My wife and I both bought the stainless series 2. We both love the watch and the fact that it isn't round is part of what sets it off from other watches. I hope they maintain the current design and doubt they will change it much if or when they do because there will be too many people pissed off with bands that don't work with a round watch.

As far as the people who say its too fat, chunky, etc, etc. Every time I read one of those comments it tells me right away that it's from someone who doesn't own an Apple Watch. When it's on your wrist it is less chunky than many modern, conventional watches that are sold today.

I have a 42mm and actually wish they made a third, larger version.

I own an Apple Watch. It's too fat/chunky. That's what kept me from getting a series 2. There's no way I'd get a thicker one. I hate those giant, paperweight watches that are sold.

I don't expect series 3 to have a redesign, but it's silly not to update the design because of band collectors. Plus, they could always keep the band placement, etc. the same and update the design still. Series 4 should be redesigned for sure.

I agree. They could definitely redesign and keep the same bands.

If history is any indication, gen 5 will be the redesign and the one to wait for.
If history is any indication, gen 6 will be the redesign and the one to wait for.
If history is any indication, gen 7 will be the redesign and the one to wait for.

...
Before Apple does something: "if history is any indication, Apple will do this"

After: "well damn. I guess we can't really predict it so well. They do whatever they want"

Example: iPad not having a yearly update. 18 months between iPads

I may just go with a fitness tracker that is able to read me text / calls and call it day.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple launched an additional model in the form of a fitness tracker. Maybe it doesn't run apps, no notifications, but just has Apple's built in fitness ones. It could still have GPS (similar to the Garmin VivoActive), be much thinner and cost much less.

I use my Apple Watch to look at notifications and track activity. I use my Fitbit to look at notifications and track activity. It's the same device for most people; the issue is whether you choose to pay more for stuff you won't use.

For this reason, I hope Series 3 allows us to disable features in exchange for battery life. They already do it with low power mode. Let's extend that to disabling Siri, background apps, interactive notifications, and whatever other bloat runs on the Watch that makes it suck the battery down in a day.

If your fitbit does everything that you want it to do, as you stated, why do you even own an Apple Watch?

Would it surprise you to know that many people that own an Apple Watch use all of the other things that it can do, not just what limited amount of things you use it for?

I use all the other features on my watch, that you don't use, plus the activity tracking including using GPS on my nightly walks and runs, and at the end of the day when I put my watch on the charger it is still over 50% on the battery.

I'm baffled by this post.

Nothing to design related to leak, it's basically going to be the same. Facetime cam might make it look slightly different, with the circle.
I know it will be the same design, but mass production should happen at some point, but we didn't see any Apple watch casing or "blueprints" yet

I feel like the volume of these products is low enough that we won't see many part leaks, unless it's a redesign. We didn't get any for the series 2 either, if my memory serves me right.

They might try microdot LED display. The watch is Apple's testing grounds for a lot of new things ( OLED, 3d touch, new UI styles, waterproofing, wireless charging, motion-activated wake, probably ceramic casing, miniaturization in general ).

Getting a tiny run of micro-led displays out there would help get the tech out of R&D and into production in small quantities.

Baloney. I have a series 0 Watch and the battery lasts thirty six hours easy with moderate use. I put it on its charger at night before retiring. What's the problem with battery life?

The AW doesn't do sleep tracking like a Fitbit or other device that lasts a week on a single charge.
Your reply, you don't want sleep tracking.
My reply, I do.

You haven't had the luxury of going away for the weekend with your device charger free or worrying if you're going to make it through the day. I'm spoilt but it's something Apple need to work on...especially since they are going to add all sorts of sensors that drain battery

Same form factor? Ugh. I have an AW but although I like functionally and integration with the iPhone, it's ugly IMO. It has no elegance and is as thick as an 80s casio watch. Of all things Apple tries to make thin, the Apple watch needs thinning the most.

It's not expected for the Apple Watch to have a complete redesign every year. Incremental improvements are what makes the Watch better by adding functionality and or additional features. Furthermore, that's not how Apples history tends to work with major revisions with hardware.

Personally, I really like the rectangular design and having the thickness of currently gives the Watch some Substantiality. I own the stainless model, which is a really nice weight to it and it looks great paired with stainless link band or leather bands.

Dear Apple and bloggers... stop referring to it as "series 3". It's Apple Watch 3. The "series" thing is too contrived, pretentious and ultimately, pointless. It's the third Apple Watch. It's Apple Watch 3.

When we get to a point where I can use my watch to unlock and start my car, unlock my front door etc and has ample battery life I'll consider jumping. Until then I'll continue to love my Omega.

Pretty sure you can do the home automation part, but I doubt car manufacturers will jump on having them be able to START the car specifically. The button is really not the hard to find in the car.

I was looking at buying a series 2 next week or week after. I may still buy it. Cell connectivity doesn't matter for me. I always have my phone. Bump in speed and thinner would probably be nice though. No interest in a camera.

What i really would like is for Apple to open up the watch faces more

Hmm, I went from a SS Series "0" watch to the sports one because I found the SS just a little too heavy. I was in the process of returning it and just thought I'd at least try on the sport model, and that one really worked as it doesn't feel like I'm wearing a watch.

But yeah. Wonderful device. Mines actually in repairs now and it's funny how integrated it became with my lifestyle. Can't live (comfortably) without it now.

I'm more interested in features, speed, reliability, and thinness than in cellular. No way I'm paying AT&T an extra $10 a month. As long as the watch works as well with iPhone pairing as it does with built-in cellular, I'm fine. Hope its just an option, as with the iPad.

Skipped gen one and got a series 2. I find myself not wearing it every day mostly because I have to have my phone with me anyway. I do like the notifications for texts and such, though in finding that it's not quite worth the price of admission there.

I do also enjoy the gps and told myself it would be an awesome running watch. It's ok. Not awesome. Storage is limited and streaming on existant.

At the $400 price of admission I feel like I should've waited, either for a price reduction (I've seen $70 off sales a few times now), or just an LTE or some such radio to be able to stream music and receive notifications anywhere. Not sure something like that is coming due to battery concerns, so I guess this will remain a "when I feel like it" gadget for me. Perhaps it's time I just rip off the bandaid and buy a dedicated running Watch.

Why? Like the Samsung phones? So it shows the time? Neat, I guess.. but why? You look at your watch to see the time when you want to see it... why waste limited resources?
I can understand wanting to see the time. It can be annoying to lift your hand/wrist every time you want to see it. And sometimes it plain just doesn't work (not often). I know plenty of nurses that won't get ansmarestch for this exact reason. Maybe not a feature covered by everyone, but thenoption would be nice.

Integration with remote start could be cool.
