But how do you press it without also pressing the button on the other side. Still haven't answered this!?

Have you figured out how to hit the volume buttons on the iPhone without also hitting the power button at the same time? If so, you'll be able to figure this out too. Hint: place your bracing thumb/finger in a place where there isn't a button, like the corners of the watch... "problem" solved.

The extra housing is most likely to do with either the rumoured temperature sensor or a blood pressure device. Or both. Or something else completely new!

Apple wouldn’t change the form to add additional bulk for nothing.

As a right-hand watch wearer, pressing the right side button seems a bit difficult without the pressing the left side of the watch. Maybe the larger watch has more non-button area to rest the thumb?

I remember being really excited for the iMac redesign and then once they were announced being really disappointed. I have also been sitting here excited for an Apple Watch redesign, but if this is it that “crown guard” is ugly (at least in the renderings) and I’m thinking I’ll be disappointed again.

The programmable button will definitely help professionals to get serious work done

We already have a customizable button under the crown. I set it to dock mode and add my most used apps there and it's very useful. I have to wonder if this extra side button is even real or what their plan is for it. It could be useful to have one set to recent apps and the other to dock but it seems like overkill.

That huge bump where the crown is looks terrible why is it there, it makes the watch look so bad, never in the history of having these watches has the crown been damaged
I’ve had three Apple watches, wear them for any and all activities outdoors and indoors, and on every single one the crown has taken some accidental damage. I’m not a careless user per se, just not overly careful. Protection to the crown would be a welcome addition for me.

A start/stop button that can also be used as "select" when scrolling through interface elements within an app. Remember the touchscreen is a "button". If you're not using that, at least one additional button is required to replace it.

That’s not a rugged Pro watch, THIS is a rugged Pro watch…

(the gloriously-named and almost as fugly Omega Ploprof)

I have a feeling some users here asking “why more buttons?” don’t get out much or exercise in inclement weather or need the ability to quickly make workout adjustments without looking at the watch.
Those users are perfectly content with their current model while typing away at their keyboard all day and shouldn’t concern themselves with those that need a Pro watch. 😉

Uh, it's really not that hard. Look at every other watch out there with multiple buttons, just don't put your thumb on the button on the opposite side. My garmin has 5 buttons and I never press the left buttons when I'm using the right side. You slide your thumb toward the display area so it's above where the buttons are. For the left side, you place your "bracing" finger more towards where the strap comments to the watch.

Anyways, it's still unfortunate that you have to have a post-paid plan for the cellular version. I hate bringing my phone with me and just want cell service for emergencies, which I can do with my Garmin. Until that happens, I'll happily stay in my Garmin universe for my watch needs.
I thought you could call 911 even without a plan.

If they sell it as more rugged, you need a crown guard ;-) Many popular dive watches have this feature.
