Absolutely try it on in-person. I was convinced I was going to go for the 46, but when I tried the sizes on for quite a while at the store, I realized I just like how the 42 feels more. The weight difference was noticeable, the 46 felt more clunky as I moved around and thought about how it'd feel on me at the gym, and the screen size on the 42 was good enough for me.

Thank you I am gonna check it out in store BEFORE buying I dont want to buy something that will be bigger than what I need

I have a Series 4 (yes, a Series 4) and I'm ready for an update! I keep flip flopping between the AW11 and an AWU3. I'd go Titanium for the AW11 so the price is exactly the same as an Ultra 3 (£749). So it's really down to which one I want. I'm interested in sleep tracking but hated wearing a watch in bed (and that was my much smaller Series 4) so perhaps if I'm going to give it a go again then an Ultra would be a silly choice, but I really don't know which way to jump...

Wait is sleep score just for the new model? I'd think that would just be a software feature that would apply to existing as well, or does that require new hardware?

Silly question but this is my first apple watch, not sure whether to go with the 42 or the 46..I have small hands small wrist is it better to see it in person before buying?
And one thing I forgot to mention: trying it on in-person also gives you the opportunity to try on all of the different Apple Watch bands to see which ones you like! The workers there were super helpful and retrieved different sizes that the table we were at didn't have, and you may find out that you really like how some bands feel while not liking how others do.

I was in the same decision-making too, but I can charge my watch at least once a day, live in a populated location, and rarely venture off the grid where satellite connectivity would be important. I find the AWU just too bulky and a bit "extreme" for going to the office every day. Went with the 11 from the 7. YMMV of course.

Still has the S10 chip - meaning all these updates should potentially be available for the series 10.

The blood pressure monitoring on the Samsung Watch is about as accurate as flipping a coin.
It is calibrated using an actual blood pressure machine. Anyhow hypertension detection is what we are getting and I don’t even have to upgrade my watch for that. Pretty chuffed to be honest.

Is hypertension and sleep score coming to older Apple Watches?
From Apple Site: As of September 9, 2025, hypertension notifications are currently under FDA review and expected to be cleared this month, with availability on Apple Watch Series 9 and later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later. The feature is not intended for use by people under 22 years old, those who have been previously diagnosed with hypertension, or pregnant persons.

Are all the sensors as good as the sensor that detects your steps?

I remember having Apple watch and sitting all day in front of my Mac and getting notification that I walked a lot that day…

My hand movements = counted as steps lmao

I got the 46 inch series 10 Apple Watch this year for the first time. I’ve always had the smaller Apple Watch since the series 0 in 2015. I agonised for a while but decided to go with the 46 and I don’t regret it. I think this is the year of go big or go home for me as I also got a 13 inch iPad for the first after always getting the 11 inch.

For those wondering, per Apple, hypertension notifications WILL be available on Apple Watch 9 and later, and on Ultra 2 and later

I was in the same boat last year and got the AW10 Ti and it's so much thinner that the Ultra 2 I was looking at. Yes same price but so glad I went with AW10. The fast charging makes the battery life a null point as well. Get up have a shower and put the watch on charge.

To answer my own question, as expected blood oxygen SPO2 sensor is there and working, but they're kind of avoiding mentioning it (not a word in the keynote) and it probably works a bit different under the hood so it can exploit a loophole in the patent infringement case.

Head to the apple watch page, scroll to "more features to empower your health", keep clicking to go right, and blood oxygen is the LAST feature:
However looks like the blood oxygen is calculated on the phone and not on the watch itself on US models. I wonder if I purchase de Ultra 3 in Mexico or Canada, will it have the on device calculation and display of the oxygen meter as my current Ultra does ?
