably go for the classic then... I'll have time to decide until April 10.

Hopefully all versions will be available in store to try them out.

I actually think Apple get the price just right. I hope the watches won't flood the market. It doesn't matter if it's too expensive for some and too cheap for others. The people who buy and wear it, will do with care. It's not like buying junkies from 5 dollars shop.

I think in person it will look more masculine to you. I've worn a similar watch band and no one ever said it was feminine looking. In this case, think chain mail, and enjoy. Maybe call it a bit metro-sexual. But I think it is still a male band.

Maybe, I am a little disappointed in the pricing of their bands. The milanese seems to be somewhat reasonable. I replaced a SS band on one of my $700 Seiko watches once and I thought the $70 they charged was a little high. $450 for a SS band is so high. I might get the 42mm watch with a black band, but on Apple's site they only show the 38mm SS watch coming with a black band. The lineup is a little strange.

EDIT: I'd like to add, with the milanese band you are putting a lot of faith in a magnet to hold several hundred dollars worth of tech on your wrist. A little scary, no?

Serious question. Do you actually own a $10,000+ watch?

Follow up serious question. If not, would you actually ever purchase a $10,000+ watch (not just fantasize about, but actually purchase)?

I have a $50,000 watch (Ulysse Nardin El Toro), to pay $10,000 for an apple watch that will be obsolete and plummet in value once the new iteration comes out...foolhardy.

Exactly. I wouldn't spend that much on a regular watch much less a first generation electronic device. Pretty ballsy pricing.

But you're 6'8', 275, and chew on nails, so no one would dare say it looked feminine. :D:D

Wish someone would post just how strong the magnet is for the milanese loop! I see that sliding and becoming loose.

If I wanted a high end designer watch I would not be even contemplating an Apple Watch, especially a Gen 1 device

Resale of the Apple Watch in 8 months will probably be low

It's not a wise investment even if it was hand assembled by some naked ladies in your living room, as it is for a watch thats mass produced in China, I'd not even contemplate it

What does a $50,000 watch do that a normal (<$500) watch can't?

I can't wait for the much cheaper unofficial third party straps to come out only for the watch to stop working with 'uncertified strap' error messages.

Looks like we'll see a lot of aluminum sport Watches paired with Milanese Loop bands. $498-$458 total for a custom/premium option, yet still in a "consumer electronics" price bracket.

$10k +++ for an iWatch... What a joke. I'll stick to Panerai/Audemars Piguet/Rolex/Omega if i want a real timepiece in that price range.

Apple has seriously lost it. I'll rather buy new Patek Philip on any given day then 10K electronic watch. Seriously, what is Apple thinking?!?

food for thought. a hublot rubber strap costs $500 retail. Just saying. Yes, I own one.

Yeah, actually I am just gonna pull out my iPhone from my pocket and check the time, rather than spending $500-$1000 just for the sake of checking the time and acting cool....

If you wear one of these watches you are looking more "fool" than "cool."
