Question for all. I ordered the original Apple Watch when it first came out but returned it as I didn't vibe with it more than my FitBit. With the newly added ECG reading and a few more features, I'm interested again. One thing that sticks out is the 16GB of storage. Does anyone know if you can store music or stream music from your watch to Beats BT headphones w/o your phone nearby (as in the gym)? That would be a HUGE selling point for me. - Thanks.

Yes, you can store music on the watch and stream it to BT headphones. I have AirPods that I use under my hearing protection when I ride my tractor to cut my grass and I stream music from my AW Series 2 now without an issue. BTW, my phone is in the house when I am doing this so I don't have to have that bulky phone in my pocket when cutting grass.

This is me. I love my Generation 0 but the series 4 has really caught my eye.

I wonder what the selling price for a mint generation 0 42mm sports space green is? I am assuming not a lot. The charger is probably worth more lol.
My original 42mm Stainless Steel in Silver with Black Sport Band will probably fetch $125-175. The Aluminum Sport I am guessing for less.

I have a 42mm Series 1 but the side button and crown don't work any more (I shouldn't have been swimming in the ocean with it). I plan to grab a 40mm Series 4 on Black Friday if there are any good sales. I like that the screen will be larger but the case will be smaller than my current watch.

I notice this article has no section on battery life. Presumably this is because the author thought that, since it is the same as always, it needs no comment. But is this true? IU still think its important to inform your readers how all this new cardiac monitoring and fall protection translates into additional power consumption. Maybe it's trivial, maybe it's not. But here's one reader who will let that help him make up his mind whether he does or does not replace his present Watch.

So does anyone know if Mickey and Minnie Mouse watch faces will be on the new watch, she seriously said she needs them or she is sticking with her Gen 1.
Thanks,
Tig

I find it interesting that the 40mm has a very slightly larger screen than the 42mm of previous generations. If you don’t want a larger screen you could get the smaller one with the same screen now with a smaller body.

Does anyone know if the sensor underneath (the bulge) is any slimmer than the series 3? I find it pretty uncomfortable.

Yes, this is possible. I take my Beats & Series 3 running without my phone all the time.

I'd like to see a Series 0 to Series 4 comparison, lol. It's going to be especially crazy for us.

Also to note for T-Mobile customers, the Apple Watch Series 4 does not support band 71 LTE like the iPhone XS:

https://www.apple.com/watch/cellular/

If you live in an area like me that got band 71 but not band 12, then, uh, good luck getting a decent signal indoors in some areas with such a small antenna because my iPhone X struggles. Fortunately most people will use this outside.

Hmm... interesting on the T-Mobile thing... Also per my calculations should be around 5x the performance of Series 0.

No one has mentioned that the sensor looks like a good version of HAL
nice

Over my SS series 3 I just don’t see dropping another $900 with AppleCare. I’m sorry Apple, I’ll hold out on this one. The 2mm bigger screen and EKG just ain’t that valuable to me. I could see the face with 9 complications and the improved speaker/crown being valuable but just not $900 more.

>> "Apple Watch Series 4 is just under 1mm slimmer compared to Series 3"

No. It's 0.7mm thinner. That's not "just under 1mm". It's a lot under 1mm. In fact it's "just over 0.5mm".

I like watch 4. But I'm not going to lie to myself about it. It's an improvemnt. It's great. We don't need to zealously distort reality. Plain old untampered-with reality is great as it is.

Is it worth it to upgrade from the Series 2?

For me, the killer Apple Watch feature is LTE. That took the Apple Watch from toy to a truly useful device. So upgrading to at least the Series 3 from the Series 2 is a huge upgrade, IMHO. I have the Series 3 and love it. I will try to resist the Series 4 and get the next one.

Get a Series 4 aluminum and try it out. Never hurts to have another AW, in a different color perhaps.
[doublepost=1536875929][/doublepost]I'm going for a SS 40mm. Just sold my SS Series 0. It was OK, but anything less that a Series 3 is too slow to deal with.
[doublepost=1536876379][/doublepost]The advanced heart sensor on the series 4 is a BIG deal to me. I'm one of those people saved by the :apple: Watch. One day my AW alerted me that my heart rate was too high while I was at rest. I took it seriously and went to my MD, who referred me to a cardiologist. After some tests, I was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia - a potentially fatal heart rhythm abnormality. I was rushed to surgery, where they were able to correct the problem. I would never have known something was amiss if not for my AW. For me, it's a life saver! I'll be ordering a new one at 12:01AM tomorrow morning!:)

2 mm may not sound like a lot, but for a watch, particularly on the smaller model, it will increase the footprint significantly, while only reducing the thickness ever so slightly. The smaller model will look much bulkier on small wrists.

I was very ready to buy the series 4 for all the really nice updates, but this is really putting me off.

I'm so close to getting the Watch. I'm waiting for it to be decoupled from reliance on the iPhone. If I could have just the Watch and an iPad, I'd buy one.

Make a mock-up of the watch face out of cardboard and lay it on your wrist. It's easy to see how it will look that way. I have small wrists, and I think it will be fine. It's only 1mm on each side, so its not quite as bad as it sounds.
