Roseanne Morrison, fashion director for The Doneger Group, told Reuters that the Apple Watch was unimpressive. "It's not pretty. It's very future techno as opposed to feminine sexy."

So she's of the opinion that below isn't "feminine sexy"? Okay.

i want to complete fitness circles with healthtracker NOW!
I want to see months and months of filled circles for every day.

haha

My existing watch was $360 so this is right inline for my (admittedly low) budget for a good watch.

Not to mention aside from design alone this thing has KILLER functionary all backed by Apple. Day 1 purchase for me.

I keep on seeing posts like this and wonder if it's viral marketing. (Please don't take this personally, I assume your post is genuine, but I've seen quite a few in the past few days like yours.)

Most people don't even have a watch, and they certainly don't see 300 dollars as a small purchase. I'm happy for people who have this sort of disposable income, but how out of touch do you have to be to fail to realize how small a portion of the world population would consider a 300 dollar watch affordable or a deal in any way? It's so unlikely that someone is this naive that it really makes me question if it's not part of a sophisticated marketing scheme to change the way people think of watches, and their value as symbols of conspicuous consumption.

Two things that would stop me from buying a smart watch

1) No waterproof (I surf a lot)

2) The apps become too stressful for your current watch (iphone) to handle within 2 years and you would be buying a whole new watch.

I usually keep a watch for about 10+ years and the batteries almost make that distance too lol.

You're talking about a classic watch but this is a smartwatch.

It's water resistant. Go surfing = buy new watch.

Depends on what its resistance is ultimately rated at. With surfing you're not going to go deep underwater like you would on a dive so it wouldn't have to be rated as waterproof.

Comparing this to Swiss and Japanese watches is really stupid. This watch looks like an ipad nano. A good handmade watch complements a men and is a classic/timeless piece of accessory. And the level of fit and finish is a factor 100x higher than the apple watch.

I also think that the basic design is a home run! But the watch is too thick for my taste in its current iteration. In future iterations, the current design made thinner will be perfect.

Yep I totally agree. I think we have to see these in person. I get the feeling they are smaller than they look in the photos.

Also though two sizes help a bit there must be differences between the two sizes such as battery life.

and you really think Apple is gonna sell the sapphire glass, stainless steel one for $349? pretty obvious to me that this is the starting price of the sports edition. Apple is charging 100€ for 32GB GB of Flash so i have no doubt in believing that sapphire & stainless material is gonna add at least another 100+ $

What I want to know is does "Sports Addition" mean it's a sports look or is it actually different because it's intended purpose it to be used during sports? If not, will the other versions be durable enough to use for sporting purposes? (distance runner here)

... says a poster who has almost certainly held an Apple Watch and can therefore make an informed statement about the the level of fit and finish based on better information than 3d renders and pictures from the internet.

Apple Watch First Impressions From Watch Experts, Fashion Sites

Fail... Doesn't even fit under a shirt cuff. Explains why Cook had to come back out and roll up his sleeves.

I wear a skull watch and have had compliments from people many times over the last several years ( this is my second one ). I never wear it under a shirt cuff. If the watch is nice or cool enough to look at, why hide it?

Although my current watch doesn't work anymore but if the Apple Watch allows me to customize that face, it would be sweet.

How many Swiss and Japanese watches have as many sensors, communication abilities and connectivity as the Apple Watch?

From what I've read, it seems like there probably won't be much difference as far as durability is concerned between the three lines. The thing that seems to make the sports line "sporty" is that it's noticeably lighter.

How do you stick a HUD on a watch?

And Google Glass is a joke.

You don't, but you could have a watch like device to aid in UI (tracking hand gestures, etc.)

Google Glass is the prototype for the next major revolution in human-computer interaction. If smartphones were the biggest innovation since the world wide web, augmented reality will be an even bigger leap forward. And it is almost here. Glass is very limited, but just touching on what's to come. Life will be augmented...we will have a digital overlay of the "real" world within the decade (hopefully sooner rather than later). My hope was that Apple had a breakthrough when they were talking about a revolutionary "wearable." Instead, it's a moronic watch...just like the other dumb ones from Samsung et al.

I think the fit and finish of the :apple:Watch is one of its strong assets. The bulk and functionality are weaker, and those are the primary areas that people are complaining about. But the sheer attention to the smallest detail is astounding!

Most do from time to time :)

Oh.. thanks. I missed that details. So, the sports may be the cheapest of the 3 collections.

That would be my guess, but we'll see.
It's just the way that the watches are listed makes me think the sport is the middle model.

It's always listed like this- apple watch, apple watch sport and apple watch edition . For some reasons I'm thinking because it's listed in that order the stanless is the most inexpensive one.

Although if I had to pick on, I'd go with the stainless based on looks alone. The red and gold I'd buy for my fiancé.

I think I'll trust people who actually have seen the watch in person.

Here's a good article on yahoo finance. In addition, Apple did not use "far field" induction for charging. Far Field would allow there to be no contact between the watch and the charging unit.

PARTIAL QUOTE:

But the device has two obvious flaws that people aren't really saying much about.

The watch works only if you're carrying an iPhone at the same time. It isn't an independent gadget. It needs to be tethered to a nearby iPhone via Bluetooth if you want it to do its stuff.

The watch's battery doesn't last all day. It must be charged anew each night, Apple says. That means you can't sleep with it on your wrist, like, you know, a normal watch. (Even Apple is unhappy with it, we hear.)

The watch operates without the iPhone. It just wouldn't receive data like texts, emails, etc. My iPhone is always in my pocket or nearby so this shouldn't be a problem for me.

From what I've heard the battery lasts a day right now and Apple is working to improve that through software and hardware optimization in the following months. It is worth noting that it still beats the smart watch competition.
