wow my gf will love your comment.
I keep saying "OMG it's Herems... no one can tell.... the watch face looks ugly anyways!" and she hated me teasing her hahahaha (albeit a fun way)
I am intrigued about your last comment about the leather though. It really makes a huge difference? @@"

The better 'fake' I have is from Etsy. Visually, the leather isn't as smooth as the Hermes. To the touch it's even more obvious. And that's just the exterior side. The inside - which touches you - is far softer on the Hermes. So yes, huge difference. Worth the $? To each their own. But there's a difference.

I have no issue with people for whom it's not worth the money. But I do take issue with those who say there's "no difference" or that the knock offs are "exactly the same" as that's completely preposterous.

According to this, the Hanjin shipping company bankruptcy has disrupted shipments of the Apple Watch and iPhone 7.

http://forums.appleinsider.com/discussion/195455

An "unnamed tech company" (probably Apple or Samsung) apparently has paid the port fees so the ships can dock.
So THAT's why I don't have my iPhone 7 Plus yet! I'll stop badmouthing Apple now. (unless, of course, the story isn't true...)

It did disrupt lots of shipments, not just for Apple. I think the ships are allowed to dock again, but there is still a backlog to work through.

In one of the scores of threads hand wringing over delayed shipments, I believe for 7+'s, some people have gotten shipping updates that seem to jive with this. I can't recall the exact wording but it was along the lines that there was a shipping snafu, but it's been resolved and the package was released.

The premium is actually $261 (the 38mm is $1149) and it does come with an extra year of warranty and an orange Sport band this year, but yes, it is odd that there is still that much of a difference given that Apple sells the bands separately now.

That said, some of the models are already sold out (double-buckle cuff and deployment), while the other models have 5-10 week waiting periods online.
Thanks for the correction. I also didn't know they came with a sport band and extra year of warranty as well. That makes it a little bit more reasonable to get an exclusive band color and watch face. That orange looks really nice. I bet people who buy the Hermes could make a decent little chunk by selling their official orange sport bands online, since they're rare. I think it's funny, though, that even the Hermes comes with a 1M cable now.

And now I look forward to the Apple Watch Series 3, when I can retire my Series 0 and display it on my desk alongside my launch day 2007 iPhone and launch day 2010 iPad.

The sport band is new this year. I guess since Apple is focusing so much on fitness and swimming with the watch it makes sense since water and untreated leather are not a good combination. ;)

The Edition comes with the charging dock (last year the case itself was the charger). Given that the Hermes is the most expensive model until and unless Apple releases new bands for the Edition, it would be nice if we got the charging dock.

I'm skipping the AW2, I'll probably pick up an Hermes AW3 if they stick around.

If you want to buy a knock-off leather strap for $25, all the power to you! Nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with spending $$$ on better leather either.
Def not but i'm just saying the option is out there. Personally I wouldn't spend over $100 on a band. The knock off Ebay ones have terrible quality from the reviews I've read and that is enough for me not to go down that road. I've seen a couple nice leather bands at Best Buy from NOMAD. I'm thinking I will def purchase this one in the future once I get tired of the black sport band

Although, if you follow through a couple links to a trading pub article, it says that Hanjin was given protection from US Creditors and that it was S. Korea that ponied up $10M to free the cargo:

"Hanjin began unloading ships at San Pedro Bay near Los Angeles last week, after a court in New Jersey gave the company protection from U.S. creditors, and a South Korean court OK’d the release of $10 million to process the cargo."

So I wonder who started the rumor that some unnamed tech company was responsible for paying the fees?

Weren't those for UPS shipments, though? i don't think UPS uses freight ships for these orders...they would use air transport.

It's fashion. If you grip about or have to justify the price, you aren't the target market. Get the cheap Apple Watch and a cheap faux leather band from Ebay and pretend that you're rich. For those who have the money and are fashion conscious, this is a drop in the bucket and highly desirable.

I'm not saying I'm rich or the target market. I don't care a whole lot about fashion. But some people do. Apple is working to upend the watch market and is aiming their sites on Rolex next. They need to be prominent in high fashion while also have affordable options as well. This allows them to command market share in the long run.

Hermes = Trash. Just like other overpriced brand names. But through marketing, somehow they persuade lots of customers to buy, buy, buy.

The simple sports band is quite elegant on the Apple Watch. That's where it starts and ends for me. None of this leather nonsense.
Hermes tends to have one of the best leather qualities in the industry. Whether that makes them worth that price is another question, but to say, that Hermes is trash, just shows me, that you have no clue, what you are talking about.

It is fine, that you think, that the sports band is enough for you, but I could never wear that to a suit, for example.

Not at all. Sports band is simple. It is elegant.
You made me laugh. Are you suggesting Hermes is a "keepsake"?

No, I'm not suggesting anything. I said AW's -- ALL -- are disposable devices rather than the keepsakes that fine jewelry grade watches are even if some AWs are priced on the low end of jewelry grade watches. The guts of the Hermes are no different than the Sport. It's every bit as disposable.

Also you make me laugh if you think a rubber is elegant. It's utilitarian. Always has been. Just because Apple makes something doesn't make it elegant. Maybe you think rayon pajamas are luxurious too? Or, maybe only if Apple made them?
