That is for the 38mm. The 42mm is $12,000.00. Then if you purchase AppleCare+ it is an additional $1,500.00.
How to upgrade a watch this expensive?
I have got to wonder if Apple has some upgrade plan for being able to switch out the watch guts, letting the customer keep the same body. $18k is a heck of thing to upgrade if you want to keep up with technology that is bound to improve exponentially in the next few years!

I suspect the folks buying these have enough disposable income for it to not be a concern.
If not then it's probably not the best purchase to be making =)
The quality and workmanship is even higher than luxury watch. Handcrafts watches are worked on in terms of milli/micrometers. The Apple Watch has parts on the order of nanometers.
