Apple Watch in Short Supply Due to Taptic Engine Bottlenecks

I'm sure this is somehow Angela Ahrendts' fault.

IMO, the blame goes right on the Chinese supplier. Quality and cost is always a trade off no matter how you spin a spreadsheet.

I've been around several electric motor builds from China. You ask for anything that has not done at least a million units that is electromechanical for the mainland, you are asking for trouble.

Japanese electromechanical assembly is some of the best in the world. The Japanese attention to detail in small parts shows why there is so many robotic systems coming out of there. Sure this will handle around end 2Q15.

This isn't Katie Cotton's Apple anymore.

So it was her decision alone to never admit faults? Yeah right.

Apple will just fix the problem and replace effected models , they are not going to feed the media trolls by admitting issues.

Name me any major software release without bugs. Microsoft releases windows with tons more bugs.

As for the antenna issue, you're assuming apple knew about it beforehand.

Also, those issues probably had less than .001% problem rate. However, when you sell tens of millions this stuff, it just seems like the problem is bigger.

Other companies have more problems, but you rarely hear about them because the sample size is LOT smaller.

That's irrelevant. My comment was quite appropriate to the post I replied to.

Then the blame is on Apple for using a subpar supplier.

Still no reason why there's a shortage of Leather Loops and Link Bracelets ...
This article is probably true, but it does not explain why some combinations of bands and watches are not shipping.

I also believe this is old news by now since all production dates are well past February if I recall correctly.

So, move on and Drink!

Yeah sure and they just learned that. The watch it's been on the works for at least over a year c'mon!!!

I'm sure they didn't think they were a subpar supplier when they chose them, but you are right they are responsible for vetting them. Obviously there is a reason they went with multiple suppliers in the first place (they didn't think that a single supplier would have been enough to meet expected demand). Hopefully they get this resolved quickly and the new supplier can ramp up production.

Is it also Apple's fault for choosing the cheapest options to maximise profits, they choose the Chinese suppliers?

Did the Chinese supplier change parts for cheaper ones after the contract was signed?

Maybe the part was just faulty from the start and never put through prolonged testing .

This happens with every product launch, there are always variations in parts, and one is superior to the other. In this case seen one part was vastly inferior.

I'd love an apple product produced with Japanese components, but that is not going to happen, as the profit margin would be lower.

It's a good thing they went with more than one supplier on this. How mature is the tech for tactic engines? Is this one something substantially different?

And that is what it boils down to . Nothing to worry for the people that have recieved thier watches

Exactly. Sure it is disappointing and an inconvenience, but I have no doubt Apple will make good on this. It's not a design problem.

Except Apple standard is higher. You completely missed my point. I never said Apple releases stuff completely without problems.

So their standard is higher yet they released maps, iOS 7, 8, iCloud and several others that weren't quite up to Apple standards? Yes, I do understand that.

It's been in the works, but it's not like every supplier had all the tooling and lines in place for the specific parts.

Those factories were in two different countries. Maybe that one was in charge of the modern buckle, loop and the link bands. It is possible. Although taking away the modern buckle availability to purchase from the website is still curious.

What are you talking about? The modern buckle bands are still available to choose on Apple's website.

I'm talking about hardware. Apple is known as a premium company for hardware, not necessarily for software(although it's still better than most).
