And I think this watch looks great with the sport band honestly. People with the Edition also want to wear their watch when they're working out or doing something a little more casual. I think the subtlety of the sport band contrasts nicely with the gold.

If you ever get a space black link bracelet post some pictures op, i think it will look really good  apple should have made the rubber bands for the edition like http://rubberb.com with a gold deployment or like the new yacht-master II !

iphone6fan thanks so much for taking the time out to post so many great pics. It looks stunning!

That charging box makes it totally worth it...

I get it's an "exclusivity" thing, but I think Apple have over looked that the Apple Watch, might be the first in someone's new watch collection. This charger / box / stand would sell well as an accessory. They should make it. Maybe keep it white instead of blue.

The box that the stainless steel watches come in is white and just like the edition boxes. All they had to do was punch 2 holes in it so you could attach the charging cable!

When I first opened my box I thought(hoped) I would be able to charge it in the box. I didn't really know they made these for the Editions until looking here. I love it!

Husband's office, definitely.
Pics were for Craigslist - we're not keeping it. Hoping to make a few off of people with absurdly more disposable income than us.

Just an FYI, it is highly unlikely you will find anyone on your local Craigslist with an absurdly more disposable income to spend on an Edition than what you already have.

I may be wrong, but if I had $10k+ to spend on a watch, I don't even think I would know what Craigslist is.

The quality and workmanship is even higher than luxury watch. Handcrafts watches are worked on in terms of milli/micrometers. The Apple Watch has parts on the order of nanometers.

Those nanometer parts are electronic circuits manufactured by the Chinese, not fine watchmakers. The Edition's nanometer parts are no different from the Sport's nanometer parts.

I have got to wonder if Apple has some upgrade plan for being able to switch out the watch guts, letting the customer keep the same body. $18k is a heck of thing to upgrade if you want to keep up with technology that is bound to improve exponentially in the next few years!

I am sure that would've been a selling point for the watch. In which case we would've heard about it. It doesn't seem likely that they would offer it in the future, as mentioned the people buying these are mostly people who have more than disposable income to just buy a new watch $10k + watch.

I'm just curious, as this seems to be a duplicate of the News Story thread. Is it possible to duplicate the related new articles within the dedicated threads so this doesn't happen? Or is the intent to have two separate discussions for slightly different purposes?

Is the charging cable gold as well?

No, I don't think so. I believe it is the exact same silver (stainless?) finish as the stainless steel watch charger. I was disappointed when I learned this. You'd think for the money, and the relatively minor cost, that they would have trimmed the Edition puck in gold so there wasn't a two tone effect going on in the luxury box. If I were buying the Edition, I'd contact that guy gold plating the watches and have him plate this.

I'll be straight with you... I had not noticed the news thread and I suspect the other mods did not either. Normally, if a thread that is the same topic as a news thread pops up we close that thread and suggest members continue the discussion in the news thread so we don't have duplicate threads on the same topic.

I just got the notification in my email that it shipped! Checked my credit card and lo-and-behold the behemoth was listed as a pending charge.

Can't wait for this thing to get delivered!

Anyone else get shipping notifications on their 18K Edition watches?

Congratulations, and may I ask what do you do for a living? I honestly want to know what jobs out there would support this type of purchase in addition to doctors, lawyers, and investment bankers.

You may not know many people of high net worth. My grandparents are multi-multi millionaires and are very familiar with Craigslist. Gentleman down the road from me has a very high net worth as well, and does a lot of shopping on eBay, Craigslist, etc.

Gotcha, at the risk of continuing this thread off topic, I assume there's a technical reason the news stories can't be duplicated in the relevant forums? That would certainly solve the problem, and keep all the discussions about a particular subject in one place.

Here's the news link:

There is no way that I know of to post an alias to a thread like that. If you have other ideas on this, how about start up a thread in the Site and Forum feedback section. Don't want to derail the folks here. :)

That's all I'm talking about. Tiffany's will FedEx a 90k diamond ring, so I'm quite sure it's not uncommon to have expensive stuff sent via FedEx or UPS.

----------

Is FedEx alert and expecting thousands of these during a given month coming all from the same location because Rolex just launched a new watch?

That's the difference. People mail very expensive merchandise all the time. We all know this. It's just that Apple shipments DO get targeted by thieves because they know when to expect them.

Been shipping 100K-200K camera packages via Fed Ex since early 90s. The cases are easy to spot too. I've heard of problems but they are infrequent.

You just make sure the item is insured via something besides the FedEx value declaration. Not a big deal. People ship super expensive stuff all day every day.
