Pardon my ignorance if already discussed! I'm at work and didn't get a chance to see any of the keynote, or read much of this thread. Sorry! But is the 42mm SS with Milanese loop around $700 and the same model with the link bracelet around a grand?

You do realize that every single other manufacturer in this manufacturing segments charges that sort of price for that sort of steel bracelet right?

It costs manufacturers making these sorts of bracelets at this quality level around $400 to make the parts alone.

If you can figure out a cheaper way to build the exact same thing there are hundreds of companies that would trip over themselves to pay you millions of dollars.

Ooooo defensive...

I had in my head that I would be spending a maximum of $600 on one and wanted the stainless with the link band.

$1,000 is just too much to spend on a watch.

I feel that they have priced themselves out of the market for anyone that doesn't want a cheap or fluorescent band.

for those of you clarifying that the gold version is for the super wealthy, thank you for making that clear to everyone because we were all so confused why the same watch in aluminum without sapphire display was so much less expensive, but just as "cheap" (see what i did there?). i wonder if it comes with a private fitting from tim cook himself?

my opinion on the watch: lol. i think it's a social experiment to see how many people they can dupe into paying whatever price they want - reminds me of Jurassic Park ("we can charge whatever price we want and people will pay it") and we all know what happened there.

My heart hurts a little bit looking at the 42mm Link Bracelet priced at $449. I expected the Apple Watch and the Link Bracelet to come in around $750-800, which is higher than many of you predicted. But it's $1048. That's a bit much.

Alright , this is what I'm talking about. How do you change the color wheel to match the band?

At least $150 too expensive

Only devoted Apple Fans will consider anything other than the Sports version
the prices are at least $150 too expensive

I suspect a lot of people will now opt for the Pebble Time Steel instead of an Apple Watch

Whoever advised Tim on the pricing issue should be kicked, they should have started them at $199

I was considering one, but now given the prices I'll look at the Pebble range

The Apple watch may have some nice features, but I believe it's too expensive given the competition

All the prices are now up and running on the Apple site.

According to the UK the stainless steel with the link bracelet will cost £819...not sure I can drop that on a SS when the Sport starts at £299...essentially they are charging £520 for the strap....REALLY

In fact looking on the Apple site you're better off buying a Sport and the link bracelet separate which brings the price down to £678 which is slightly better although £500 would have been more reasonable in my opinion.

The Link may look better on the Sport because it has the Anodised finish and would likely look good with the brushed steel look of the bracelet.

Most designer watches cost at least this much if not more and only tell the time!

Oakley makes watches that are $800+.

It's not cheap but the Apple Watch is a steal considering it's functionality.

For fun they should have had a live feed of Tim's heartbeat for the whole preso. Especially right when he spoke about pricing

Why would anyone buy one of these if they have an iPhone ? lol

You know, when I first heard about the iWatch , i thought it was a joke to get samsung and the other idiots to make smart watches. Now, i can't even believe what moron would buy one of these things lol.

These watches will be the greatest fail in electronic history. I'd sell stock now.

Oh, btw, not a single one of those watches can compare to my Tag Heuer.

Do it, I'll buy all of your stock at a 10% discount because the sky is falling.

I have a Pebble and am getting a Pebble Time, prefer those actually to the Apple Watch. But the Apple Watches functionality blows the Pebble out of the water. $349 is the right price. You can get Swatches for $199...

Apple is on some of that walter white meth with those prices!!!

Most overpriced gadget to date.

massive fail

"How to take the piss out of stockholders in 1 hour or less."
The second part of the conference will appear in future management lessons with this title.

My forehead hurts from so much facepalming.

I think @$500 for the stainless steel version would have been acceptable. I wouldn't pay $349 for a tacky looking plastic version.

I just can't believe these prices. I have in the past spent more than $1000 on a watch, and I still have them, they work brilliantly, and are still valuable.

In a year or two, iOS in this watch probably won't even be update-able, and the battery will probably be shot.

I was excited about the release of this watch, but not any more. Not at that price. I'd rather spend $4k on an Omega Speedmaster.
