Forget what Fashion experts say, the :apple: Watch is fat, chubby and just an ugly square lump.

The only thing great about the design is the ability to customise the straps, but when you look at the actual device itself, it looks hideous. I think Motorola got it right with the 360.

OK - you find ONE form that fits into business, sports and leisure time, treats every given task equal and still is considered cool not to say timeless. Report back in say 1 year from now.

Motorola took a design - designed for gears, driving clock hands in a circular motion around the center of the watch. ( Simple put, thats why body of the watches where round. They broke with this tradition when the first Digital watches emerged and there is no need to bring it back.)

If this is the next big thing, and they want a large number of iPhone owners to buy the watch, then what those designers think won't be enough. Otherwise they will have a small number of fashionable high end buyers which won't drive the sales numbers they are looking for. Most iPhone owners don't read those magazines anyway.

For me, the most important opinion is the one of the members of this forum. The majority of them have incredible taste for fashion and technology, while also having a deep understanding for design, precision and quality.

what's the oldest iphone this will work on? will it work with an iphone 5?

yes it works on every iPhone >= iPhone 5

I wear a skull watch and have had compliments from people many times over the last several years ( this is my second one ). I never wear it under a shirt cuff. If the watch is nice or cool enough to look at, why hide it?

Although my current watch doesn't work anymore but if the Apple Watch allows me to customize that face, it would be sweet.

At first i tought that design was terrible but as more as im looking at it, in starting to like it

and you really think Apple is gonna sell the sapphire glass, stainless steel one for $349? pretty obvious to me that this is the starting price of the sports edition. Apple is charging 100€ for 32GB GB of Flash so i have no doubt in believing that sapphire & stainless material is gonna add at least another 100+ $

I never said that. I have no clue. Apple was very elusive with details. All they said was STARTING at 349.99 I have no idea which model they're referring to.

One thing I just mentioned too is that they always list the sport edition in the middle. Almost like the stainless is the entry level and the edition is the premier one. I could be thinking too much,we'll both just have to see.

... says a poster who has almost certainly held an Apple Watch and can therefore make an informed statement about the the level of fit and finish based on better information than 3d renders and pictures from the internet.

/s
I didn't even need to see a single picture of the apple watch to make that statement. The apple watch is a smartphone in the form factor of a watch fresh from a chinese factory.

There is simply no comparison to a real watchmaker constructing a watch made out of a million tiny little handmade bolts, nuts, screws, springs, rubies.

Bringing back a wrist watch makes about as much sense as bringing back the Palm Pilot. Maybe they can convince people they need to start carrying one of those around again as well.

I keep on seeing posts like this and wonder if it's viral marketing. (Please don't take this personally, I assume your post is genuine, but I've seen quite a few in the past few days like yours.)

Most people don't even have a watch, and they certainly don't see 300 dollars as a small purchase. I'm happy for people who have this sort of disposable income, but how out of touch do you have to be to fail to realize how small a portion of the world population would consider a 300 dollar watch affordable or a deal in any way? It's so unlikely that someone is this naive that it really makes me question if it's not part of a sophisticated marketing scheme to change the way people think of watches, and their value as symbols of conspicuous consumption.

Ah. Someone else who knows, or at least suspects what's going on. Tread lightly my friend lest you be banished!

Not a specific watch, more Casio meets Swatch.

I just don't like it.

I've owned both (in the 80's) and it looks like neither.

They both look cool but the 360 looks too big, if you ask me, which you didn't:cool:
The apple watch will work with iPhone so it gets my vote there,
but I think I'd have to see and wear both in person.

It's a pity they won't be available at Christmas.

Half the family uses iPhones, and naturally these would be great gifts.

Ah well, maybe a gift certificate for one, instead.

Maybe Apple just didn't want to commit to making them until they saw the reaction from the press :)

What do you bet that the design gets tweaked between now and sale time?

I'm glad macrumors posted this roundup, because I was beginning to think I was defective in taste, lol. I find the watch design absolutely gorgeous, both in details and form; I sense a "je ne sais quoi" to the watch that I cannot describe, yet it draws me in in an emotional way. Yet when I skimmed the comments in about a dozen non-Apple tech sites, "ugly" is the overwhelming consensus.

My main reservation is the GUI and icons, which I find to be horrid and jarring against the elegant ID of the watch. iOS's day-glo colors simply do not belong on that watch. I so miss Steve Jobs when it comes to matters of taste like this.

The design on this is terrible. Apple really should have strived to make this so good that people (like me) would consider giving up wearing our PP's for this. So disappointed, so irrationally angry.

No it isn't. Not even close.

In its current form its not even useful, that's a given. But if you're claiming that augmented reality won't be revolutionary, you're missing the boat. It will be a bigger game changer than cell phones/smart phones and the web itself. ...and the cool part is that it really is almost here. The display tech, the radios, the cameras, the SoC to drive it all are all just about good enough....right now we're really just waiting for battery/power efficiency to increase and figuring out the UI.

If anyone was so lucky to get a gift like that...wow. What I'm trying to say is. I'm sure whomever would appreciate a gift card for the watch.

Its a fun watch. It's meant to flip up to see the watch and then flip down be covered up by the skull face especially when working. It was handy when I worked at a coffee chain years ago to protect the watch glass.

But as an artist myself, I appreciate the clever design and creative aspect of it. It only cost me $50 when it first came out. They don't make these watches anymore, sad to say.
