Did you not read what I said? It will run apps but you still need the primary app (which is loaded on the phone) to communicate with the app loaded on the watch. Please read the very first sentence from the link below.

"Apple Watch must be paired with the user’s iPhone for your app to run."

Even if you go to the Apple Watch home page it says at the very bottom in fine print. "Features are subject to change and may not be available in all regions or all languages. Requires iPhone 5 or later."

Maybe instead of using "peachy" I will use the term fishy. As in it smells fishy that I see no iPhone on this chick. So maybe I should have said that it's a high resolution casio dumbwatch without the iPhone. Correction noted.

Dude, give it up already. Enjoy your limited edition gear device. Limited because nobody is buying them. Your ignorance and dislike of Apple isn't adding anything here.

I think people would be less irked by the Apple Watch not being able to operate on its own if it cost $249, priced like the accessory it really is.

i assume you mean iPhone there.

Yet, it can operate on its own. So, not sure what your point is or who are those mysterious irked "people". It doesn't offer all its services on its own, but it certainly does operate all by itself. Unless you think for example that working as a bluetooth Ipod is worth nothing at all?

Pretty sure people that will actually buy it will be well versed in its intricacy even though you might think they're all idiots.

For those irked people. They can buy those super watches that work all by themselves and use it as such. If they work all by themselves, not working with IOS shouldn't be an issue...

False advertising! Where's the iPhone hiding at?

I'm carrying it for her. I guess that means I need to stay within 10 meters of her, doesn't it?

Geeze, give that poor girl some food! ;)

OK, I will volunteer for that.

How about some seafood at Seattle's Crab Pot, some nice conversation, and then she and I can walk around the waterfront and have dessert atop the Space Needle.

That's what I do. Solve world hunger, two people at a time.

Do you realize that Apple's Apps do NOT require an iPhone to work? Only THIRD PARTY apps (at launch) will require an iPhone to work. Eventually, Apple will stop that restriction. But for now, THIRD PARTY apps DO require the iPhone, but apps originally installed on the phone do NOT.

So, there is nothing 'fishy' about not having an iPhone on one's body when wearing an Apple Watch. It's totally fine.

Exactly what I was going to say! Back pocket? ;)

HAHA! I upvoted your post, that quick death part gave me a pretty good chuckle!

You're not suppose to place your phone in the back pocket or else it bends. Didn't you learn anything after the iphone 6 was released? And judging from her size a iPhone 6 plus would cover half her butt.

Only through the iPhone.

So i need to take my iPhone when i'm running? I have now an armband to put the iPhone in to carry it around my arm. I thought i only would need now is the watch with a running app ?? More weight.....

You don't really need a GPS for running. You running in a strange place? You got lost? Nah. But without the phone, the watch will track your heart rate, the distance you ran, the calories burned, and so on. It will even play music loaded on your watch while you run, without the phone (through bluetooth headphones). Not bad.

I'm getting one for sure!

You don't need to take your iPhone with you running.

But, I bet manufacturers will create secure hip-pockets to hold iPhones for those who do want to. Putting an iPhone on your hip is not as noticeable as on your wrist. Previously, this was not an option, because you needed to pull your iPhone out to look at it while running, but now you don't.

So other than using it as a $350 to $2000 plus MP3 player and time piece what else can you do with the watch when it's not connected to the phone? Apple has already nixed the heart rate monitor so you can't do that while running.
Eventually you're going to have to connect the watch to keep the apps up to date unless you like old info.
And by me being so important I need to know if my wife or kids call or text me. Maybe I will leave a message on my voicemail explaining that I'm out and about with my Apple Watch without my phone. That should work.

Kind of an interesting picture... I doubt the watch is water proof, yet she's in her surfing gear... It may be water resistant, but thats not good for surfing.
