I agree with the 1st and 3rd sentences here. But that middle one...I guess the USA just has more idiot 16-20 year olds. I'd be in favor of raising the alcohol age to 25, rather than dropping it.

You Americans have too much time on your hands. It seems for your favored past time is to tell other people what to do. I'd be in favor for America to be a free union, like EU today, with those individual freedoms you long forgot. And them guns and the killing police. I'd rather sit in Paris, have a beer and smoke. You can have ll the apple you want in Paris, but you sure cannot have Paris at apple. :)

Don't tell us what to do.

So we've established that, aside from the nice band, people looking at your wrist will just see a blank screen. This compares to the other watches people buy which actually have faces.

There's a disconnect with how these things are marketed (with activated faces) and reality (black screen).

Given their marketing tone, I would rather had seen them create a series of watches with real faces—sticking all the connectivity and sensors inside. No screen. The requirement to still have the iPhone with the device makes more sense that way too. It would have been a huge statement against Samsung and Moto digital screen watches.

Cook says he didn't want to just put a smaller ipod on the wrist, but aside from the bands, that's in fact what they've done, shape and all.

Ever wonder why Jobs got cancer? He used to drink wine.

LOL. I hope that was sarcasm... Ever heard of the french paradox and why they have such a low amount of heart diseases compared to Americans , even though they indulge in cheese, butter and other fats ? Yep, it's the wine.

You say words but don't listen to them. People here have used all these "freedoms" you mention to be selfish and destroy others. Nobody sits around just enjoying trashing their own bodies, they get wasted and then beat their family members, kill people driving drunk, etc.

So it seems that the Apple Watch is Fashion first and Technology second.

So it seems I will be getting an Android Wear first and an Apple Watch never.

Its probably that if you don't mind you battery life being shorter, you could let your face be activated all the time. That would be you choice though. An activated face with a static dark image is not going to destroy your battery life, but it would be significantly lower for sure (probably several hours a day).

Huh? it has the best screen, latest custom SOC, whole new version of IOS, two news input methods not seen in other watches, etc. It has also has a massively better build quality (not even the same universe as the others).

Apple having the most efficient ARM CPU's around, it is probably that this will have the most functionality for the battery life of any watches out there.

So, it seems it is the EXACT opposite of what you claim.

So, how is that and being fashionable mutually exclusive?

The woman in the back is cleaning her Google Glass v2 and everyone's focused on the super-cool dude in the foreground.

At least the hopeful thing is that the moto 360 apparently is getting almost 2 days of battery life after the recent software update. Hopefully the apple watch can outdo that(although they aren't strong when it comes to battery life)

Thanks for identifying the the location! I went right by the Saint-Germain-des-Prés stop on Metro line 4 on the way to where I was staying when I visited Paris in August. I'll have to go there next time around. Of note the Postal Code for Les Deux Magots is 75006, putting in the 6e arrondissement.

aha you are correct. I tend to think of all of St Germain as the 5th.

By the way the Colette website now confirms it as an Apple Watch event.

Considering how ridiculously big, out of date and inefficient the 360 internals are and it well having less functionality, how is having 2 days helping. If the new Apple watch does nothing at all, I'm sure it can reach 5 days...

The 6 and 6+ has the best battery of every comparable devices (most have a bigger volume and battery), so how does you battery assertion even make sense?

I doubt they'll make a $5000 watch. They'd want to move a substantial amount and $5000, while it will sell, will limit its market A LOT.

The Mid range one will be about $550 (that's my estimate), the top range one should be $1000-$1500 (not saying that this will be the price), so people with money but not awash in it, would actually feel like upgrading would be worth it (they can give their watch to family or resell it, I'm sure the resale market will be very good for something so well built).

According to John Gruber, the mid-range is likely to be closer to $1000, with the Edition at $5,000. He's pretty knowledgeable. They have the Sport for volume. And lots of other stainless steel watches sell in the $1,000 range.

18kt gold watches aren't cheap. The gold alone is likely several hundred to $1000. There are only 6 Edition designs at the outset, vs 10 for the Sport and 18 for the standard. My guess is that they want to upsell to the standard.

In my case, I like the rose gold, but don't particularly care for the sport band (it looks odd in white), and am worried the rose gray leather is a bit too feminine. It would be nice if they offered a darker modern buckle with rose gold trim. In any case, three of the Edition designs seem targeted to women (the yellow gold with red leather, rose gold with rose gray leather, and smaller rose gold with sport band), while the others seem targeted to men. I think if they were expecting higher volumes they'd have more band options.

good point with the exception of real world use isnt backing up that claim.

OK, maybe where you live, not where I live and the women around me who are all upper middle class and not into tech at all. Fancy shoes, yes. "Cute" purses, whatever that means, yes, so I've been told, but tech items -- eyes glaze over and not a nookie inducing gift at all. For them diamonds -- and diamond watches -- are still a girl's best friend.

And it's not about women being big iWatch users, I'm sure they will be. It's about what kind of gifts they expect from their boyfriends and husbands on the most romantic day of the year according to Hallmark and the Rose Growers Assoc. A digital watch, even with an Apple logo and high price, doesn't cut it.

I would not listen to Hallmark, the Rose Growers Assoc., or ,especially, not De Beers as to what women consider properly romantic gifts.

Because Apple, by and large, is considered a luxury brand. You can just as well wear a Casio and call people on a StarTAC phone. However, a watch IS a piece of jewelry generally. You're welcome to market your own offering at a lower price with the same functionality though!

What kind of Casio ? There are Casio watches more expensive than the Apple watch.

How is the S1 computer on a chip fashion first? Also since when do people not consider the fashion element when buying a watch? Well people that aren't tech nerds that is.

You know, they haven't talked about this, and on the surface it seems pretty thoroughly unlike Apple to do, but, that watch body is big. ...and roomy. What's to say when the next generation requires a hardware bump, you can't take it in and get the hardware upgraded?

If I paid $1000+ for a gold smartwatch, and a year later they came out with better hardware, or software that required better hardware, which rendered mine obsolete, what are the odds I'd want to buy another one? ...but if I could upgrade its guts for a few generations to keep up with the softies, now that might make it a little more worth doing.

Unless there are that many people that will just buy a new $1000+ disposable watch to go along with their $1000 disposable phone every year...

They'd sell a lot of extra hardware and billable service hours upgrading ones they've already sold that'd otherwise go to secondhand buyers and not make them any more $.

I keep my Omega for sure. I don't smoke and I din't need icancer app based on the photo.
