I do have a Series 0 watch. Had it since launch day. Having notifications on the wrist is nice and the fitness tracking is ok but none of that is worth the price tag. Especially for a device with a battery that still barely lasts more than a day.

I’m with you. I have a series 3, had the 0 before that. I’m gonna sit this one out and hope the next one has about a 3 day battery life and sleep tracking.

So to recap... You're upset it was "hidden" that it was only a US feature... then you mention that "even if Apple said it was coming later to other countries" you wouldn't believe them anyway... So you weren't interested in it anyway... Got it. Just needed to complain for the sake of complaining.

My friend, why you attacking me for? The world is not only Apple haters or fanatics. Most of the people are normal and gave their own state about product. Like me.

I said I would like to buy it for ECG. Maybe you are young and don't remember it, but there was a time Apple announced product and it was ready at launch day. Nowadays Apple offers unready product with no main feature. By doing this we have no AirPower for e.g. So if Apple said this feature is ready - ok, I would buy it, but if they said this feature will be ready for rest of the world in 2019 - then I would simply not. Is this that hard to understand? After presentation I thought that ECG is ready for all of us. After I checked Apple website I found out this is only for USA and even there it will come in the future...

I really miss when Apple announce product and it was like at presentation since day 1, not after dozen of upgrades...

They mentioned this in the presentation around 0:26:50

Thank you, I missed this part... I have to apologize.

I mean you have GPS, but if you bought series 1 you didn't care about it in the first place.

For me, I bought the Series 1 when it was released because it was a less expensive way to test an Apple Watch and see if it was worth it or if I could live without it. Turns out I cannot live without it. I'd love to upgrade to the Series 4, but not sure it's in the budget.

Well, it’s a first gen device which usually means that it’s going to suck quite quickly compared to the following generations. I wasn’t sold on the S0 to be honest. Actually not even the S2. I was sold on the AW when I got the S3 for my wife (LTE functionality was key). Even then, you would admit that 50 cents a day for a device that is on your wrist 15-20 hours a day and monitors your body while giving you messages, phone calls, etc. is not that bad. Just 5-10 years ago it was sci-fi!

Didn't say it was bad. Just saying that it can no longer everything it could do when I bought it.

Here we go again. A macroumour user not happy with positive reviews (for a product that generally have people more excited then the new iPhones) You see, when reviews are not soo great like with the iPhone Xs they are spot on. But when they are positive, they are biased. Typical bull **** from forum community “experts”

Yawn... guess you missed the 2nd paragraph.

Hard to see spending another $500 on this (LTE version) less than a year after getting my S3. Couldn’t care less about EKG and fall detection, so... a bigger screen? Not worth the $300 it would cost to upgrade after tax and trade in.

As for battery life: doesn’t bother me. I don’t think I’ve ever been lower than 20% at the end of the day, even with a GPS based workout playing music over Bluetooth. I used to have a Garmin 645M on which the battery lasted 5-7 days, and it honestly is easier to just remember to charge the AW every night at the same time as my phone.

I personally think it's worth an upgrade from Series 3. Maybe next year.

How is battery life an issue for anyone? Seriously? Take it off when you go toe bed, place it on charger, wake up, put in back on. How is it seriously an inconvenience to anyone?

If you don't talk on it a lot on a charge, you can get through a day and a night's sleep with it on and just re-charge while at a desk.

While the new face with complications looks nice, I really wish they would add realistic looking watch faces like on the Samsung watches. Just seems so cartoonish in comparison. I may still upgrade from my series 0. We will see.

In the meantime the Pillow app (one of many available) recently had an update to automatically detect when a user fell asleep.

By no means perfect but a step in the right direction.

Must admit am surprised how much better WatchOS 5 is on the Series 2 & 3 however.

But you understand that the device is ready to go and the holdup is regulations needing to be cleared in every country right? This is completely outside of Apple's hands as to when they get clearance (except the US, where money talks).

Its not. It’s no different than charging your iPhone or iPad on a daily basis. Even though the Apple Watch is rated 18 hours, I can at least achieve 23 Hours with my usage and settings adjusted. If you consider how _much_ technology is actually included in the Apple Watch, even rated 18 hours conservatively from Apple is fairly reputable with all the health sensors, haptic engine, etc.

To be fair, my Series 0 runs fine. Never had any bother with slowness. The battery is getting on a bit but the new watches still don't have very good battery life so it's hardly worth paying £400 for a new watch with only slightly better battery life.

You don't realize how slow and bad the battery is until you upgrade. I had a series 0 and upgraded to the series 3 last year. I went from barely making a day to now I can stretch it 3 days. Also the watch is so much faster that I was blown away. Also, I've started just wearing my watch at night with the sleep tracking apps available.

Battery life continues to be the only thing stopping me from purchasing. If some form of integrated solar and/or kinetic charging solution get's included to increase the time between charges then I'll be in. Though I suspect the engineering and practicality challenges to bring this about are extreme. I live in hope.
Battery life is what keeps me in Garmin products, most recharge while you shower so they can collect data all day... for days at a time. I do not understand why battery life is not a huge hit. I think most buyers wore jewelry watches before, those of us who never take a watch off do not seem to be the target market. Why aren't there batteries in the bands or something?

We who will not buy because of poor battery life do not want to take our watches off at night. We want data and the watch needs to be in place to collect data. These are not just jewelry to some of us, they are important additions to our health management. Garmin has way better products at this point if you are buying a smart watch to monitor health. BTW most men die of their heart attack around two in the morning, I bet they wish they had data. BTW2 Oh heck no it is not the same as an iPad, I do not get data from an iPad.

I’m willing to believe most take their Watches off to charge at night. That would also be dependent if someone values sleep monitoring or not. For me, I have no benefit for that, therefore I charge my watch at night, which I’m Sure others are in the same
Instance.

No idea what this has to do with my post and charging the watch.

I too have had an S0 since launch day, and it does seem like a no-brainer to upgrade to the S4. For me, it came down to the following issues:
  • Battery life: The S0 battery life is adequate most of the time. I take it off of the charger around 8 a.m. and it's usually back on the charger by 8 or 9 p.m. However, the times it runs out of power tend to be really noticeable such as when I'm traveling. I find it pretty frustrating trying to get back to the hotel or home with a dead Apple Watch.
  • Built-in GPS: The S0 lacks the built-in GPS, so location data has to be fed from your iPhone. Navigation from the watch is painfully slow on the S0.
  • Screen size: Complications are important and the modular watch face is the only one capable of displaying all of the ones I like to see at a glance. The S4's larger screen opens up more viewing options, which is a big benefit.
  • Heart rate monitoring: The S0 heart monitor is adequate, but the tech has advanced a lot in the subsequent generations. I'm looking forward to better heart rate monitoring during workouts and the new ECG feature.

Can’t watch the videos yet, but has anyone mentioned if the crown and side button are now solid state, or are they still mechanical click?

Not run like a potato? Series 0 is so slow now.

It was slow even when it first came out. We took ours back for this reason.

I have a Series 3 and it is infinitely more usable due to better performance. A move to a S4 isn't so obvious.
