Sad

Ordered my 42mm SS with Milanese at 3:07am. Husband ordered two Black Sports 42mm at 3:03am. We both got the dreaded email this morning. A friend ordered a white sport and got her shipping notifcation this morning at 5:47am. We all ordered by 3:07am (mine was the last ordered) and we all got the expected date of 4/24 - 5/8. I've been continuously looking for others that have ordered the 42mm SS with Milanese to see what time/where they are/etc to gauge but I have not had any luck. Being an apple supporter and an app developer for over 15 years (5 as an app developer), this has been the worst experience. I've camped out, preordered online, etc. This has just been unpleasant. Anyone receive news on a 42mm SS with Milanese? I read somewhere that if we got that mass email, it'll be delivered most likely on the 8th of May.

I'm actually really curious about the email message from Apple. I wonder who exactly got the email and why as opposed to who didn't. People who are in the 5/8 timeframe and will get them shipped next week; or if you didn't get the email basically you're not even on their radar yet...OR you didn't an email because they're planning on sending your shipment soon enough it doesn't require a notice. I don't know...seems very inconsistent who got that email and who didn't.

Here is some help for you.

1. If your order status states "Preparing for Shipment" you can do this.

2. Go to the UPS tracking page. http://www.ups.com/tracking/tracking.html

3. Select the option to "Track by Reference"

4. Shipment Reference is your phone number.

5. Fill out Zip Code and Country and find out.

Mine state the Preparing for Shipment and I did this to find out that it will be delivered around 3pm in Seattle.

Thanks. This is the most useful post yet - FAR more useful than the incomplete, inaccurate and confusing "information" in the original article.

I just checked using the link above and it says this: "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated." It says the label was created today. Unless they're planning to overnight it to me (I doubt it, since they've allowed themselves a leisurely 2 week window) I won't be getting it tomorrow.

Like I said before, I just wish Apple had given me a firm date, not a two week window. I got my order in 1 minute after pre-orders started, so I would have thought I'd get it on launch day... but if not, FINE. Just tell me when I'll get the damn thing so I can stop checking.

Charges today

Has anyones card been charged today? I haven't seen anyone saying that it has been charged today. Does that mean that the initial wave of shipments has been charged already?

If a label has been prepared, then you should get yours tomorrow. They are shipping all watches Next Day Air Saver. Which is not first thing in the morning, but by end of day.

"Preparing to ship" means it has already left the warehouse and is in a UPS holding facility. You will likely receive it on Friday.

You keep saying this over and over, but it's not true. Mine has said "preparing to ship" since Monday, and according to UPS, a label was just created TODAY, and they DO NOT have the package at their facility yet. Here is what UPS says:

"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Well that's great news! I didn't know they were doing next day air. Thanks!

Next day Air saver
Residential Destinations:
Next business day delivery by end of day

That doesn't mean they won't show up earlier in the day, just that they'll be there tomorrow sometime.

Only certain models being sent out tomorrow

Based off what I have been reading on this site it appears that only specific models are even being sent out tomorrow. I personally ordered a 42mm and a 38mm space gray sport with confirmation on both at 3:01am EST (aka the minute the preorders were available). Luckily for my bf he will be receiving his 42mm tomorrow but my 38mm is still in processing. From what I have read it appears that NO 38mm SPACE GRAY SPORT watches will be delivered tomorrow or anytime soon since we are all still processing. It is very disappointing that apple is not shipping all models for launch and instead just a select few. If they had been transparent and given a shipping date of 5/1-5/8 I would have been less disappointed because the expectation was set that launch day was not a possibility. Instead they made it appear that every model would be available to be delivered on launch day and apparently made more of certain models then needed hence people with June shipping dates getting theirs tomorrow.

Ordered my dad's 42-SS-Mil with an :04 confirmation, and got the shipment notification late yesterday.

Ordered my 42-SG-BS with an :05 confirmation and I'm in the second batch.

Apple got a temporary authorization from my credit card on Monday. It still hasn't posted as a charge, but I just found out from UPS that Apple created a shipping label today, but UPS hasn't received the package yet.

When you check your tracking info on the ups site, look to the right. I'll bet you see "ups next day air saver" as the service, right?

I think you'll find that the only reason you're worked up is because you are relying on comparing your situation to others who might be served by different geographic areas with different logistics requirements.

However I expect you'll get your shipping notice later today and your watch tomorrow.

I agree. It's very inconsistent. I'm not angry or anything. It's life, but I'm highly disappointed with Apple on this. I would love it if the email meant "you'll be getting yours soon enough so you don't require a notice". I haven't found anyone that is getting the same watch that I ordered. I initially took the email as a "Sorry, not sorry for making you stay up to preorder a watch". However, on Apple's end, they did give us a time frame window, but they should have known this was going to be a hit. It's possibly, if not the most, innovative product they have released.

Also, as for the UPS thing, all it does for me is give me the constant reminder that I do not have a watch on the way. I type in my phone number with no spaces, etc. Then I try it with the proper punctuation, nothing. It's only for people that have "prepared for shipment", not those of us in processing.

You are literally the first person I have seen that!! What time zone are you in? Sunny FL here.

This is a little interesting...

I received my shipping notification a little after 1 p.m. EST today. I had used my cellphone number as a reference tracking number for UPS and saw my watch — SS White Band 38mm — was arriving on the 24th.

I ordered two watches — one for wife, the 38mm SS white, and one for me, the 38mm SS black. I ordered about 10 minutes after launch time.

The White Band said it would deliver 4/24-5/8; the black band said 4-6 weeks. I was anticipating the white band to ship on launch day, and then wait a couple weeks for the black band.

Here's what's interesting: My credit card was charged for the black band early Thursday morning. The order still says processing. I continued thinking it would ship later, but now I'm not so sure.

My co-worker also ordered a watch and received his shipping notification. What I noticed between our two watches is the weight. His says a package that's 1 pound... mine says a package thats 3.2 pounds. He ordered a 42mm space gray sport watch, but I don't think it weighs that much less than stainless, does it?

What are the odds both of my stainless steel watches arrive tomorrow?

Not necessarily... My order was "prepared for shipment" since Tuesday afternoon, and NO combination whatsoever to obtain tracking by reference worked for me. It was only after I got the "official" shipping email from Apple that I was able to track by reference (I figured I try it just in case I was doing it wrong the past few days...)

kmorgan, I got my 42 mm SS Milanese order confirmation email at 12:02 am PDT April 10. Apple charged my debit card on Tuesday this week and switched my status to Preparing to Ship that day. UPS MY Choice showed my tracking number on Tuesday afternoon as well.

This morning at 2:19 am PDT I received my Shipment Notification from Apple. UPS shows the 42 Milanese will be delivered tomorrow. I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas and my shipment is coming from Mt. Juliet, TN. I hope this information helps...

Yet my order is still processing. Thanks a bunch, Apple.
38mm Space Gray Sport, email confirmation received at 12:02.

No worries, I got my confirmation email at 12:01 and I haven't received a shipping notice yet. Apple does this with pretty much every product release.

"We've had a great reponse"

My order was confirmed at 12:06am PST, 42mm Space Grey w/ Black Band.
Processing Items Available to ship: 4-6 weeks
Delivers: May 13 - May 27 by Standard Shipping

I've called Apple once, and web-chat with them once to find out why, they keep saying "We've had a great response to the Apple Watch, and we're really excited," or "Our customers are really excited about the Apple Watch."

Even that Arehnds executive says it like 50 times in her video MR posted a few days ago.

They know people are pissed, that's why they are avoiding the conversation about short supply, focusing on redirecting the anger on the "great response," then they were forced to [kind of] clear up whether or not they would have supply in store on launch day, and now they're sending out these vague emails to customer (which I did not receive).

I worked for Apple for two years, this is just ludacrous, take accountability and post the fact that you weren't prepared for the launch because you didn't make enough watches - and maybe even STOP selling watches until you can meet the demand.

The launch should've happened in late May so they could have had an extra month to push production and be prepared.

No, I'm not "worked up" because I'm "comparing my situation to other who might be served by different geographic areas with different logistics requirements." I don't really care what others' situation is. My ONLY complaint is the 2 week window vs. a hard date. That's all. And the only thing I'm comparing this to is past pre-order situations in which there has been FAR less uncertainty and confusion. I have always either known, with 100% certainty, that I would be getting it on launch day, or I wouldn't. This time I literally have NO idea. It could be tomorrow... or it could be two weeks from now. Who knows? That's not good customer service.

I'm now starting to get positive signals that it will be tomorrow, but I had to find out by entering my phone number into UPS (which I never would have known to do except for a commenter in this thread). It looks like Apple created a shipping label today. Great. So it could come tomorrow. But I still have heard NOTHING directly from Apple.

I'm just not used to this kind of thing from Apple. They're usually much better at communicating. That's all.

Who has jumped you ? ..... doesn't seem that any pink has been shipped so how have you been jumped ?

When your order is done three minutes after they open, you get a confirmation 7 minutes later, your order is still "Proceesing" and lots of people in these forums ordered later than you and they're getting their watches tomorrow...They've jumped the line in front of you and it ticks you off!

My watch has been added to my Apple Support Profile Page...

Ordered at 12:06 a.m., 42MM Stainless Steel with Black Classic Buckle.

Nothing except the "we are working on your order" email.

This will be the first pre-order Apple has missed since 10.3 Panther. I guess I was punished for not getting the sport model. I didn't really want the SS, but I also didn't want to limit my choices in bands (I didn't care for the mix-matched bands).
