Anyway, I did try it once, it didn't work out to being that easy for me, and the card is pretty easy these days. I really don't need it that much. (no more than once a week or so, mostly for gasoline) and a few seconds waiting for auth isn't enough to bother me.

When holding a baby while checking out it’s easy to double tap the side button vs put the kid down and dig in your pocket for a wallet and then pull out your card just to look up and see your kid has bolted for the door. If you only use your card once per week I’ll assume you aren’t kid baring age yet and can’t relate to this scenario. But really I think you’re arguing because you can’t admit that you actually haven’t even set up Apple Pay. It’s literally impossible to say it’s more hassle than pulling out a card and waiting for the “did it say leave it in or pull it out” screen. Oh ****, I pulled it too soon, “sir can you reset it, I pulled my card out too soon”. Nope, I simply double tap the home button and tap the screen and out comes the receipt instantly. I’ll be out the door while you are still digging in your pockets.

Also, if you are at all concerned about security, gas pumps is by far the worst place to use a traditional CC. Gas pumps are notorious for having skimmers on them.

I can certainly understand why it's easier for you! But that scenario isn't something I face.

I'm actually 62, no wife and no kids. And I order online a lot instead of using my card.

That helps with security for sure but not with convenience. My watch is always out and ready to use for payment.

I think they might call it the Apple Watch Ultra, not Pro. Who knows though.
