I used to track my health with the Polar loop + HR strap it was great, but the minute I saw the Apple Watch I sold it. Messages, music, phone, great looking watch, No more strap :D plus more wow! . The stand things is awesome, you can lost track of time when you are working on a computer I now stretch every hour if I haven't actually stand for something lol.
Last week finally I was able to complete perfect week o/ , it's gonna be tough to complete perfect month.
I really hope it gets better I want to be able to compete with friendssss :O

I have a lawsuit pending with Apple regarding this. I feel healthier, lost weight, and more willing to eat healthier. This is not what I expected from a watch that should tell me the time. I'm asking for a refund on the watch and $10 billion in mental health changes.
 
The Apple watch is probably the best fitness tracker, because it gives you live feedback and tries to get you to adjust your habits. Way better than the trackers that just measure data.

I've noticed that, for some reason, a lot of people seem to be comparing the Apple Watch to where fitness trackers were 4-5 years ago. But nowadays, most fitness trackers over $100 provide "live feedback" and "try to get you to adjust your habits".

I'm glad people are liking their Apple Watch. Someday I may get one... but, for now, I'm happy with my Garmin Vivosmart. It gets me to move, it tracks my sleep (since I only have to charge it every 8-9 days, I can actually wear it at night), it gives me notifications, it even wakes me up. And it's actually waterproof. The Apple Watch certainly does more stuff; but I've yet to see a compelling case made for that "more stuff".
 
As soon as this thing gets GPS on board, I am in. If I have to take my iPhone with me on a run in order to use GPS, what is the point of the watch? Might as well just carry the phone only.

Otherwise I'm on my second fitness tracker (Jawbone, now Withings, also a watch..) and I find them very helpful for daily activity and sleep recording.

My iPhone 6 has had a similar influence on me. I exercise way more now than I did before I had it. The Health app and API is a large part of it.
 
Most Apple Watch purchasers also live in affluent or upper town ZIP Codes with a lot more greenery and walking paths and trails than someone who can't afford a Apple Watch living in less affluent ZIP codes with far less land devoted to increasing public health.

I don't disagree that many AW users have become hooked into the Fitness app BUT that was also true of FuelBand users and still true of Fitbit users. Fuel band is what got me out of the office -- first with daily 4-5mile walks then eventually graduating to daily 5K runs.

It's absurd for Wristly to imply the AW is unique when al the AW did was hit a difference audience. And most likely just like the Fuel Band and Fitbit, when the novelty wears off 90% drop off. Ultimately, for people who have already made the move off the couch the AW isn't a great device. I went from the Fuel Band to a Fitbit Flex to a Garmin Forerunner. Only the Garmin gives me accurate enough information I can rely on. The AW is off by a good 5-10%.

What does that have to do with the survey findings? Nothing. The survey says people w/ an AW have "found fitness." It's limited to that.

Also I disagree with your conclusion. I live in one of the most affluent zip codes in the country based on per capita income. The sidewalks around here are mediocre at best with most sidewalk 30+ years old, narrow and uneven. The county spends less than 1% of its tax revenues on pedestrian infrastructure even though its proclaimed to be a "walkable" city.

And there isn't a whole lot of greenery here. The tree canopy gets thinner every year because of development. It's concrete city. Nothing pretty about it at all. I think you are reading fairly tale books.

And where my parents live -- different state -- also upper middle class, many of the sidewalks go to nowhere. They just end.

Wow, assume much? I find many people in less affluent areas tend to buy expensive things.
 
I'm sure the same could be said for that new treadmill or exercise bike that someone received for Christmas one year which now sits in the basement collecting dust and cobwebs. :)

well to be fair... youre only meant to keep the apple watch for like two years until Apple makes a new one that makes you all excited for it again and upgrade, and re-use it.

Thanks for this. It further reminds me why I need to start looking for other forums worth sharing information that don't say ridiculously ignornant things.

I'm not assuming anything. Multiple studies have confirmed nationwide as a whole that more affluent zip codes are dramatically healthier compared to just a few miles down the road. More disposable income for healthier food consumption, more parks and walking trails, more time for these activities.

Notice how I said most Apple Watch buyers. Any fool can get a credit card and purchase the device, but unlike a popular mainstream device like the iPhone I suspect far less people are going to finance for a device such as the Apple Watch.

I can attest to this. I've been working out everyday for the past 3 weeks, and I've been eating better. Results are good so far, lost 10 pounds.
Just realize that the majority of weight you "lost" was more than likely water weight. No way can anyone lost 4LBS of body fat per week, espeically if you workout everyday. It actually takes rest to lose body fat. Working out everyday won't burn fat at that speed.
 
What do they say, it takes 21 times to form a habit? If people who have used this thing for 2 - 3 months say they still feel an urge to "fill the circles" (including me) then that surely is a good habit. I can't see myself stop using the watch anytime soon since it does many other things for me as well. If I had a Fitbit or something similar it would be easier to forget it in a drawer since it only does this one thing.

One afternoon I was visiting with an elderly friend and telling her about the various features of the watch, and we'd been sitting for a while chatting; my watch tapped me, I laughed and said to her, "time to stand up!" and so we both did! LOL!

Hehe, something similar happened to me when I was in a meeting. I stood up during a presentation and when everyone looked at me I said "my watch told me to stand up" and then someone said "you know, it's actually a good thing to stand up once every hour" and then everyone stood up! :D
