But you should be.

Why? It is normal for everybody to have the same phones, and it's rare that I pay a attention to someone's case.

It would be really freaky if you saw the same watch everywhere.

----------

You will certainly not meet millions of other people wearing a Watch Edition ...

If they payed $1000, OK. If they payed $5000 for a disposable mass-produced gadget no different technically from the $349 version, no comment.

But I can imagine too many people buying it at $1000 as an uncreative show off.

Where's the new Apple TV?

I like the idea of the watch, mostly for the health tracking functionality, but let's see what else. As long as I don't have to charge it every day.

Apple TV really needs help.

I am waiting to see if I should move to the new Sony PlayStation Vita TV. If it supports something like AirPlay/Chromecast, I am done with ATV.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/9/4710080/sony-ps-vita-tv

"Sony has just announced PlayStation Vita TV, a 6cm x 10cm console and set-top box that connects to a TV. It's based on PS Vita hardware, and besides playing Vita, PSP, and PSone games, also offers access to a range of entertainment services and PlayStation 4 cross-functionality. It will cost 9,480 yen, or around $95 excluding sales tax, and is out in Japan on November 14th. A separate bundle, including a DualShock 3 controller and 8GB memory card, will sell for ¥14,280 (around $143).

Is that definitely the Apple Watch on his wrist because it looks a lot thinner than the PR photos...perhaps it's just the angle.

It looks thinner because the strap connection is at the middle of the watch which is smart. Moto360 has the strap connected at the bottom of the watch which makes it look so thick when wearing.

EDIT: Oops....I guess I did make that happen. Not sure why MR had to post the photo on their front page with the name of the designer and his Instagram account. I never linked back to his account.
Mantra of the press: The People Have A Right To Know!! (no matter how many we injure in the process)

How is it that big of a deal to need to charge it overnight? I would presume you do it with your phone. Do you go to bed dressed? With an inductive magnetic charger its as easy taking taking it off and dropping it on your side table when you go to sleep. A full day charge is more than a fair amount of time considering how small it is with what it does. Unless you think batteries run on fairy dust and wishes or Apple can violate the laws of physics at will. Complain if you want about how it looks, its functionality once properly demoed, and/or its price. But needing to charge it daily, come on now.

As far as Apple tv goes, I'm with you on that. I'm surprised they still make it honestly. Personally with DRM still firmly embedded into video I'm still not convinced that buying digital only movies and TV is a smart move. I still go Bluray for everything since I know I still own it if it ever goes out of print or what not. Music is different since they long yanked the DRM there so as long as I keep a copy I always have it. Even so, there's a multitude of set top boxes and consoles that can do as much if not more than an Apple TV. Up until iOS 8 i was able to to airplay video streaming to my XBMC box. iOS8 changed something and they entrypted the protocol so that functionality is gone. But that just means I need to take the extra step and put the video file into it HDD manually. No biggie but its unlikely you'll get any 3rd party AirPlay support now. So unless Apple does something truly revolutionary with it, they should probably just give that up.

Actually, alcohol in moderation is rather beneficial for your cardiovascular system. It goes with the health-oriented iWatch. :D

Cigarettes are not. At least tobacco ones are not, pot is shown to reduce your chances of getting dementia. :D

To be fair, I think pot is actually shown to reduce chances of someone else noticing you've changed into dementia.

I don't even want to think about charging it every day. The minimum acceptable for a watch is a 1 year charge.

And I don't want to wear the same thing every day, so it seems pointless.

And I'm not going to buy an iPhone.

I can't wait for pre-orders to start. At least by then we'd know the prices. I'm trying to decide whether the Edition is within the realm of possibility.

I believe Colette was at the unveiling of the Apple Watch on September 9th. The creative director has two pictures on Instgram where she is sporting the 38mm and 42mm Watch models (not the Edition).

I actually saw the back of one of the 18K watches and from the looks of it, the case is made from 18K gold (Alloy, of course). Since the case is not some thin stamped metal, it's actually costly to make due to the amount of milling inside and material taken out in the process. It would actually not surprise me if the limited edition (with 18K watch bands) actually might his the $5000 mark. I'm not saying that is the price, but it would not surprise me. People with money would gladly pay that amount and not wince about it. The stainless steel version is probably going to be in the $500 range because stainless steel is more expensive than aluminum and it's more costly to fabricate and polish due to the hardness of the metal. It will be interesting to see the pricing of the watch bands as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if they sold the AppleWatches in places like Nordstrom, Macy's, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus as well as maybe some jewelry stores that typically sell Rado, Movado, Rolex and other decent watches.

It wouldn't surprise me that the lifespan on the AppleWatch is a lot longer than we think due to the materials used. It's not a cheaply made Casio calculator watch which didn't last long because they were cheaply made.

Obviously, Apple is working on newer sensor technology, but that won't make this watch obsolete, it will just make a newer product have more functionality for those that need it. Who knows, maybe they'll have those stick on the wrist sensors work in conjunction with this watch to add more functionality. I can easily see Apple coming out with different watch designs over time as well.

So does alcohol but you don't see anyone having a go at him drinking because that would make them a hypocrite since practically everyone drinks..

Actually, about 40 to 50% of society doesn't drink. Some cultures don't allow it. How do I know? I've seen the statistics. Kids under 21 represent a fairly large amount of the population and most of them don't drink. Then there are LOTs of adults that don't drink either, especially those that grow out of the alcohol addiction. Drinking causes lots of health, psychological, and other problems which causes people to get arrested for doing stupid things. Remember, it's a highly addictive substance that's a psycho-active drug and it alters people's motor skills and perception. Look it up.

Nothing worse than being sober in a room with bunch of drunks, they can be obnoxious and disgusting to hang around, not to mention the smell of it.

Ever been in a dive bar the morning after a busy Friday night? It's awful. It makes you want to puke.

Ever wonder why Jobs got cancer? He used to drink wine.

Not a good look for you Apple

Tim Cook will not like this pic. He looks like a drinking and smoking slob that needs to shave and treat his acne. The watch can only do so much but can't fix his style. Not the polished Apple shots we are used to seeing.

Ok. Then don't buy the goddamn thing. 1 YEAR for a watch with a touchscreen, chip and Bluetooth+NFC. You must be out of your mind. As far as needing a phone to use some of its functions, how else would you have that work? Its OBVIOUS that it will at least tell time without a phone and be capable of rudimentary functions that don't require a data connection. They mentioned some limited internal storage capacity. Tell me, how would they cram a phone into a watch, have it do all of that in such a limited amount of space, AND have a 1 YEAR batter life on a single charge. Have you ANY idea how INSANE that expectation is? Why are you even on this forum?

Don't get me wrong, I'm still on the wait and see stage and probably wont go for a 1st gen version. But if you expect what I think you do, you are out of your mind.

$5k is within the realm of possibility for me. I would not go higher. It's not a done deal by any stretch (depends on my bonus this year, plus whether or not I think the Edition will still be useful in a few years).

Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, etc. would also be good places to sell the regular Watch, particularly if there are versions that are around $1,000. Lots of Rado, Movado, and Tissot watches are in the $800-$1200 range.

It can be a proper fitness watch with sensors but no screen (but not ruining something too fancy with electronics).

And those watches should have a standardised sensor interface, so that you can change every day.

You've obviously never had a health tracker....

These things track your sleep patterns, so you have to wear it to bed, when you are asleep.

Get it?

My Basis can last about 4 days, tracking an extensive range of health data, including overall heart-rate, sleep patterns, etc.. Apple should get close, or it will be in the dustbin together with the first gen Samsung wearables (but the new ones apparently have longer battery life).

I don't like any of the TV boxes that connect to the internet because my ISP is flaky and it's not that fast. I'll just keep on using Cable TV, I have faster channel switching.

I think internet based TV is a joke. I watch movies and TV shows on Crackle and Amazon Prime and the content stops intermittently due to a crappy ISP connection. We all can't get 20MB internet connection to have 1080p.........

For movies, I still prefer something like BluRay since it has much better audio quality.

I think if they could make an AppleTV also have a connection to cable AND a DVR built in and much faster ability to switch between channels, it might be something I would be interested in, but right now, my ISP sucks.

What you just described is not a watch. Its a glorified heart rate monitor. If you want a big selection to fit your daily wardrobe choices then have at em: http://www.amazon.com/Heart-Monitors-Exercise-Fitness/b?ie=UTF8&node=3407971

I have a Garmin. It's not a watch, it is a hrm, the battery only lasts some hours.

If you can power sensors for a long time (maybe by adding both solar and kinetic) in a traditional design, you've got a proper watch.

I said fitness, but I meant noncritical health, so you can sync it once in a while, without wireless running the whole time.
