How Apple Watch A2007 ,purchased from Switzerland, can use ECG app in Thailand ?

Don't turn another thread into this Brexit rubbish.

I bought my watch in Singapore and despite being a UK resident, with UK Apple ID and UK payment details/address, and being in the UK right now, I can't use the ECG feature!

I never imagined any manufacturer deliberately hampering a device with identical hardware because of where it was purchased before now...

Hmph!

There are some limitations apparently that it works... i wonder what is the reason for this? Just interested in technical aspects because im not a doctor or an engineer.

Does anyone know if I bought the Series 4 (Wi-Fi only) version in the USA whether the ECG feature would now work if brought back to the UK?

I understand they are different model numbers between countries and therefore unsure whether the feature is enabled through this or simply a geo-unlock.

Not sure why. I was having issues as my heart rate is normally 40-44 when sat down but in the end I found a walk round the room before sitting down to take the reading sorted it out. Given their other Low Heart Rate trigger is 40bpm I'd have thought they may have used the same limit but, I have a feeling accuracy may drop off below 50bpm.

yeah, mine is 43bpm now and if i want to use ecg, i should walk around before using it... sure it records the ecg which can be checked later...

anyway... not a real problem, if ever going to use that feature at all... but im more interested in knowing the tech. explanation behind this.

Let me try an explanation...
AFIB means that in your left atrium extra electrical impulses are generated that are independent from the normal pulses. The watch, or any other ecg recording, sees ALL the pulses together.
So if you have afib pulses and normal pulses below 50 bpm, your normal pulses - total minus afib pulses - would be well below 50 which is not good at all.
So a normal situation is that with afib you bpm goes UP considerably from your standard bpm and becomes very irregular spaced, what is seen by your watch !

I have been to 19 different countries and not found one better to live in than America.

My cat will also kick your cat's butt!

Well....to each one their own country is the best eh ...

And my cats reply is .... “Talk to the beans ...”

So ECG is also a customisable option for the Apple Watch face in Australia with iOS 12.2. Obviously it does nothing until watchOS is updated. So hopefully this means we’ll be getting it in Australia too soon

Don’t HOPE ...

I did that for a year and was finally fed up...

Call both Apple Aus and Your gov......
Ask them specifically ..DID APPLE FOR THE ECG function to be enabled and if so when !
[doublepost=1554432695][/doublepost]
Hahaha, so true. I should have included 99.9% +/- 1%.

Zulkiflim, you should check with the regulator again to see if there are any updates. (It's strange when a government is a more dependable source of information than our beloved Apple)

Will do ... will ask her again.

As for Apple I send them an email with my actions , 3 weeks ago...
And in that email, I said i will spread that email between my Gov FDA to the Sg forums for consumers to have a valid information prior to purchasing the Apple Watch.
[doublepost=1554432849][/doublepost]

So I hope everyone here is clear, Singapore IS NOT part of China ...

So many people get it wrong ...LOL..
[doublepost=1554433624][/doublepost]
That is utter nonsense. You make way too many assumptions and present it as THE way to go, thinking that would be action (just taking any action doesn't make it right). What you described in this thread is not how it works.

Wait ..assumptions..
Let’s see Apple in the video said ECG roll out is dependent on each country “FDA” approval,,,

And I ASSUMED that Apple HAD applied with my country, my very very very SMALL country “FDA” ...

So you are blaming me for ASKING my own gov “FDA” if Apple HAS raised a request?

Are you saying each every Apple CONSUMER should just lay back and wait , cause It is APPLE?

i Give up..we’ll if you don’t care about your purchases ...but I do like to know that what I buy IS able to utilize every function available..

Accroding to the previous article , they link it to serial number.

Even if you use a VPN it won’t work...

I was also worried about the link to serial number and was taking steps to check whether the USA Apple Watch is different hardware wise compared to other countries.

I thought that Apple would have sold different hardware version to different countries...

Hope it’s not true..

@zulkiflim could you update your Thread title please. It’s a little bit missleading now that ECG seems to be available everywhere but Singapore
Sorry for that, couldn’t resist, but it’s true though. Updating your thread title will make it easier to find.

Miau says my cat in approval.

Not available in Canada.

It seems that Hong Kong has a much quicker approval process (surprisingly) when it comes to medical devices. As long as the USA and Europe gave the green light we got the ECG function, the first in Asia. Really amazing. Probably some officials here are fans of the Apple Watch too. Really surprised and happy with my Series 4. I never thought I would get the ECG function in the Series 4's lifetime.

Still not available in Singapore after 5.2 the second round of country inclusions for ECG.

If Apple is working on it , no one will have any clue.
Since they do not inform anyone or give any dates.
Since Apple is inscrutable , I have only to ask my own Gov if Apple have applied.

And my Gov HAVE to reply to enquirers, and the response and the person replying is credible.

That’s why I have asked for permission to disseminate their reply of Apple inactivity in the social media.

If this is the impetus that will drive Apple to come out and reply then surely it is a good thing for all consumers .
Zulkif, I am in your shoes feeling cheated by apple initial advertisement in Sept 2018 that the iwatch4 came with ECG function. I live in Singapore and after 9 months, I still could not enjoy the ecg function as per their earlier advertisement. I wow, that I shall seriously reconsider any apple product in new future purchases. How can such big cooperation lies in their product launches!

Wow! These comments read like, ‘I didn’t even bother to pay attention, now I’m mad’.
I agree. To be fair it was quite explicit from the start that it would only be available in the US initially with no time frame of when it would come to other countries. I was actually surprised when it came to the UK. I was expecting it to take much longer.

When did Apple quote it would come to Singapore?
