Does anyone know yet if the watch can be used to keep track of workout stats without having the iPhone nearby? (Like at the gym)

Also did anyone else get a sense of Trypophobia as the circular icons were scrolling across? For those who don't know, it's basically a fear of circles. Google it and look at the images to see what I mean.

This watch had been a letdown for me. I'm sure it'll do great but I'm sure I'm not alone in the not impressed crowd.

I imagine with his nose. How do you smell?

Really? It was worth you commenting? I could have. I didn't. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I hope you're planning on fact checking everyone who posts equally - especially when they post something inaccurate...

Boring night huh? ;)

Yes, it was worth it because of past comments seemingly posted *despite* knowing the facts; arguments based on wrong facts to me is a lesser fault compared to willful distortion.

No apple is throwing in a bunch of crap too. The difference between Apple and the rest is that Apple has an idea. It could be a bad idea or a good idea.

Name me one reason why you must have a smart watch in order to live day to day? ... *stares at clock on the phone as it ticks

You need a phone. You need a computer. You need an internet connection. Most jobs only accept online applications now. You also need a car unless you have good public transportation. You need a place to live. The smart home is a fantastic idea with real world case uses that can become a need with climate change and reducing the carbon footprint.

The idea being with the apple smart watch is that it's used to monitor your health. Phones can't do it. Cars can't do it. Homes can't do it. It's a good idea the question is will it take off? Will other companies follow suit and design their smart watches around health like apple did. Do people care enough about their health to spend 400 dollars for it or a 1000 to look good doing it.

Yes there are other devices too but nothing that links to health kit, medical ID, or medical research. Apple has clearly designed this product with health in mind.

No argument on the need. No one needs it. I just think it's silly to say apple is any better for their implementation or purpose. In my opinion all smart watches are pretty on par. All depends on what one wants to use it for. But you're entitled to your opinion.

Yes, you are not alone... I'm sure that reassured your greatly in some way.
So, instead of this 1000th time reiterated view, you could have actually said precisely what you expected more.

You mean, the best selling Apple product also happens to be the one with subsidized costs? Oh my, what a coincidence

The Apple Watch will show us if Apple fanboys alone are enough to make a product successful. Because, without some kind of cost reduction like the iPhones have, no one will buy this thing and keep updating it year by year.

The iPad has been pretty successful without subsidies, which people said was a pointless "big iPod touch" that would fail. Just sayin'.

Now that you say that, I remember that too.

But he can easily get a replacement haha

Are you now forum cop? Serious note, are you just bored tonight? What are you adding to the conversation yourself besides snark?

seems to be an inordinate amount of angry people today.

Was watching NBC national news while preparing dinner.

The watch was 'featured' as if it came right out of apple's marketing department. Graphics with all the levels of pricing...

You don't see that with ANY OTHER COMPANY. How did apple pull that one off? NBC owned by Time Warner???

Same thing on CBS! And in the NEW YORK TIMES! Which is the only venue that hates Apple more than the posters on these forums!

Lol the irony. Weren't you the one the other day who felt the need to correct my saying Samsung was losing money, even though you admitted you knew what I meant?

How bored were you that day, officer?

Yes

Didn't Tim Cook say he showers with this thing? Could've sworn I read that on here a week or 2 ago.

Right.

Again the only difference between them all is that Apple has an idea. Right now all smart watches have absolutely no use case.

No argument on the need. No one needs it. I just think it's silly to say apple is any better for their implementation or purpose. In my opinion all smart watches are pretty on par. All depends on what one wants to use it for. But you're entitled to your opinion.

To be honest,I'm not impressed with the watch at all:

The pricing is insane.
It doesn't do anything that iPhone can't.
It needs an iPhone to work.
It's a watch that needs to be charged every night.
Oh and unlike any expensive watch,it will be completely outdated in 2 years time.

It's a very expensive accessory for iPhone, with very little life cycle.

on the positive note, the new Macbook is irresistible.

This makes no sense.

Of course it works without a phone. But it's not a standalone device. It reports information from the iPhone. If it had its own cell radio & GPS it would the be a miniature iPhone replacing an actual iPhone. It would then have 30 minute battery life.

An iPhone needs to be charged every night. Why is that a problem? Or more to the point, it's a problem the entire industry faces. If it lasts longer, it has a limited display and functionality.

I don't see the attraction in spending $14K each time a new Apple Watch is released.

I don't see the attraction in buying a $499 watch every couple of years, compared to say an iPhone you can't get it on a 2 year contract. I would hope the watch will last long enough to work with the iPhone 7 and maybe 8 in like 3 or 4 years.

But you can't say apple does and others don't in my opinion. I don't see one as more or less in that regard. Maybe apple has taken it further. But that's different than saying others don't have an idea.

Which model/combo do like the looks of on paper so far? I think I like the looks of the black SS model the best going by pictures.

I just love how all the Android Wear owners are complaining the Apple Watch is too complicated compared to their Android Wear watches. Android fans are always saying iPhones are for tech ignorant people because they're too dumb to handle an Android device. Now that Apple made a device with so many options and can customize, all of a sudden, it's too much. I'll throw it back and say if you don't need all the options available on the Apple Watch, then don't use it but it will be their if you decide to use it. Simple as that. A lot of angry people here as well. Is it the price point? I'll be picking a sport model for myself and my girl friend is getting the smaller sport model as well. Why? Because we can. If a 2nd gen is released next year, we will get that as well. Why? Because we can. Haters gonna hate. :p

A lot of the smart watches have things like jogging or running in mind. It's not the same thing as health.

But you can't say apple does and others don't in my opinion. I don't see one as more or less in that regard. Maybe apple has taken it further. But that's different than saying others don't have an idea.
