idk about you guys but i got my eye on that $17,000 option...gonna sell both my cars and take out a loan, gotta have that sorta gold looking case to show off to my friends.

Just invest in some gold teeth. At least those are useful.

I find the pricing of the watch as well as the bands as excessive. I'm very curious to see how the first round of sales go, I just can't see them hitting Apple's aggressive targets.

I think a lot of people in Apple will lose their jobs over this mistake. Just watch.

----------

I think in person it will look more masculine to you. I've worn a similar watch band and no one ever said it was feminine looking. In this case, think chain mail, and enjoy. Maybe call it a bit metro-sexual. But I think it is still a male band.

They didn't say it looked feminine. But they were thinking it ...

You guys/gals realize that the Rich and Celebrities love apple products as well right? $15,000 is lunch money to them. Apple is definitely catering to a wider ranger of money holders with this watch. Personally, I'll wait this one out or maybe purchase one to go on the shelf along with my iPhone 1. Maybe purchase a used one on ebay. I dunno. I doubt I need this.

A bracelet the same price as an iPad air??? Awh come on :(

Seriously this says it all. They are out of there minds with the bracelet pricing. A metal link bracelet costs more than an actual watch with a rubber bracelet?

Are we to presume the black Apple Watch looks hideous with everything but the link bracelet?

I'm highly annoyed that there are even pre-selected models for the Sport line. All the bands are the same cost so they should have just let us pick which Sport case with whatever color sport band we wanted.

I had my eye on the Sport aluminum + black sport band...naturally that option (which Apple no doubt believed would be a popular combo) is not available. So $400 for that one.

Serious question. Do you actually own a $10,000+ watch?

Follow up serious question. If not, would you actually ever purchase a $10,000+ watch (not just fantasize about, but actually purchase)?

$10k...no. But I've owned Breitlings and Panerais in the $5-$8k range. I just have an appreciation for the work that goes into a handmade watch, and the precision involved. It's like fine art on your wrist that few others have.

I'm in agreement that pricing for bands is ridiculous...

Then again, I think this is one product to let early adopters waste their cash on the first gen and for the rest of us to wait for them to lower the prices a bit and add new features on the second gen.

The Sport version, should really be the main version, in silver, space gray and gold @ $349 Then they should have a upgraded stainless steel in silver, space gray and gold @ $549 and that is it. The "Edition" price is insulting, the lack of gold on the other versions is insulting and makes me worry about the future of Apple. Why is my gold iPhone/iPad/newMacbook the same price, but if I want a watch in gold, I have to be rich.

BTW, I don't want gold anything, I am just making a point.

So I just took a look at the Canadian site for the :apple:Watch and the lowest model is $100 more here than in the US. I was thinking of getting one until that happened. :apple:Pay isn't even here yet.

I was thinking of getting the stainless steel version, especially since it doesn't look like Apple will even let you get the Sport edition without optioning up to the nicer bands, but I can't justify buying a companion device for my phone that is almost as expensive as the phone itself off contract!

That AppleTV price drop though... been thinking of getting a second for the bedroom.

It's what happens why you have to different currencies. 100$ Canadian more would make it less expensive in Canada. The pricing for the new Macbook and Macbook Air's are less expensive in Canada if you take into the exchange. If you don't think Exchange rate should be taken into account you should feel for the Japanese, in Japan the new Macbook is 150,000 in their currency units.

It seems you've never purchased a high-end, designer watch.

Every single high quality watch in say 5K+ category comes with automatic movements and not with battery powered electronics you can throw away in few year or so because you can't get a firmware update or it just doesn't sync with your host device. High end watches are investments you can use for the rest of your life and not something you end up throwing away in few years.

Quite pricey, as expected ....

I'm not sure what people were expecting. I always assumed the bands were going to be expensive. I want hands on reviews. If they're comparable in quality to high quality traditional watch bands then these prices aren't ridiculous.

As i wrote, I was expecting similar prices.

I'm waiting for the first reviews too.

Helps you get laid.

I can say with a high level of confidence that this is certainly not the case. Put a very unattractive man in front of me with a $20k Rolex and I will definitely walk away. How do I know? I've already done it once.

I have no problem saying I cannot afford a $10k watch. I can afford a $1k watch, but I won't as I'm rough on my watches normally. I'd be afraid to go outside tbh. I'll sink that $1k into something I am really into.
