Apple today filed six new Apple Watch model numbers with the Eurasian Economic Commission, including A1977, A1978, A1975, A1976, A2007, and A2008, according to French blog Consomac. All of the models run watchOS 5.

The filings are legally required for any encrypted devices sold in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

These model numbers likely correspond with the widely rumored Apple Watch Series 4 lineup, expected to be unveiled at an Apple Event in September alongside a trio of new iPhone models, new AirPods, and more.

In the past, similar filings with the Eurasian Economic Commission have been submitted for the lower-cost 9.7-inch iPad, 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Watch Series 2, AirPods, and 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, usually within one to two weeks before each product was released.

At this point, it was already pretty obvious that Series 4 models are coming next month, but the filings eliminate any remaining doubt.

The only unique aspect of this year's filings are that there are currently only six unreleased Apple Watch Series 4 model numbers, whereas the Series 3 lineup has eight model numbers: two aluminum GPS-only models, and six LTE models, including aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic variants in two sizes.

Naturally, this has led to some speculation that there might not be ceramic Series 4 models, but there are many possibilities.

Earlier this year, well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple Watch Series 4 models will feature 15 percent larger displays, longer battery life, and improved health monitoring capabilities.

If past is predicate for the future, Apple will likely hold its next event on Wednesday, September 12, with invites to the media going out in the last few days of August. MacRumors will provide live coverage as usual.

[doublepost=1534773377][/doublepost]Question: Which past model numbers, if any, started with a 2?

FYI: 38mm white ceramic S3 “unavailable” on US Apple Online store, only 42mm.

UPDATE: all four versions S3 ceramic available online as of early Tuesday.

Great news, i'm looking to update from my Series 0 to the Series 4 when it comes out. If they don't update the Ceramic i wonder if they will add another version for the Edition instead or just remove it from the line up?

They won’t remove the edition series.

They may update the existing aluminum with different internals - but Apple will *always* have a high end edition version in every release.

They are also a fashion company now. Not just a tech company.

I do my iPhone with a monthly, but I always sell and upgrade my other Apple devices. I do that yearly with my iPad, but I usually wait a couple in between watches. I'll wait to see the keynote before deciding on the series 4.
Same. I do my iPhone on a monthly plan now, have bought outright before. But iPads, watches and everything else I buy outright.

I have a series 2, with no real compelling reason to get the 3, but a larger display and some form factor improvements, and if they have a longer battery life, I'm sold on one. (if I can save up the clams!)

And if you save up the clams, you can make a great chowder :)

Anyway, hopefully they will also have some bigger ones in Series 4. I am still on Series 0 and would love to upgrade

The only apple devices that need to be thinner now are not macbook pros, iMac, iPhones, and ipads. The apple watch needs to be much thinner than right now. Using the series 3 and seeing it from the side feels like I'm watching David Blaine doing a levitation magic trick. It's weird.

There’s no reason to offer models without cellular capability. Just make the cellular model the same price as the non-cellular was.

Nonsense. Remove the LTE hardware offer it at a lower price. Put more battery in it. The combo of a bigger battery and less stuff using it would give you longer battery life.

In a era of monthly subscriptions for almost everything, I do NOT need another $10 a month or whatever it is for a cell # on my watch.
[doublepost=1534774253][/doublepost]I have a series 3 and a like it, but I so wish they made a round one.

Meh, I'm happy with my Series 3. More screen real estate really isn't going to push me to upgrade. More than likely, I'll sit this one out and see what the Series 5 offers.

My personal wish list for series 4:

- bigger display on the same chassis size so I can get a 38mm and have a screen comparable to my 42mm
- better heart rate sensor, the one on my series 1 just sucks
- full Qi compatibility so I can charge the watch on the same pad I use for my iPhone without wasting money on AirPower
- cellular version finally available in my country

As I'm willing to change the size I don't care about bands compatibility, although it would be nice

This is an area where I really wish Apple would offer OS licenses to third-party builders. They SUCK at making attractive watches. I bought my son a Huawei Watch 2 last Christmas to go with his Android phone and it made me jealous.

Different tastes for different people. I think Apple has a timeless design on their hands with the Apple Watch. I'd never buy anything that looks like the above.

Make a round model, I will buy. Otherwise I'll keep waiting. Watches are quite personal and rectangles aren't for everyone.

I look forward to seeing the thing in real, but my guess is that the original 42mm casing even with larger display is still too small for my taste.

God I hope they do a ceramic or edition model. I had a SS 0 and a SS2 but pulled the trigger on a ceramic for the S3 and love it.

I’ve had a Space Black SS for S0 and SS for S2 - S3 came very late (may) in Denmark so I’ve skipped that one. Actually been okay with two years on same watch so might jump on an edition watch the next time. Ceramic is an epic material. Just a shame with all the connectors are clear steel and doesn’t fit

Until he actually had to use it?

Those watches are really ugly.

The September event will likely have the following announcements:

Apple Watch Series 4

iPhone X, X Plus and the cheaper 6.1" iPhone in multiple colours

iPad Pro - new design with Face ID, smaller bezels, no home button

Possible announcements also include a new 13" MacBook to replace the Air and an announcement about Airpower release date, also new AirPods with the charging case and possibly a new Apple pencil.

We will know how busy the keynote is going to be as soon as Tim Cook walks on stage, if he says "i'm going to dispense with the updates on how the company is doing and get right too it" then we know that it's going to be jam packed, BUT if he gives updates and or invites up other people to talk about environment and so on then it's a filler and there won't be as busy an event as we think.

My money is on IPhone X and X Plus, Apple Watch Series 4, Airpower & AirPods for September. I cant see that they will have time to announce iPads and MacBook's as well as they always do a detailed sales job on the phones.

iPads and Macbooks to be announced in October.

Just my view :)

Pretty sure EE are the only carrier with the infrastructure to support shared numbers that the Apple Watch requires.
They are. The other carriers in the UK are a way behind. Thats why I ditched O2 and went to EE

They did it when they introduced the iPad Pro back in 2015, it was iPhone’s, Apple Watch, iPad Pro and Apple TV.

I moved from the Series 0 to the Series 3 but will move to the Series 4 when it comes available. I will pass my Series 3 down to someone else in the family. I love the LTE.

Getting rid of the Ceramic models or the Hermes models makes sense to me.

They want to have a “prestige” and thats fine, but it makes no real sense to have two of those (on top of the stainless steel model) — Obviously no-one has the sales data apart from Apple, but I can’t see there being that much sense in dividing up the sales demographics on the higher end like that for a decent ROI.

I think it makes more sense to combine the Hermes / Ceramic units into a single SKU as the prestige model instead.

- Regular / Nike ones for those who just want the watch for fitness
- Stainless Steel for those who want a fancier watch
- Ceramic Hermes who want the prestige watch

Maybe they make all of them cellular and the “6 SKUS” are just these in black or white?
