You're shocked? Really? C'mon.

Yep I'm shocked...it's not like Apple are a renowned watchmaker such as Tag Heuer that can charge that sort of money and will last a damn site longer than an Apple Watch that couldn't, in a million years, out last a decent watch.

I was excited about the release of this watch, but not any more. Not at that price. I'd rather spend $4k on an Omega Speedmaster.

I love my current seamaster, and have been eyeing up a speedmaster so much want.

Now in a digital era the mechanical watches will go down in value...ONLY collectionares will pay a high price

yeah right a beautifully crafted mechanical watch will never drop in price

The one thing i don't like about the Apple Watch is how much money is invested into the band. I dont care about the band, i care about the watch. It seems like the cost breakdown for the higher end watches is $300 for the watch and $700-$10,000 for a just a band. Its like selling a iPhone with a gold case for 10k, its useless. Apple prides itself on technology, nobody cares about a $10,000 gold case or band.

And to make matters worse, what happens when your $10,000 can no longer hold a charge? What happens when its not supported anymore?

If you want to see crazy prices, go check out the Australian store. $1599 for the SS 42mm with SS strap.

$24000 for the most expensive Edition.

Seems a lot of people have no idea how much a high-end designer watch costs.

yeah but those watches hold their value over many many years!! this watch is going to loose value and might not even work down the road. You can replace a regular $$$$ watch battery fairly easily and it works for another year or so. This will not be the case.

My Apple Watch will have to have alarm if I part from my iPhone , but my iPhone must sure as hell have alarm if someone chops of my hand with my 10,000 $ Apple Watch!

Wow. I'm a fan of Apple quality and their products but I think this gizmo simply screams, "Sorry, but we're simply out of ideas."

Sport with a third party band is the way i will go probably. I hope some real manufacturers make some nice bands.

I had in my head that I would be spending a maximum of $600 on one and wanted the stainless with the link band.
$1,000 is just too much to spend on a watch.

:apple:Watch is built at least to the same quality as a Movado et al, which go easily from $500 (simplest design, cheapest band) and up fast - and all those do is tell time. Apple is quite competitive with this pricing.

And of course, if you're shocked by the upper end prices you're not the intended demographic. Dig a little, and you'll find there are lots of "just time" watches out there that run in the vicinity of a half-million dollars.

The cheap bands on the +$10,000 watches is laughable. Granted, I would never buy one anyways. But, I can't imagine the look on people's faces who are use to buying Rolex watches when they see those cheap bands in person.

Have you been reading ANYTHING about the Apple Watch?

You'll STILL NEED YOUR PHONE!!!!!

and those gold versions look ugly. Put some nice bands on those $10,000 watches dammit.

I have custom built a dream Mac Pro for more than this... Never clicked order, though...

Many of us have done this, haha. The current Mac Pro tops out less than $10,000. If you include adding displays and other accessories then it's easy to go over $10,000.

You're right but they will outlast an Apple watch by a few centuries

Not to mention that "high-end designer watches," like, look nice and stuff.

Like MacFather I'm not impressed with the watch.
The selling point is that you don't need to pull your phone out of your pocket or purse. OMG! It's sooooo inconvenient to do that.

I still don't' and won't get it. Maybe gen 2 or 3 if there is a real need or some killer app.

I'm not impressed, but for different reasons (battery life, lack of GPS, ugly square face).

However on the notifications (not pulling the phone out of your pocket), I must say it's more convenient than you think. I just picked up a Garmin multi-sport watch over the weekend (fēnix 3), which includes smartphone notifications. Even in just the few days I've had it, I've gone from a skeptic to a believer. It's one of those things that is not necessary, but it makes life a little more pleasant; kind of like smartphones in general.

I'm interested to see the iOS 8.2 improvements targeted at smart watches, and more importantly, whether they extend to third-party watches. For example, when I read a notification on my new watch, it doesn't get marked as read on the phone. My impression is that this is an iOS limitation. Surely Apple will want Apple Watch owners to be able to mark messages as read from the watch; but will that feature apply only to their watch and not others?

Will be interesting.
