These watches are a classy as google Glass. I will buy it for the functionality, but this is hardly a nice-looking watch

Hailee Steinfeld was nominated for an Oscar at age 14, but even if she was "just" a model, she'd have more brains than you, sir.
I worked for a modeling agency at one point and I can assure you models are not "brainless".

Has she made a movie produced by Harvey Weinstein? If so, she's probably done some "casting couch" favors. That's the rumor anyway, that in order to get cast in a Weinstein produced film if you're young, white, and pretty that you must sleep with him. Maybe this girl had a threesome with Harvey and Olivia Wilde:

Your logic can be turned around and applied to Apple with Steve. All Apple did was just take an ordinary device and enhance it. An MP3 player. A phone. A laptop. A tablet.
Taking things and making them better is what Apple has been doing for the past 20 years.

Back on topic, it's totally appropriate to show a jewelry tech (we need a term for tech jewelry now) item in a fashion photoshoot. Do you really think they are only going to show it on its own in nerd magazines or something?

I don't think it's ugly at all. The physical design is simple so what's on the face can shine. Some people just can't appreciate understated and go for gaudy instead. Different strokes.

Good catch. Either it is a lazy Photoshop job (of the screen image or the whole device), or whoever set the model up with the white-band Watch neglected to switch the handedness setting on it. But possibly the picture will help to demonstrate to certain dead-enders that the device can actually be used on one's right wrist—and with the crown still pointed at the user's hand rather than her elbow. Various careless pundits have suggested otherwise.

Not sure I would have realized the cover model was that actress if commenters on this thread hadn't mentioned it, though. She looks quite a bit different here. (It might have had something to do with the movie being set in the 1870s, and Steinfeld being about five years older now. Mainly, though, I think it's that the makeup/photo touch-up work that's been done to her is pretty intense.)
